  • seems like you do lose weight faster in the beginning. Also, you must be eating alot less calories than you were before. Creating a large calorie deficit between meals and exercise will provide results. Great job.
  • Glad you joined MFP, I am sure you will find plenty of support here. Is there any type of food plans that you have tried? Lower carb? The lower carb has helped alot of my symptoms and helped me to lose the last bit of weight and maintain current weight.

  • Both of my parents ate high carb/high sugar foods as long as I can remember. Very rich foods-dessert with every meal. My dad has super metabolism and has always been thin, even today at age 86. My mother on other hand ate same foods but gained weight easily. I only remember her as obese. She would overeat when depressed. I…
  • My sister is in her early 40's and has 2 bulging disks in her neck. She is a hairdresser so has alot of arm movements which agitates it. Finally this year, she has started received nerve block injections every 4 months. This seems to help her quite a bit to manage pain. She also does stretches and yoga to take some…

  • I am 41 and have same experience - sometimes I can actually feel my face flushing/red/hot. I stay hot all the time. I am on a very low carb diet as I am prediabetic. This is definitely different than hormonal hot flashes. I havent found any scientific explanations either.

  • Keeping insulin stable helps with weight loss: Step 1: Eat in 3s What’s the key to eating in 3s? It’s easy! Eat every 3 hours, and divide your plate into thirds: one-third protein, one-third fat, and one-third carbs. Our bodies “want” to eat every 3 hours, as it’s their natural eating schedule dating back from early…
  • If most of your food intake is when your hubby is eating junk food...maybe that is a small bond you two have together. I have heard of people who dread quitting smoking/drinking because that is a big thing they have in common with spouse. It will be tough - but if you want to be healthier and happier about your choices -…
  • If you cut carbs that low be sure to get plenty of fats, electrolytes and water.
  • Have you ever read about candida albicans overgrowth? It causes bloating and can cause loose stool or constipation. It is fairly easy to get...alcohol, antibiotics, birth control, etc. It is where the bad bacteria get out of control and it can be very frustrating. There are some natural treatments as well as medical. Some…
  • The frittata is great. I also add Turkey sausage
  • I think some women are from the old school and don't like to ask for things or cause any waves. My Mom tried to keep peace a lot. Moms can drive you nuts, but honestly when they see us getting healthier it seems foreign to them. Change scares some people. It really has nothing to do with you at all. Keep doing whatever you…
  • I have lost 97 pounds over the past two years. I do believe that people do break down carbs/sugars differently or are more sensitive to them. It was a struggle in the beginning, even though I was watching my calories and exercising regularly. Halfway through my weight loss, my doctor told me that I was pre diabetic. I then…
  • Low sugar/Lower Carb Higher protein works for me. I lost 97 pounds and am able to maintain my weight. Calorie intake is important but I do believe some people are more sensitive to high carb/high glycemic diets.
  • Some people get on birth control to help rough periods...but I think you may have to try a few to find one that works good with your body. Some women says that progestin-dominant pills can cause cravings. When its that time of month, I take a midol, drink lots of water and still exercise, but take it down a notch. It…

  • I weigh daily and have noticed that my weight can fluctuate 1-5 pounds...so I don't worry about it. It all works itself out. Reasons scale can vary: menstrual salt/water retention constipation I usually weigh 3-5 pounds more while on period but within 1 week it is gone. I try to weigh around the same time daily (preferably…

  • Try lowering your sugar and carb intake for two weeks and see what happens
  • Actually it was two things...No one ever said anything about my weight. Being overweight is somewhat the norm in my family. 1.) I was on the scale at physicians office (in a clinical trial for 18 months) and just happened to look at my weight and a chart posted above scale. For my height and weight, it said my BMI was 37…
