BBQ Sauce?

I cannot seem to find BBQ sauce that does not have HFCS in the ingredients. I haven't looked that hard, but I look at every store I go to, and it's just not available. Does anyone have suggestions? I love BBQ sauce so much. But, all recipes to make it at home usually involve ketchup, which also has HFCS. So, I'm at a loss. There has to be a product out there without HFCS.

Thanks.

Make your own ketchup first. Then use that in your homemade BBQ sauce. And there are ketchups now with no HFCS. Look harder.

Yeah...that was a little snide. I don't eat the stuff myself, but if I did, I'd be happy to give you tips. Good luck : -)

Regular Stubb's BBQ sauce has sugar but no HFCS in it. That's one of the few I'll use.

What is your beef with HFCS? Do you avoid all sugar?

Double-check your supermarket for Simply Heinz ketchup, which does not contain HFCS. Since the bottles look almost the same as the regular Heinz, you may have overlooked it. If for some reason you can't find it, you can get it on Amazon for $4 (34 ounces).

Try Walden Farms, I heard their BBQ sauce is good:

    No High Fructose Corn Syrup.
  • Bulls-Eye brand, made by Kraft. The original flavor is the only one in my fridge but I remember they removed the HFCS a few months back.

I would say go homemade, then you don't have to worry about it at all, and they usually keep for between 1-2 weeks. below is a link to some Paleo condiment recipes. I have tried a few, they are pretty good

I use Bull's Eye Texas Style. I can vouch for the Texas to have NO HFCS, but this site has reviews and lists ingredients that suggest none of the four have HCFS. I can't speak to the taste of the other three, but the Texas style is good and is what I use when I make pulled chicken for dinner.

I did hear that Hunts Ketchup has none in the US.

Can you tell me the metabolic differences between sucrose and HFCS?

It's not helpful to say "look harder". The stores I shop in don't have it. So, now what?

I can google how to make my own ketchup. Thanks.

Tomato paste, vinegar, honey or sugar to taste, spices to taste.

Knock it off. This is my thread. Just stop it. Now! It's a stupid benign argument. I hate it. It's my goddamn body. I don't want to eat HFCS. I don't need to answer to you. Knock it off and stir up crap on someone elses thread.

I was questioning the poster who was sooooo happy her ketchup dind't have HFCS, and inquiring what exactly the differences are that would make her happy it didn't contain it.

He asked a legit question, that's all. It is your body do what you want with, but I too am curious why you're against HFCS? It's pretty delicious.

There virtually is none. HFCS is 53 percent fructose 47 percent glucose while sucrose (white table sugar) is 50/50 as is honey. Agave nectar which is touted as a healthy alternative because of it's low glycemic index is as much as 92 percent fructose which has a much lower GI than glucose.

The problem with fructose is quantitative rather than qualitative. In order to be used as fuel in the body it must be processed by the liver into either glucose and stored as glycogen or triglycerides to be transported to adipose tissue to be stored as fat. In seriously excess quantities it can lead to fatty liver disease

I want to get in on this argument please.

HFCS was my idea BTW. Helping Fat Children Squat was my charity and summer camp since '01 and i demand repatriation for these atrocities
