Look up the book "Convict Conditioning" it is all about building strength using body weight exercises. No power rack needed for that, just a body.

Don't worry about it. I started the Stronglifts 5X5 and felt really self conscious when I was starting with an empty Olympic bar. I thought everyone was looking at me. Nobody was, they were focussed on their own workout. Starting with low weights helps you develop good form. This is essential before you move up to "Heavy".…

Step away from the Smith machine. Use an Olympic bar and learn proper technique, it uses more of your body and ultimately gets better results.

Great work. I'm also an awkward Brit and my current objective is to get under 17st. Been plateaued at 17 2 for nearly two months but I will get there. I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5 so even though the weight isn't dropping I'm changing shape. Weight is just one of the numbers and I'm not exclusively focussed on that. Any tips…

Our local run today had a fancy dress theme as one of the regulars was starting here Hen Party with a 5k run. I was lapped by one "bridesmaid", but managed to keep ahead of the main bridal party.
