BBQ Sauce?

Another great reason to be in Canada. No HFCS in our ketchup!!
I did hear that Hunts Ketchup has none in the US.
I have no idea about BBQ sauce. Good luck!
Can you tell me the metabolic differences between sucrose and HFCS?
There virtually is none. HFCS is 53 percent fructose 47 percent glucose while sucrose (white table sugar) is 50/50 as is honey. Agave nectar which is touted as a healthy alternative because of it's low glycemic index is as much as 92 percent fructose which has a much lower GI than glucose.
The problem with fructose is quantitative rather than qualitative. In order to be used as fuel in the body it must be processed by the liver into either glucose and stored as glycogen or triglycerides to be transported to adipose tissue to be stored as fat. In seriously excess quantities it can lead to fatty liver disease

Knock it off. This is my thread. Just stop it. Now! It's a stupid benign argument. I hate it. It's my goddamn body. I don't want to eat HFCS. I don't need to answer to you. Knock it off and stir up crap on someone elses thread.
I was questioning the poster who was sooooo happy her ketchup dind't have HFCS, and inquiring what exactly the differences are that would make her happy it didn't contain it.
This is my thread, and I DO NOT WANT TO EAT HFCS. END OF DISCUSSION. THAT ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THAT.
I didn't realize threads were personal property. If you throw something out for discussion you have to expect people to express their opinions0 -
I'm done. good bye. You know, it's really a shame that people can't just answer the question without changing the entire topic. If you don't agree with what I am asking, or if you believe eating HFCS is fine, than by all means, continue, and move on with your life. I didn't ask about if eating it is OK or not or how it compares to table sugar or a snickers bar. I asked if you know where I can find BBQ that doesn't have it. That's all I asked. If you don't have an answer, then stay out and don't comment.
Bye, I'm done.
thank you to all the nice and intelligent people that responded properly and answered my question. I gtot what I needed and I'm out.
I don't think it's necessary to be so defensive. I'm sorry you too the posts that way. Frankly, I learned something about HFCS and Sucros that I didn't know. Personally, I am very grateful for the information. So, thanks laugh:0 -

Regular Stubb's BBQ sauce has sugar but no HFCS in it. That's one of the few I'll use.
Yes, Stubb's is the BEST. I mostly use the spicy, but every flavor I've tried has been delicious.
But it's fairly easy to make your own bbq sauce, and you don't need ketchup to do it. You can use canned or fresh tomatoes. You just have to cook it a little longer than if you started with ketchup.0 -

Are we to assume that you believe no metabolic difference between a natural product like honey and a processed product like HFCS = no valid reason not to want to eat the processed crap? Why do you care WHY he doesn't want to eat it? He asked for suggestions of bbq sauce, not for someone to hijack his thread with a science lesson in how our bodies process different types of sugar or what they thought he should eat. If you can't stick to the topic, why post?0 -
I didn't realize threads were personal property. If you throw something out for discussion you have to expect people to express their opinions
But he didn't "throw something out for discussion", he asked a specific question and, as per the norm on here, many responders felt that they needed to ignore his question and tell him why he was wrong for wanting to do what he wanted to do.
Had he posted a thread asking people if HFCS was really as bad as it was made out to be or if HFCS was really any different than sugar, then those replies would have been appropriate.
But he didn't. He asked where to find a specific kind of product that didn't contain a specific ingredient that he personally chooses not to consume. The only replies that would be considered on topic to what he threw out for discussion, were various BBQ sauce brands and where to find them. Anything else is off-topic and pointless to the conversation at hand.
More people on here need to realize that everyone is different and that not every thread is meant to be a place for them to push their personal beliefs about food and dieting on the person that posted.
Common MFP examples of this issue:
What's the best thing to eat at a fast food place? -Nothing, you should never eat there, it's terrible, how could you do that to yourself?
Should I use skim milk or soy? - OMG! Humans are made to consume milk at all, we're the only species that does. Soy is horrible and will fill your body with hormones and terrible things!
What's you're favorite microwavable meal? - Those things are full of sodium and you should just avoid them altogether.
These 100 calorie snacks are my new favorite weight loss snack! - Ugh, I don't eat anything that comes in a box or has an ingredients list. You should stick to whole foods.
I have carb shakes from starting Atkins, how can I make this better? - Just eat carbs, Atkins is stupid and the human body needs carbs to function so you should just eat carbs.
None of this crap is helpful in anyway. I know it's a public message board and freedom of speech and all that, but seriously, how hard is it to just have some respect for our fellow MFPers. These people are nothing but trolls, they aren't contributing anything helpful to the conversation and are being purposefully antagonistic. And they are doing it to someone that is on this board for the same exact reason that they are, to lose weight, get fit, and generally feel better about themselves. Which being preached at or trolled is not going to help at all.
Yes, we all have different beliefs, but you can still be helpful without coming across as a d*ck. I prefer not to eat fast food and try to stay low sodium. But when someone asks about fast food options, I first reply with a huge list of things at each of the different places I've eaten, and then maybe give a note here and there that I haven't eaten at that location for a long time, so there may be other options. Or if they ask about microwave meals, I can give a list of my favorite brands and preferred dishes from each one, and then say that I do try to limit them though, because of the sodium content.
And I don't support super low-carb diets and have never tried one. So if someone asks a question in regards to one, I just move on, because I have nothing helpful to add to the conversation. It's really not that difficult. It saves me the time of typing up a post that the OP doesn't care to read and stops the thread from running off-topic. I wish more people would do the same.
Now, on the actual topic. I have found some BBQ sauce from the local grocery stores as well as specialty food stores that don't have HFCS. I really like the brand from Smokin' Mo's BBQ. No HFCS, and a couple of the flavors are super low in sodium and sugar. I also recently found a brand called Red Tail Ale that is really, really good. I have tried one that I wouldn't recommend, it's a brand called Robbie's, not very flavorful and just sort of an odd aftertaste.0 -
BBQ sauce is the only source of HFCS in my diet. I only eat about 2 TBSP per day, so I highly doubt it's a big deal at all.0
