  • I am impressed how you used what most would take as a negative (You're dads' initial reaction) and turn it into a driving force. Your attitude towards not letting one or two bad days ruin your long term goals/outlook is spectacular as well. I congratulate you for what you have obviously worked hard to achieve as as well as…
  • This is the primary reason I would like a HRM. Right now I am going by perceived effort when I am doing easy runs, tempo runs, etc. I really don't know if I am in the right zone or not (My attitude and many other factors can have an affect on my P.E.). I may just go ahead and ask for the Forerunner 220 as a Christmas gift…
  • I am in the go see your Dr. camp. I had the same symptoms, as well as others, and it wound up being my thyroid. With medication, the symptoms have gone away. I still have a low resting heart rate, but I also run a lot now and I don't have the other symptoms I did have. This was the cause of my symptoms, not necessarily…
  • In my opinion, I could care less if my wife lost 50lbs or gained 50lbs (In regards to looks, but I'd become concerned about health.). I'm attracted to her for much more than just her physical attributes. I'll side with let each other obtain the physique each wishes to acquire so long as it's healthy.
  • I just wanted to point one thing out about holding onto the treadmill on an incline. If you are performing a target heart rate session, then you need to hold onto the grips which tell the treadmill what your HR is. If you don't, the treadmill will lower the incline and slow the pace. With regards to running vs incline…
  • Most of the hills which would be included on runs in our area are probably have about 100' rise in about an 1/8th of a mile. There's usually only one or two of these depending on the length of the run.
  • I took a break for a couple of months actually. Life happened and I wasn't really able to get to the gym. I got out of the habit of going, and it was kind of hard to start back again. I thought about exercising daily, but didn't follow through. One day I just went to they gym again and I'm back on track. I was going…
  • I keep my house clean, that bad boy is being rinsed off and then going down the gullet!
  • I'd say you're doing awesome! You're getting out there and at least walking, let alone doing so at a level which makes for a pretty intense level (going by your heart rate). I have no idea/experience with Sansone, so I can't comment on that part. I will say you're putting in the effort and enjoying it is something in which…
  • You can really see the progression you've made in the photos, even you as "The Blur". Great going on continuing to improve. Did you follow any plans to improve upon your times?
  • I did switch to a low drop shoe. I was thinking of wearing my old shoes and mixing in the new ones a bit more. Hopefully this will help with muscle imbalance I have on my qauds (upper legs.). My outer upper legs have more muscle than other parts to the point where it kind of looks like I'm bow legged. I think it could help…
  • I'm training for a half marathon right now, and it's an awesome feeling setting a new pr every week in regards to distance! If you feel the need for a challenge, I say sign up for a half marathon! It's something on my bucket list and on the way to the big running bucket list item of a marathon.
  • This is what I was going to say.
  • That's an awesome feeling isn't it? Congratulations on sticking with your plan and reaping the rewards. I have a similar story and I decided to keep the belt until I am at my goal weight. I am about to add another notch n it to tighten it up even more! Keep up the awesome work,.
  • Quaker granola cereal. It's healthy, filling, and it keeps me satisfied until lunch.
  • I completed c25k a couple of months ago and I have ran 2 5k events since then. I have also graduated to the novice 5k plan from Hal Higdon. In doing the novice plan, I have begun running distances of 6 miles +. I am looking to complete a half marathon sometime in the fall!
  • I've lost `43lbs to date and haven't bought new clothes yet, though I need to. I had some clothes stashed away that were a couple sizes smaller which has helped me out. I am about to go to Goodwill and buy some smaller jeans and smaller shirts.........Now to the question..... In 3 months I've gong form a tight fitting 42…
  • My wife has started to express I am doing too much. I think it's more a matter of she's been putting on weight and isn't happy with how she looks while I am loosing and looking better. I tell her all of the time I think she's beautiful, which I truly do, but I guess it's something she needs to feel for herself. My other…
  • When I put on my pants, which were too tight, and they bunch up around my waist. When I sit in my car, my assgroove in the seat feels strange because it's too big. When my shirts now feel like I am a kid wearing their dads' clothes. When family members I haven't seen in a few years were amazed when they saw me. When people…
  • Nobody has asked. I don't think I'd send anyone photos. I'd direct them to what is already publicy available here. One thing to always remember is that once a photo is sent, it's out there forever. Is it somehting you'd want your kids or others to stumble upon sometime in the future?
  • It depends. I just got through playing the wii about 10 minutes ago, and did a long run today and my HR is at 50 right now. In the morning, a few days ago, it was at 42. 3 months ago it was 62.
  • Introvert. I find dealing with people, and crowds, exhausting (I sometimes want to be in a crowd, but only as an observer because something interests me.). I work well in small groups of people and am normally slow to warm up to people in real life (The net is so much easier for some reason.). I am perfectly happy in my…
  • I posted once already and then read the thread, hence the second post. I am happy I saved some old clothes. The jeans, at my heaviest, now are very ill fitting and bunched up. I am also able to wear work out clothes from when I was in decent shape about 10-12 years ago. Those are the NSV's that put a smile on my face more…
  • It took my loosing around 20-25 lbs for my co-workers and family to start noticing. I've lost a lot in my face, now the rest of me needs to catch up.
  • My NSV for today is that I when I went to tighten my belt......There wasn't another hole to make it tighter. The belt still performs its' task, but fits loosely now.
  • I love these threads. It appears I have lost a cinder block so far.
  • I'll respond in hopes you come back and read this. You should be very proud of yourself for overcoming the feeling of "I can't do this" and finding out that you can do this. As you progress into other training programs and obstacles remember and use this accomplishment to help push you through. It helped me to do my 5 mile…
  • When I started a couple months ago, this was a problem for me as well. I have found eating small and healthy snacks such as almonds and dried fruit helps a lot with cravings. Dried cranberries really help when I am craving sweets. After a run, I will do 8oz of 1% milk with a scoop of protein powder, peanut butter on whole…
  • You look like great! The difference from your start is phenomenal!
  • Congrats! Now it's about time for a new pair of running shoes. (based on average life expectancy).
