Has anyone done this with dried black beans? I just recently switched from canned to dried to lower my sodium intake and I am not sure yet of the conversion. How many dried beans?? Anyone know??!!

So exciting! Keep up the hard work! It definitely pays off!

Don't let that stop you from spinning!!! LOL! My girl parts hurt when I first started too, but you soon get totally used to the bike! It is a great workout! Great job on the weight loss! Keep it up!

I keep a 32oz nalgene bottle at my desk and when I finish drinking the first 32oz I treat myself to 20oz with crystal light flavoring! Then I fill up the 32oz again and I drink it with my dinner and the rest of the night. Water is all I drink though - I don't even buy pop unless it is the weekend and then I allow myself a…

When I started running I couldn't even run a mile without stopping. I never did the c25k program. Instead, I took advice from the world runner's book and I simple focused on how long I could run rather than distance. I started with 30 second jog intervals and kept increasing them until I was in the minutes. Then, I started…

THANKS! I am slowly converting eating habbits to clean eating and these are the types of recipes I am always looking for! Can't wait to try!

Weight is simply the amount of gravitational force that pulls you down on the scale. Gravity depends on how massive an object is and the more massive an object is the more gravitational pull there is. Therefore, a 'more massive' person will weigh more than a smaller person because you are being pulled down on the scale…

And yes. . .I burn fewer calories in the winter because my body doesn't have to work as hard to keep it cool. I burn considerably more in July when I am panting like a dog because it is so hot!!!!!!!!!!

The best way to get an accurate calorie count is a heart rate monitor. You can get a simple Polar for $100 bucks. I have had mine for 3 years and it was the best investment I have ever made. EVERYTHING affects the calories. I sometimes burn more on a treadmill because I run faster to get it over with even though I keep it…

Brooks! They have successfully ran with me through 3 1/2 marathons, soon to be 4 and am training for a full. No blisters - even in a monsoon rainy 10 miler. I always feel great when I get done!

I feel your pain! I'm getting married in June and we are taking a cruise. I purposefully chose the cruise that has spinning classes because I do that already 3 days a week and that has the upper level track because I also run. I plan on working out hard each morning so that I don't feel as bad about the food I eat. I've…

You're muscles are tearing and breaking down which is how new muscle is formed. Eat high amounts of protein to aid in the muscle recovery. The burning is most likely lactic acid build up. Low fat chocolate milk after a work out will flush the lactic acid out. Keep up the good work - sore muscles means you are working them!

Go with the specialized hybrid. That way if you decide you want to ride longer distances it won't be as tough as on a commuter bike. The hybrid is closer to a road bike which you would definitely want on a long ride.

If you don't like breakfast foods eat something you would eat for lunch or dinner on a smaller scale. I used to eat turkey sandwiches for breakfast! I never liked breakfast until the last 2 years or so and I almost have to eat it now because I work out at 5a.m. and would be starved if I didn't!

Same here! Oatmeal with skim milk and ground flax seeds. Add a few berries and maybe even a tbsp of honey - delicious! I also eat 2 hard boiled egg whites with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper seasoning to add more protein. I will be honest though - I had to experiment with different combinations of the oatmeal to find one I…

My fiance and I originally bought hybrid commuter bikes and were disappointed that within one year of riding we wanted to do longer rides and we really needed a road bike. I would HIGHLY suggest you spend a little more money and go ahead and get a good road bike. They will last forever. Any of the major brands are really…

I have seen several posts saying you don't need to buy your dress that far in advanced, but just be warned - it isn't just where you get your dress, but who the designer is. I purchased a Maggie and they told me at the shop when I tried it on that if I went with that particular dress I must order it 7 months prior AND…

I purchased my dress in June of last year and my wedding is June of this year. They highly suggested that I purchase the gown that fit me at the time of purchase because it is easier to take up than to add material. I have lost about 20 pounds since then and the lady doing my alterations says it won't be a problem. My…

Thanks everyone! I think this is what I am looking for! I will definitely try it. I don't really want to pickle them b/c there is so much sodium.

The limited!!!! I LOVE their style of clothes. Stylish yet conservative and I am a teacher so that is a plus. Plus - teachers get a discount if you show your id! I also like New york and company.

I like almonds as a snack, but one serving is more like 28 almonds! I also like Fiber One yogurt. It is light on the sodium as well. Raisins aren't exactly a fresh fruit, but have no sodium in them. I agree with the previous post - try to cook with fresh stuff, then frozen, then canned as a last result. Even frozen veggies…

I LOVE taco soup! I did change to only using dried beans as one serving can easily put you over the sodium limit for a day. I also changed it up and use boneless skinless chicken breast instead of ground meat. I cook the chicken in the crockpot over night and then shred it in the morning-add the other ingredients and let…

I think it depends on what a cheat day really means to you. My 'cheat day' is every Sunday after a 6 mile run. I have lunch at my aunt's house and dinner at my dad's. It is nearly impossible to figure out the calorie count when I don't cook it so I just make sure I eat one small serving of each food cooked. To me a cheat…

totally! Running one in May and then hoping to train for a full!

It's only been 5 days! It was at least 2 weeks before I ever saw a change and then I actually gained a pound before I started losing 1-2 pounds consistently! It will start to drop - continue working hard!
-
I started running in 2009 and only did 5ks (at 181 pounds). Then, in September of 2009 I started training for my first 1/2 marathon. The weight started melting off!! I have now completed 3 1/2 marathons. I'm training for the cincinatti flying pig this May and then I am hoping to continue my training for a full in December!…

Definitely a specific plan! High protein, low carbs (complex carbs), 2 dairy per day, lots of veggies, 1-2 fruits, only whole grains. . .you get the picture. . .

I just bought a really big container of it!!!! I didn't buy it to eat with fruit as yogurt though. I read a post where lots of people put it on anything they would put sour cream on. So I got it as a sour cream substitute!

I spin and lift 3 times a week and then I run 3 days a week. For me, if I take off once I will do it again so I just force myself to go. However, if you are tired and starving you must not be eating enough nor are you eating what your body needs. Take a double look at your calories and see if you need to increase them. As…

I LOVE applebee's!!! That is my 'safe' place to go out to eat because I know I can eat there and stay under my calories. I usually do a 1/2 grilled chicken salad, but I request salsa instead of salad dressing and the tomato basil soup is EXCELLENT! I also love the 'under 550' calorie menu. They even have 'skinny' drinks…
