  • By law, after a certain number of hours, your boss must allow you to have a lunch break.
  • When people say they are going to "quit" or "give up" I am always confused. Quit and go back to what? Eat whatever you want and potentially have life threatening health problems in the future? Even if I didn't lose a pound, but I was exercising and eating a healthy diet, I would still see that as a positive change and the…
  • I will say I was a little disappointed that Jillian would sell diet pills instead of only promoting healthy nutrition and exercise, but that doesn't stop me from respecting her as a trainer. I have done her 30 Day Shred and am now doing her Ripped In 30 and I have never gotten better results! Nobody's life is perfect and…
  • I did C25K in the beginning of my weight loss and on off days I would ride my bike, play basketball with my boyfriend, or I would do strength training like weights, kettle bells, squats, lunges, etc, Some days I would focus on legs, some on arms or stomach, etc. If you have a smart phone, the Nike Training Club app is free…
  • Sounds like a plan! I have a hard time following number 3 most days along with worrying about the past.
  • The lose 1.5lbs a week is just an estimation. Some people lose faster or slower than others. 4 lbs in 4 weeks is not something to be discouraged about. I remember when I was about 5-6 lbs shy on being in the 100s and it seemed like it took forever to get there, but it did! Make sure that if you set your calories to 1440…
  • Don;t be intimidated with working out. It is hard for everyone who is trying to get fit. When I first started running or with crossfit, I could barely do more than 10mins, but with a consistent plan and healthy diet, I am getting stronger and better and more confident. Your body needs to be active to stay healthy, it was…
  • It would truly be difficult to gain 5lbs in just one day since 1lb=3,500 calories and your body already burns an average of 2,000 calories a day. That would mean you would have had to of eaten more that 17,500 calories yesterday. When you gain pounds like that, it is usually due to water retention from eating sodium rich…
  • UPDATED* Just thought I would post front progress pics from the beginning to now after I just completed the 30 day shred! I can definitely see a change in my stomach! Jillian kicked my *kitten*!
  • I am a firm believer that in order to lose inches you need to do strength training. In the beginning, I did a lot of cardio based workouts to drop the weight and it did happen for me, but it wasn't until I started lifting weights when my body began to build muscle and tone and made me look "less flabby" and lowered my body…
  • I don;t see anything absolutely crazy in your diary so I would just recommend making sure that the amount your are eating is accurate and properly measured so you are logging your calories correctly (you may already be doing that) and make sure that when you are working out that you change it up and it may help you. If you…
  • You can lose weight without exercising. If you are gaining weight, maybe you need to readjust your current eating habits for a more stationary lifestyle. I would also recommend that if you are having issues with your lower body, maybe you could focus on some more upper body exercising and weight training. Losing body fat…
  • There are TDEE calculators online that you can use where you enter some information such as your height, weight, age, sex, and level of activity and it will calculate how many calories you burn per day. That would be the number of calories you could consume without gaining any weight. EDIT: Obviously if you decrease or…
  • I am not familiar with either book, but I was a smoker for many years. About 6 months ago, I quit, cold turkey. I think I could finally quit because I really wanted to. If you try to quit when honestly, you really aren't motivated to stop smoking, you will just go back. After I got sick with strep throat, my co-worker's…
  • The size of your body does not determine whether or not you are "good enough." I have heard from people who have lost a large amount of weight who still don't love themselves or are satisfied with their bodies even when reaching their goals. Weight loss is both a physical and emotional journey and regardless of what the…
  • 2lbs of fat would be 7,000calories on top of your calories needed to maintain your current weight. I highly doubt that you ate that much food in one night. It is more probable that you may have eaten sodium rich food that caused you to retain water and so you have some water weight. Stay away from the scale, drink lots of…
  • I used the Podrunner 5k Interval Program and it helped me a lot! I'm now starting up their 8K program.
  • "Health foods" and "healthy foods," in my opinion are different. "Health foods" sound like something from Whole Foods that's "organic" and pricey (which is not a bad thing!). "Healthy foods" is what I consider the correct foods necessary for your body and all it's organs to work properly.
  • NO!... You are not always going to see the scale move every week. It might be that you are losing weight, but you have water retention and it isn't showing yet. Body measurements are much more accurate. Your calorie intake really depends on your size and how active you are. You should never eat below 1200 calories and if…
  • I calculated my lean body mass which is about 130lbs and I read that it is recommended to eat about 1gram of protein per lb of lean body mass. At 30% protein, it sets me at 123grams of protein, which is fairly close. By doing this, it is supposed to help you retain your muscle tissue and instead, lose fat. Again, I'm no…
  • The same for me as the above poster, it changes every 10 lbs usually, but I have recently manually changed it based on my TDEE.
  • I think you are eating really well and I don't see anything that sticks out, but I was curious about your settings for your carbs, protein, fats. I have heard and am currently trying the 40% carbs, 30% protein & fats. Your protein daily goal seems a bit low. I'm no expert, but that's my 2 cents :) Great job on the loss so…
  • You need to be eating at least 1200 calories minimum for your body to properly function AND eat back your exercise calories. If your settings are based on your TDEE and your settings are lightly active, you should be eating more like 1600+ depending on your size, etc and that would include already your exercise calories.…
  • That's true for me too!
  • Agreed. Some people think that if you are under what your goal calories are then you are doing great. The point is to reach your goal and possibly going over by 100 or so is not going to hurt you. Anything less than 1200 calories will cause you to be hungry, especially on days where you exercise.
  • I can't see your diary, but how many calories do you allow yourself to eat per day? If you are not eating enough your body might be giving you warning signs now. If you are eating a good amount of calories, then maybe you should go to the doctor and see if there is something else that is the matter.
  • You can add me if you want! I am happy to have new friends, I have an open diary and log every day.
  • ^ I completely agree!
