I think what you need to understand in order to accomplish your goal and maintain your goal all the "low cal, no carb, weight watchers, and so on" can help you lose the weight, but you need to make your lifestyle change. It isn't about low cal and no carb it is about eating healthy and not over consuming. Stick with what…

Diet plans? I don't look at it as a diet. I just eat as healthy as possible. I like to eat organic whenever possible and stay away from processed foods. I enjoy exercising and have a passion for running. In order to lose weight you have to follow a few steps....1) Eat healthy 2) Watch your portions/calories 3) Exercise.…

I would suggest you talk to your parents about how important this is to you and they should be supportive on something so big as your health and well being. People just don't seem to take their health seriously enough. Explain to your parents it would a great thing as a family to live a healthy lifestyle to ensure not only…

So now that you have moved to a new place you have the oppourtunity to explore the area on foot, which I beleive is the best way to see a new place. You can go out and find out what people like about their small town. Get active and run, walk, bike, rollerblade whatever you do just get out there and view the town and see…

Yea my problem is I am eating the fruits, vegetables and the chocolate and pizza, because those are my long run days. I am just soooo hungry, because i burn so much everyday. I crave the greesy food. I limited myself to pizza only on my 10-15 mile run days. I have gained a lot of muscle I can see in my legs, but my stomach…

Chafing for runners in common in many different places. They make a product called Bodyglide that prevents the chafing. It looks like deodorant. You can find it online and in some running stores. The shoes I recommend every runner to go get a fit test at your local running store. They have you run on a treadmil and watch…

Same problem, but I have gained 5lbs. I have been running and cycling like crazy and eating so much food. I am going to only eat half of my exercise calories instead of all of them like I have been. Good news for you though that you noticed and stopped at the first pound. I would just make sure you are eating enough and…

They say it is about 700 calories you burn per hour. I spin also and I asked my instructor and did some research. Although HRM are a great tool there was aslo a recent study stating HRM overcalculate calories burned by as much as 30 percent. So I am sure it may be in the same ballpark, but it might give you a little more…

So what I learned from reading Runner's World is that is doesn't matter how fast or slow you run, you burn the same amount of calories no matter what. In order to calculate how much your body burns you take your body weight and times that be .72 and that will give you amount of calories you burn per mile. Since I have been…

I have the answer to cure your melting deodorant question... First off deodorant should be applied at night. Right before you go to bed apply your deodorant. Now you want be bringing this with you and having it melt. :) The reason to apply deodorant is at night, is people sweat less and the deodorant will absorb into your…

In 2005 I started the journey of weight loss and went from 222 to 177 I stayed at 177 until recently and now I am at 165. When you start getting closer to your goal it gets harder to lose weight. I understand being discourgaged and wanting the last 20 or so pounds off. Just keep in mind the last 20 will take some time. I…

Actually speed does NOT play a role in calories burned. You walk 6 miles you burn 600 calories you run 6 miles you burn 600 calories. This is why I decided to inform people of the equation about your body weight times by .72 and how this number gives you the accurate calories burned per mile. There was a recent study on…

There is no magic pill.... Eat healthy- The more color on your plate the better i.e. vegetables, fruits and so on. Portion Control- Too much of a good thing = a bad thing. Count every last thing you put in your mouth= you will realize you might be eating too much Exercise= I don't just mean run a mile here and there I mean…

So I guess I don't know what all has soy and corn in it, but without even knowing it I eat gluten free. So lots of fruits, vegatables, eggs, chicken, and salmon. I tend to eat the same thing every day, which I am sure is boring for some people, but I just find it easy. Sorry to hear about all your restrictions I am sure…

I will say your thighs will shrink as you lose weight as for cellulite that isn't something that will ever completely go away. As your fat cells shrink so does the cellulite, but doesn't vanish. I've lost 60lbs and my things are way smaller and toned, but I am now a runner and also lift as for the cellulite well still…

Hey I'm running a 1/2 marathon on May 2nd too! I am using a combination of Hal Hidgons and MarathonRookie.com You're set back isn't bad at all we still have a lot of time to train. The main thing that is alike in all trainings is short runs during the week and a long run on the weekend. I'm sure you will do great and be…

Very good thing to point out is the morning thing and one hour before you eat. That is super important as this medication is sensitive and reacts to others along with food.
-
When I started on Synthroid I was at 50mcg and now I'm at 200mcg and I lost 40lbs pretty quickly after the medication was under control and I was also eating right and excercising. It doesn't sound like you are eating enough calories though, which would for sure cause weight gain. Try eating at least 1400 a day and then…

I also have hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed in 2006 and it took about two years before they had the correct dosage. I don't know where the weight gain came from though. I will say it can be difficult to lose weight with a thyroid condition and you have to try extra harder. Also just so you know the medicaiton you are on,…

Thanks for all the advice. What's funny is the first time I looked up trainings I came across Hal Hidgon's. I think I am going to use an modify version of Hals in order to incorporate my cycling. What do people say about weight training while preparing for the 1/2 marathon? I currently lift four day per week in muscle…
-
Well that depends what muscle groups you are lifting and how you are lifting. I lift four days a week, but I workout in muscle groups. Mon Chest and Triceps and Abs Tues Back and Biceps Wed Legs and Abs Thurs Shoulders Fri Abs If you are doing full body then I would say every other day of upper body and lower body.

Well I am from Minnesota, but been living out here in Oregon for 8 months and since I come from the cold I enjoy the WARM weather. I workout at the gym six days a week. I get up at 4:30 am to get to the gym by 5am for cycle class on Tues, Thurs and Fri and run on Mon and Wed. I have notice about being in Oregon that there…

Well first off congrats on making the decision to join the Air Force. They are amazing. I tried joining last year as an Officer, but the Air Force is so competitive I did not advance after the written test. Secondly, COLD? you think it's cold here in Oregon?!?!? I beg to differ, but since I'm originally from Minnesota I…
