  • I am so sorry you are dealing with medical issues in this battle, they do make it harder to win the war. But help me understand....you must eat or you would not be over weight....even those who do not eat enough for a balanced plan eventually lose weight, although mostly lean muscle mass. Is it that you don't eat the right…
  • Congratulations on your accomplishment! You look fit, beautiful and healthy!
  • What the above poster said and also, two weeks is NOT a plateau.
  • You are lovely. and it sounds as if you are healing not only your body but your soul. Congratulations on your success!
  • So Adam Lanza killed 26 people because he was an entitlement brat? Okay......
  • Personally, ANY child who threatens to kill someone, regardless of whether they have a behavior affecting condition, should be taken seriously. I have no doubt that this mother of Adam's was negligent in having the guns in the house. His violent nature most likely had more to do with another of the disorders that…
  • No offense taken...it just bothers me to see people blame autism for this horror. For every violent child out there who has autism there are six who don't. Autism does not make you violent. And every person out there who is odd or different is not autistic. Once again the media has loosed a Pandora's Box of misinformation…
  • Violence is not the norm in an autistic child and autism is not a mental illness. The media, in their handling of this tragedy, have done a huge injustice to autistic people and the ones who love them.
  • It is very common to see a maintain or even a slight gain the week after a big loss. With women there is also the possibility that you are packing water weight on if you are nearing your period. After about 6 weeks you will begin to see a pattern....for me, in a month, it is Lose, lose big, lose small then maintain or…
  • There is a stairway but you have to climb it to get in to Heaven. Maybe only fit people go to Heaven. Of course that emans I am going to Hell. Everyone knows going downstairs is easier than upstairs.
  • In all honesty, no it is not realistic. We have nearly the same stats. I eat well, rarely exceed my set calories for the day, work out a minimum of six days a week, It has taken me 8 weeks to lose a hair over 16 pounds. BUT as you get closer to goal the bigger weekly losses are very hard to achieve. And although people…
  • 3500 calories burned/consumed below what you consume to lose 1 pound...so 52,500 calories. In nineteen days.....so my deficit would need to be over 2700 per day for 19 days? Ummm,....no.
  • Okay I will look up how to do them on the leg press. But I'm old. and fat and waaaay out of shape so I don't think 150lbs is going to happen lol. Thanks though, at least I know where to start now.
  • Am I achieving anything by doing them with 10 pound weights in each hand then or does the weight have to be on my legs in the form of ankle weights or something? I am just doing them at home in addition to the circuit at the gym.
  • Listen to your body and feed it accordingly. Yes it is more work but what are the alternatives? My daughter works full time and yet manages to feed my grandson a diet that contains absolutely no gluten or dairy while still managing to keep the rest of ehr family fed as well. It can be done.
  • You are NOT alone.....love that man!
  • Other than going somewhere and paying money how can we know our lean body mass?
  • Nice work! You are beautiful!
  • Because some doctor's are quacks and will write you a scrip for anything if you want it. Most doctor's and medical journals advise against these types of drugs except in the case of extreme obesity and even then it is a short term scrip to be followed by a healthy eating plan and exercise. Now if you hit up one of those…
  • I hope you do realize that it is not physiologically possible to lose 12 pounds of fat in 6 days. You would need to create a calorie deficit of 7000 calories a day to lose two pounds a day. What you have lost is water weight and after about the first two weeks that will stop and you will slow down on the losses. Two pounds…
  • No adjustments to diet will tone you, that must be done with exercise. As for adding calories to your day....so easy. Full fat salad dressings, full fat mayo and cheeses. Avocado, cook with healthy oils instead of cooking sprays. Oh and full fat milk. and yogurts. You'll be surprised how quickly the calories add up!
  • At age 50 I know that I will be facing this problem when the weight comes off. I have a friend who had GBS and it aged her horribly. She is ten years younger than I am and has three times the wrinkles. But sometimes we have to make the decision of health over appearance.
  • Carbonated water with a splash of real juice...from a health stand point you are no better off drinking diet than regular. It's all a chemical sh*tstorm.
  • Hmmm I have a pedometer that does that already(not the sleeping part though) so maybe I only need my HRM. Sure would like to find out what my true BMR and TDEE are though.
  • I have been told by two people who do free weights that the machines won't do anything for me but I am very weak in my upper body and when I started on the machines 6 weeks ago I was doing the lowest weight possible on almost every upper body machine. I am still only doing small numbers but they are over double where I…
  • I don't get it...why not just eat a meal with a comparable calorie count....the benefit of that being you get to CHEW your food which we as adults are supposed to do(not to mention our stomach and intestines is designed to digest food) and you also learn the ins and outs of eating and preparing proper nutritious meals. By…
  • Yes only a blood test can tell you for sure but if it is ONLY your knees it is highly unlikely that it is RA. RA also has many symptoms in addition to the horrendously painful and swollen joints and it rarely singles out only one particular joint to attack. You should still see a doctor even for the RA. They can not…
  • Lots of information! Thank you all, I will need to mull this over for a day or two. It does sound like I will need both as I want to figure more accurately my TDEE but also track my heart rate. Thanks again, you guys were a wealth of info for this newbie :-)
  • I never even give lettuce a second thought. I truly can say I did not get fat from eating lettuce. it was all the crap I was putting on the lettuce and the fattening stuff I ate along side the the salad.
  • Bueller? Anyone?
