Wow - that is very interesting. I recently moved from Minnesota to Florida and have discovered all kinds of sinus issues due to allergies (which I had never had in my life before moving here). My sinuses are always "swollen" and my ears often don't feel well. I didn't think it could cause a headache, though. Thanks for…

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your comments and that you took the time to respond!

I moved last year from Minnesota to Florida - and I think the heat and sweating has a lot to do with it. I often notice when my electrolytes are off, I get a fluttery heart. I think I will go to Costco and pick up some coconut water to use before and after I ride (in addition to water). I hadn't thought of this - thanks!

The head-ache is kind of a throbbing one (you know, where your head is like pulsating) not so much of a tension or muscular headache. There was no sunlight when we rode yesterday. I may be clenching and very likely that I'm not breathing correctly. How do you learn the right way to breathe?

very smart!!!

Good point!
As a fitness trainer this is my school of thought. On that 1-10 scale where 1 is resting and 10 is MAX work (meaning you can not continue at his pace) staying between 6-8 is a good. Also, adding intervals is very effective for calorie burn/fat loss. After warm up try doing 30 sec or longer high intensity intervals…

Good Information. It is just so confusing - all of the different schools of thought out there. I just don't know which one to subscribe to, ya know! I don't think that I would need a fit-bit to keep me motivated, but definitely want to be within the right ranges to ensure that my various levels of exercising is effective.

How do you feel the fit bit helps when you're doing classes or when doing weight training? Isn't it only good for walking / running?
With respect to effort, just work on rate of perceived exertion. If you feel as if your pushing yourself hard enough, then you probably are, if you feel you have more in you, then push harder. I hear what you are saying, but I feel concerned about a couple of things. Maybe you could help me understand them? 1.…

I love the classes and probably wouldn't go to a gym with just weights and machines. I say gym 2 : -)

perfect, thank you!!!

Last night, I tried Vanilla Egg White Protein (Jay Robb brand??), mixed it with a little soy milk, banana and frozen blueberry and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! No grit; no aftertaste; very satisfying!

What a good point! I do have to remind myself that I am NOT a victim (even if I sound dramatic enough to be one...lol). This IS my choice and I'm counting on feeling better because I'm <trying> to make a better choice. Thank you for that little bit of perspective - I needed that!!!

Well, it's good to see I'm not alone. I work out 4 to 5 times per week and am gaining weight...that feels horrible! I know that sugars = calories and I tend to think that I may not be the best at keeping myself reigned in, so maybe trying to get off of it as much as possible is the better way for me to go. I think sugar is…

What is Keto?

There is a formula...like .5 to every pound you weight - or something like that. cannot remember!

I am lactose intolerant. I purchased a smallish pouch of egg protein over the weekend that I will try this week. I don't like the idea of any sweeteners because we don't know much about stevia, but I'm going to give it a go : )
-
I am reading reviews of this and some people say it "bulks" them up...has that been your experience?
-
I'm not really a body-builder, so I'm wondering if there is a chance for someone to get "too much" protein? I just want to maintain healthy weight, feed my body properly after a workout and then...be able to go to sleep without fears of aspiration : -) I think when I hear bodybuilding, I freak out a little.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I will try to increase my calories to accomodate for working out. One thing I'm afraid is making me so hungry is that I love processed sugar! Candy, cakes, cookies, sweets of all sorts. I am struggling to curb the craving for those things.

I had a Heller Myotomy with a Dor (partial - Nissen is full) Fundoplication, so you are spot on. At first, for about 4 months post op, I could only eat small amounts and got full very quickly. But now, I'm back into full swing with being able to eat more at each sitting and I'm feeling hungrier. Please tell me...can your…

I think the moral of the story here is: we must love ourselves, sweat and all and try to not be so self conscious about it. Maybe we just have to accept the fact that our bodies are built differently than others and we sweat and get red-faced when we exercise. It is sounding more and more like there really is not anything…

Hmmm...I'm actually not in REALLY poor shape and it would appear that the other readers / posters who may even be in better shape have indicated that it is not a result of the shape one is in that causes sweating and red faces. Could I be in better shape, sure! I think that is why we are all here. Kind of chuttzpah, I have…

My face does the same thing...I was just talking about it on another threat as I am also an excessive sweater. When I'm done w/ a spin class, it looks like someone dragged my face through a strawberry patch! Hope it helps for you to know that you are not alone : -) Keep up the good work!

LOL...I have to have a towel or hankie everywhere also! I went to Italy many years ago and the first purchase I made while I was out sightseeing was a towel from a street vendor so that while I walked, I could mop up along the way...ha! I am definitely not feeling self conscious about sweating (as compared to others who…

Thank you for your feedback! I do not have these issues under basic circumstances, like walking up and down stairs; only when I'm really working out. BUT...I am all too familiar with SVT! I had been diagnosed 25 years ago with Atrial Tach - they thought it was Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome and tried to cauterize during an…

Thank you for the advice! I joined a gym recently and got one free hour w/ a personal trainer and she pounded me on eating something as soon as I wake up to give me energy and spark my metabolism. She made the analogy that we wouldn't drive a car without putting fuel into it, so we need to treat our bodies the same. I'm…

I don't think it's necessary to be so defensive. I'm sorry you too the posts that way. Frankly, I learned something about HFCS and Sucros that I didn't know. Personally, I am very grateful for the information. So, thanks laugh:
