Any women who lost their weight after age 50?
I am turning 50 in 2 months and with all the sagging and stretch marks I already know that surgery may be in my future. I'm doing this right this time, eating well and exercising every day but am really seeing the difference in the speed of loss as compared to when I was younger. Any one out there around my age that would…

Losing weight vs. gaining muscle
I've read the input regarding the inability to build muscle while losing weight and the premise makes sense on paper. What I don't get is why while losing these 30 pounds, I have also been working out on the weight machines and the muscles in my arms have become much more defined. In the past I lost far more, (72 pounds)…

If you use that "cup" thing during TOM...
where in the heck do you wash it out when you are in public? Or even at home for that matter if you live with others and share a bathroom?

Strength machine successes?
I keep reading how the machines are basically a waste of time, you must use free weights to build muscle, you can't build muscle while eating at a deficit etc. Anyone out there have pictures that shows their success in building muscle(even smaller amounts) while losing weight and using the machines? Am I wasting my time on…

Calf raises? Effective?
Have you found these to be good for building muscles in the calves? Being fairly new to working out I am only doing the circuit machines at the Y and there is no machine that targets this area. I bike and/or walk every day but would it be worth my while to incorporate the calf raises to begin building muscle there? Or are…

HRM or the Body Media?
Anyone out there have experience with a Polar HRM and /or the Body Media? Pros and cons of each? Is there one over the other that is known to be more accurate on counting calories? I've never used either, though I do have a Polar HRM that just ended up sitting in a drawer.

Adjusting your calories?
For those of you who have adjusted your calories to a higher number than what MFP gave you, how did you decide on the number that works/is working for you?

Anyone lose a large amount eating higher calories?
Or rather, more calories than the number of calories recommended by MFP?

Begin running or increase incline??? Advice please
I've been walking for a month, every single day and I am walking about a 3.3 pace and am up to 60 minutes. I supplement that with time on the bike because the treadmill only allows us 60 minutes at the Y. I do not get winded at all and my heart rate rarely climbs over 127. When I increase the speed it puts me into a slow…

Introducing my self
I've been here since October 15th and figured it was time to actually introduce myself. I'm Melanie and I live in Southern California, married 30 years, have four kids, two grand kids, a mortgage etc etc etc. Cats instead of dogs but no white picket fence. My story is much like many others....grew up in an unhealthy…
