Given up syncing any device to MFP - I add manually. Every device 2 x different Fitbits, MS Band have all had issues at some point. Constantly resetting, re-pairing, etc, etc. I figure MFP is trying to work with too many devices/Apps.

The negative adjustment is ONLY for people with a FitBit device linked. Anyone using iPhone, Microsoft Band, etc, etc do not get this option. To be honest, I think MFP has tried to connect too many 'partners' and it's sytems can't cope - not every device will work the same way - customers are now finding that out.

A bit extreme, but F1 drivers burn about 2000-3000 calories a race. Sure its high speed and although us mortals don't drive that fast, we still have to concentrate a lot while on the roads. The brain uses a lot of calories. Try sitting down in a car 'sedentary' for six hours driving and see how physically and mentally…

I would never log driving as an 'activity'. However.... I do use a HRM and have experimented with it while driving. Heart rate is higher than sitting doing nothing - especially in busy/city traffic. Is it significant enough to log as exercise. No. My resting heart rate is around 50bpm, during sedate movement around the…

One thing I have found out during my weight loss is that everyone is different. Would be boring if we were all the same! I'm m57 and after a first career of burning 6000-8000 calories a day, my second career was either driving, or sitting behind a desk. Needless to say the weight piled on. In my 20's I ran sub 3hr…

I had one for a day (to set it up), it was then taken and wrapped by Santa! I use the FitBit website as my 'centre' for things fitness. I use MFP for entering foods - as it's UK food database is good. The foods are sent to FitBit. I have an App that works well with FitBit for my Runs, Cycles and other non moving exercises.…

At first I saw this device on MFP and seems like a great idea. But, not easy to get in UK. Software supplied is for Windows only - not Mac OSX. Also expect that it will be heavily US based databases, etc - too often this happens. I like FitBit, but use MFP for foods as the FitBit food Database is USA or German?

I have a similar problem. I have the luxury to exercise all day if I wanted. Generally exercise about 1-3 hours a day and have lost a lot of weight - I am needing a whole new wardrobe! I have however started to slow down with 7lbs to go to my target weight. To add to this, we bought new scales. The new scales are more…

I use the Wahoo LE Bluetooth one and like you have a large chest - no problems slipping. Although sometimes it feels like it is, it isn't. Whatever the strap is made from, it's very grippy.

I did it in 1992. Excellent experience, but hard work. Tips? Don't underestimate the driving part and don't do any of the driving yourself. I shared the driving with a friend, who also did the 'up the hills' bit. Knackering. Another friend had three drivers and himself in one car - a lot easier apparently, as he had done…

Apps are appearing for smartphones that provide you with a course of crunches, situps, etc. Clever thing is they use the accelerometer to count each rep. They add in rest days, etc. Runtastic are the ones I am using.

It is possible. I started using MFP before I started dieting and exercising and the number of calories I consumed was unbelievable. 3000-3500 a day, for a very lightly active person. Exercise and MFP has worked for me. But more than losing weight, I can say the exercise has made me feel better than just dieting (which I…

I bought a Wahoo Bluetooth Low Energy about 5 weeks ago. Best thing I've bought to help me lose weight. It works with iPhone 4S or 5. Loads of apps recognise it Runkeeper Runtastic Sports Tracker Endomondo Digifit Wahoo Fitness Strava iSmoothRun miCoach and probably others. Got mine full price from the Apple store. Have…

'Life is what you make it'. So true!

I think 'normal' day to day things should not be logged. The definition of exercise is not fixed, but I look at it this way.... Do I and other people walk up and down stairs daily? Do people walk to the shops and carry groceries home? Do people walk or cycle to work? What about builders? Most are very active, yet they may…

Are you using an app or something to tell you what HR zone you are exercising in? MFP will warn you if you are entering starvation mode - when you complete you diary for the day.

Thanks - very interesting article.

What age are you. I'm 56 and walk up to 10 miles a day - and feel I could walk forever at 15min miles. I also do 30 sit-ups, 30 pushups and some other strength stuff, around 30min a day. Yet parts of my arms, lower stomach and inside my thighs at the top still have a little flab. I put it down to my age.

Keep going!!!

After reading this, I realise how inaccurate Digifit's calories calculations must be! Several times (3hr brisk walks) it has reported I have burnt more than 1000 calories. when I enter the walking speed/duration on MFP, I get a figure around 800 - which seems more believable.

I bought some cheap salter scales in Argos (Salter). Rubbish! If I weigh myself twice, they vary up to a stone +/- even in the same place on a hard floor. I've come to realise that accurate and cheap don't go together with bathroom scales. I've since bought an Omron scale (the people who make blood pressure/medical stuff)…

Don't know the age of all you guys, but I'm 56 and had IBS for a couple of years. I've learnt what and what I can't eat to reduce the problem. I lost about 2 stone prior to joining MFP, but I still have a 'paunch' - not sure if it is my age or the IBS. For those having problems with fluctuating weight measurements. How…
