I often have some sliced turkey breast, or hard-boiled eggs supplemented with low-fat or fat-free Greek yogurt.

I love my Misfit. Wear it on ankle or wrist. Comes with a clip to attach to a shoelace if you want. I also have a necklace it can be worn with. No need to charge, just replace the battery every 6 months or so. AND - it's waterproof so when I swim or walk laps around my pool it counts my activity.

<smdh> This is why we can't have nice things. As one who lived with undiagnosed sleep apnea for years, I can assure you that knowing what's wrong is the first step towards fixing it. If you're ok with being a driving risk, potential diabetes & heart disease, increased chance of dementia then do NOT move beyond denial &…

I no longer use MapMyWalk (the voice got too annoying) but I have noticed that my Misfit Shine is calculating steps/miles differently all of a sudden. I walk almost the same route all the time & it was *always* 3.5 miles. It's now showing as about 3 miles. I should check it in my car maybe.

For me it's Werther's hard candies. Three of them total 70 calories, and keep my mouth busy for a good while. i eat them while reading in bed, drink more water, brush teeth & go to sleep!

I find dishes with beans to be very satiating and generally low in calories. I make a soup with kale, cannellini beans, chopped onion, couple of garlic cloves, a quart or 2 of chicken broth (depending on how much kale & beans I use). I sprinkle some peppered vinegar or grated parmesan on top when I serve it. Keeps me very…

I stayed in a miserable job for far too long. I actually would cry on the way to work sometimes. My boss was horrible - a mean, vicious man. One day I met a friend for lunch and was telling her how much I hated my job. She said, "Just go back this afternoon and QUIT. You're smart, talented, educated - you can always find…

I love my Misfit Shine. I've been using it for over 3 years. Waterproof to 8' or so, doesn't need to be recharged and looks pretty cool, as well. You do have to have a smartphone or tablet to sync it & track steps. The battery lasts about 3-4 months depending on how often you sync. They've had some sales lately, so price…

I have 3 herniated discs. One in my low back, 2 in my neck. I lost 30 lbs. and did feel a little better, but it was joining a gym and committing to a regular plan of strength training that has really helped me turn the corner on pain. I still have some discomfort from the low back (hip & leg pain) but nothing like before.…

Interesting thread. I have only ever had 2 PTs. The first was a young guy who clearly didn't know how to work with an out-of-shape 63 yr old woman. He had me doing weighted lunges the first day, and my knees took 2 weeks to recover. He disappeared after 2 sessions, and I started with a NASM certified woman in her late…

Sliced zucchini (cut width-wise) makes a good substitute for lasagna noodles, or corn tortillas in enchiladas.

My age. It's my only flaw. ;)

I think we grew up in the same family!

No PCs; no tablets; no smartphones; no Facebook, no Twitter. People had to actually get up off their butts if they wanted to interact with people. Fewer fast-food options, too. There was McD's, BK, A&W, and DQ - that was about it. You had to actually cook food if you wanted to eat.

Good shoes are a must. I was walking/jogging 4+ miles a day and ended up with plantar fasciitis. Laser therapy helped a lot, podiatrist recommended New Balance 990s for me, and they are wonderful. I shoe shop at Road Runners & they've been great. Also, for women (if you have weight to lose) a well-fitting sports bra did…

Nice ripe tomatoes with salt & pepper is my favorite! Pineapple is pretty darned good, too, if you're craving sweet.

Many years ago I made homemade eggplant parmesan for a dinner with friends. A lot of work, draining the eggplant slices, frying them, making the sauce etc. etc. It always came out great though, so worth the effort. It was cooking nicely in the oven when our friends arrived. We had a couple of glasses of wine and then the…

Prednisone is awful. EVERYTHING suddenly tastes soooo good. Even frozen Encore veggie lasagna tastes like a gourmet meal. It does give me huge amounts of energy & incredible focus. It could become a real problem if I needed it more often that every few years (for my asthma). Good luck.

My friend and I came up with a way to get rid of our clothes without taking bags of them to the Goodwill. We give them to each other & if we *love* an item we keep it. Otherwise we take them to the Goodwill. Less painful to donate someone else's clothes than our own!

I agree with many of the above posts. Aspartame, in reasonable amounts, is harmless. My problem is with my husband's daily use of ELEVEN packets of Sucralose (brand name Splenda) in ONE cup of coffee!! He had to have a kidney removed 2 years ago (benign tumor) and I worry about the one he has left. Sucralose is fine, in…

An appropriate dosage Resveratrol has been shown to mimic the effects of calorie restriction on a genetic level. There's a good bit of research out there on it.

1/4 cup of generic apple juice has 28 calories. Now, mix that 1/4 cup of apple juice with 1/4 cup of water. How many calories would now be in 1/4 cup of the mixed solution? Answer: half (14 calories) Math is hard :D

I was able to maintain for over a year without logging. However, slowly but surely the portions grew, the choices got worse, the martinis more frequent and the result is 7 lbs. back on. I strength train twice a week & do a core & abs class once a week, but that won't make up for the extra 500-700 calories a day I was…

Still using & loving my Shine after about 2 years. Haven't been able to walk as much in the last 4 months because of plantar fasciitis, but doing what I can. I'm sodagrrl. Friend me. =)

A pair of Alegria sandals that I am LOVING for the comfort they provide my poor old plantar fasciitis feet.

The change in your face is remarkable! It's good to remember where we started - easy to forget without pictures. You have done an amazing thing and I'm sure you can continue this journey!

I'm just thankful there are no White Castle burgers within Uber-distance.
