I had never run with anyone before last weekend. I have no spouse, so I don't have that additional dynamic. I passed an old friend on the trail, purely by accident. He's been running for awhile, and is training for Chicago in a few weeks. He surprised me by turning around and running with me. I thought he'd only stick…

If you don't have any ankle or foot problems, go ahead and go barefoot. Your gait will change, likely on it's own, and be aware that your calves are going to KILL you for a couple of days after. This is typical for beach/barefoot running.

Max for your age is around 189, so 170 is in range. Slow your pace down to increase your distance. Why do you have to run a 10 minute mile out of the gate? There is nothing wrong with walking intervals too. Look at couch to 5k if you want a program to increase distance and endurance.

I was in great shape when I was in marching band! Especially college! People made fin of us, but we worked out butts off. I can only imagine how many calories we burned doing a show....

could food have become your substitute for the 'sauce' as you call it? I think to some extend we all obsess over food - that's what got us here - our love affair. ;) Good luck!

you can't toast someting over the campfire? :) Since you can't do bagels, what about something like the peanut butter and honey uncrustables made by Smuckers? all you have to do is thaw them. Or make your own?

16 weeks is plenty of time. Look online for the Hal Higdon novice plan.

If you are realistically and accurately (read - using a HRM to calculate) burning over 1000 cals per day, you likely need to eat more. Your body is an engine, and it needs fuel. Now, you might not ever be able to eat them all back, but aim for at least half.

I work with a trainer, but that's because at the beginning I didn't have enough motivation on my own. We started with twice per week sessions, and are now down to one per week with a weekly group bootcamp. I find that now that I'm closer to my goal, she focuses more on the areas I tend to forget (or intentionally ignore…

I haven't lost a pound since well before July, but have lost inches and another 2% body fat. It isn't all about the poundage. Hang in there! :)

After my last problem, I deleted and reinstalled the app. It works great now. I ran on Sunday on a really good trail with mile markers, and it was spot on. The music and call outs worked correctly again too. :)

I've had great success at both White House Black Market and Ann Taylor. They get that women have curves! If you buy today, all clothes are 40% off online. :)

Thanks for the replies. I found the tape at the local sporting goods store, and a very informative video on you tube. ;)

Yup, that's it!

I'm doing laser treatments right now, and the change has been significant after only 3 sessions. I bought a Groupon for 3 sessions at a significant discount, and am sooo glad I did!

I'm a climber as well. Try a local climbing gym or just go hang at the crag. You'll always find folks willing to let you climb with them...

No, what you did was fine. She's pissed - it happens. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the next few days she just tells you to not come back - expect it to happen. Sometimes people just can't handle when one of their staff leaves. Remember, most people never quit a job, they quit a boss. ;) Good luck with your…

I used to run a pool at a YMCA, and this happened all the time. And I mean, ALL the time.

Katefab26- an opera singer? That's awesome! Way to go on your 8 pounds so far, keep up the great work!

So my mileage seemed correct, but I have it set to call out distance and pace every half mile, and that totally crapped out. At the first half mile point, it stopped my iPod player, and then in the second mile it stopped calling out my progress....

New York and Company as well....

My place of employment just announced the possibility of cutting 30,000 jobs over the next few years, so I understand. And, I was laid off last summer as well (from another company!) Not to make light of it, but if you spend the money now while you have an income, think of how many times a week you could go if you DO get…

I'd get the pain checked. If you are supposed to be recovered and cleared to run, I would expect a dull ache, but not terrible pain. When I recovered from my MCL tear, it hurt, but was more annoying than show stopping. Does that make sense? I felt like this around week 3, and actually had a built in break - I went on…

I haven run outside since the update. I will tonight and report back....

<probably 4 or 5. Already showing my addiction to baked goods! :) I'm on the right.

Me in preschool. Either baking or playing with homemade playdough at my cousin Amy's house. I'm on the right. :)

We did the following last night: Speed night alternating crosses - 1 min single cross left - 1 min single cross right - 1 min alternating crosses - 1 min step ups with overhead press - 1 min each leg then back to the boxing. :) you can add uppercuts and jabs in too...
-
you know you can create interval workouts in RunKeeper too, right? that way it is all in one app. ;)
-
Since my iPhone is also my tunes for my runs (and since I think it is always wise to carry a phone on my runs), I just use the Runkeeper app. I know I've done some intervals on my timex, but nothing very sophisticated.

Log it and be honest. No point in using a food diary if you lie to yourself. ;)
