  • There are three benefits to a trainer 1. Accountability. You have someone expecting you to be at the gym at a specified time. 2. Help with creating a workout plan. If you were not an athlete, do not have a specific plan you are following, or need the extra help a trainer can do that for you. 3. Execution of moves. It is…
  • My TOM issue is chocolate. I am not a big sweets person or chocolate eater except during that TOM! So, I buy Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Chips and they are like 80 cals for 16 and that is enough to keep me going. I also try to make sure i exercise right when I think about it. Every little bit helps, and sometimes I take the…
  • l lift in the 8-12 rep range and I was eating at a caloric deficit. I was always starving on lift days and at times felt tired and weak. So, I upped to 10% below TDEE and I dropped fat and got stronger and was not tired or hungry. My output in the gym has been awesome. But I am still at at 10% deficit!! So, it can be done!…
  • OMG this is awesome! The guys at my gym have suddenly sprouted vaginas apparently. Because according to popular belief girls are the ones who stand in circles and talk to one another, talk on their phones, text, and do endless amounts of cardio....well if that is a girl, then we have a lot of tall hairy ones at my gym, and…
  • I have read in many places that 5x5 is more for strength while 3x10 is more for size/hypertrophy. I think a lot of people like 5x5 because they see the constant strength gains. It also seems easier to do 5 reps than 10 in a set... ??? I think it would be best to try a few weeks on both and notice how you feel/look.…
  • If someone's pic is cut off, right click the image and choose view image. this will open just the pic in full size to view... But to all of you out there posting your pics - You all are super amazing and inspirational!!! WTG you all have clearly worked hard for the results you have had so far!!!
  • NO! Not to be harsh but the purpose of cardio is to get your heart rate up and keep it up for a long period of time. Cardio means heart and when doing cardio you are working your heart. Strength training can raise your heart rate but it is not kept up for a long period of time. Strength training is training to gain…
  • If you are this tall and weigh this much stick with the higher #. I am 5'11" and when I went through all of my testing I came out to 1600-1800 once I stopped following MFP and followed this...I dropped. If you are exercising at all, stick with the higher number. 1200 is for a small woman who is in a coma. That is the…
  • I say go for it! If you really want it...do it. I had plastic surgery for ME. And I NEVER regretted it! It was something I really wanted, weighed the decision and got it when I was 27! You are beautiful, with or without it. But I understand completely. I feel like after my surgery I look like I always envisioned…
  • OK, I find this completely hilarious. My husband and I joke about many of these and sometimes in an argument he will call me out on it. But in all honesty I think you are right. If we women would be more open to realizing we are this way ***(not EVERY woman, I know we are not all from the same box) and men understood this,…
  • I agree with this. I started gaining again, but found out about TDEE and started eating more and dropped a ton of weight in 2 weeks. I really think if you up your cals even by 200-300 you will start seeing results. If you are in the gym you NEED to fuel your body. Try this link but be sure to watch the video first!…
  • You have made a very strong start! You can do this and your half! Just remember it is a marathon not a sprint. Have that same "settle in the zone and go" mentality that comes with running with your new plans. Make a plan ahead of time so you know what is coming. Plan each and every meal and snack and have the food on hand.…
  • I too am doing NROL4W and I love it. It does get kinda crazy, but as for the pen and paper, I put it on 3X5 cards and literally used string to tie a pencil to it. It is so small I wrap it around my water bottle (I have to have with me) or sometimes put it in my iPhone armband. I am looking at starting SL5X5 when I finish…
  • Zachary Levi!!!!! Oh and Hugh Jackman! My hubby looks a lot like Hugh, so I win there! ;)
  • Holy Crap...how awesome! You can tell in your face, yes, but everywhere else too! You stomach is much flatter and you have a defined waist, and your arms are thinner! WTG!!! You are doing awesome. CONGRATS!!!
  • WOW!!! Fantastic job! You have done amazing! Keep up the good work, it is showing!!!
  • Fab job, I am totally checking out his lifting program when I finish the one I am on!!! CONGRATS and you look (and probably feel) pretty awesome!
  • Foot of the Rocky Mountains in Northern Colorado USA! So awesome to see where everyone is on here! GREAT POST
  • Up your calorie intake. You are probably eating too few cals and it is catching up with you. For a week up it by 200, be sure to eat back all of your workout cals, you may be surprised by how much you lose too! If you are not consuming enough to simply sustain your organs the life and energy they need, eventually you will…
  • Thank you so much everyone. The attendants and trainers at my gym are awesome. One spotted me on my deadlifts today and she said my form was perfect. I did look everything up on youtube before. I am feeling more comfortable, but it is weird because I am used to much more intense and longer workouts. I do know it is working…
  • No, you will not build muscle until you use weight. You can not build muscle unless you break your muscles down. This does not happen without weight.
  • Just started New Rules of Lifting for Women. It focuses on full body lifting rather than spot-training. Have many friends with awesome results with it!!!
  • As far as I have heard....if you are eating clean, eating whole foods, eating un-processed foods, then you should be able to eat as much fruit as you want. I eat Paleo, and I eat TONS of fruit. The sugars in fruit are good for you and your body processes them easily. So, as long as you are not causing your stomach distress…
  • My guess is after a while it gives you raging diarrhea and you end up crapping out all the weight! haha (sorry to be so blunt) I know there have been other schemes that work this way too... but your body gets no benefits from anything you eat not just no fat...I say leave it alone! IMO
  • I have seriously tried so many water bottles, camelbaks, etc. The best thing I have found so far is the camelbak Delaney hip pack. It holds a camelbak water bottle and has a small pocket for keys, phone, iPod whatever....shank maybe??? Depends on where you live lol. But I like this water bottle because it does not pour out…

  • Lost and average two-year old..... goal is a small bale of hay! FUN!
  • Hi, anyone who knows me or is a pal of mine on here could tell you that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pauline Nordin's butt bible. It has gotten me into lifting and it can be done with hand weight, dumbells, and level 3 calls for a barbell - but in all honesty you could just use your hand weights/dumbells. Here is my blog on it and…
