  • Thanks all. Looks like the bit "freedom" I thought I'd have as I opened up my calorie intake a bit has caused more problems than it solved. Time to get back into being far more consistent about it
  • MY net calorie intake is in the 1800 range I'm 5' 8"' 192, 47 y/o Production Manager up and down all day I do have food scale, I measure and weigh everything I can I've been at deficit the entire time. I started out at 1200 calories, worked right until this plateau, since I have been stuck, so I've been trying the TDEE
  • But it's a good starting point for those that don't know. Look around, many people don't have a clue how many calories they are either eating or should be eating. Things like this give them a direction
  • and it was exercise that helped put me in mine. Once I started burning a bunch of calories, I wasn't eating enough to support my bodies basically daily needs.
  • Check out this thread, pay particular attention to the first posting and the links in it http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/931670-bmr-and-tdee-explained-for-those-needing-a-guide
  • The 2539 TDEE setting that I have in the app, takes into consideration my moderate activity level, I do get to the gym and do cardio 6 days a week. I do want to start some circuit work but have not as yet. SO I may need to increase that to the actual 5-6 hours a week from the 3-5 currently using I would be happy at a…
  • You're right, that is kind of an open ended question The sugar is "somewhat" of a concern, however a large chunk comes from fruit and a bit from yogurt, which has some sweetener, I know. It also has lactose and fruit, so the majority is coming from natural sources. I do try to avoid almost all other "added" sweeteners. The…
  • Bump
  • If you're really stuck on that 1200 calorie number, which BTW, is not good for many, then you should have a 1200 calorie NET Which means after your exercise, your net intake for the day should be a minimum 1200 That means if you burn 300 calories exercising, you should be eating 1500 to maintain the 1200 net I too, lived…
  • Breakfast @ 6:00am Morning Snack @ 9:00am Lunch @ 12:00pm Afternoon snack 2:30pm Dinner @ 5:30-6:00pm
  • My guess is that you're not eating enough. I just went through something similar. I started out at 1200 calories, lost 63 lbs then came to a cold hard stop even though I was doing the same things, except, I added exercise, walking on a threadmill. I actually put a few pounds back on.... I recalculated my calories based on…
  • 47 and logging pushing it everyday. Feel free to add me
  • This was a GREAT read!! Thank you for taking the time to spell it all out.
  • I portion everything at home. Pre-made meats for my lunches, I just take them out of the freezer. I h ave found that works best for me
  • Wow, thank you everyone, that link was especially informative :)
  • Very good, very good indeed
  • One of the biggest changes I made, I switched from the "classic" 3 meals a day to eating smaller portions 5 times a day. That certainly helped with the hunger feels as at times it seemed I was eating almost all the time. Try to get some protein in at least everytime
  • Here daily in one form or another, log everyday, try to help where and when I can Anyone can feel free to add me
  • You might in a small way for a short period, that's where I'm at right now. I expect that this will turn around. It's not fat I am adding, most likely it's muscle, with enough energy and protein, the body will begin to build properly.
  • Once you get below a net calorie intake of 1200, that is when you can very easily stall and plateau Generally, it is not healthy for anything long term below the 1200 calorie level. I am still learning as I go as well
  • For the OP. I started out it sounds, much like you Once I added exercise, I stalled because I was calorie starved. I have, just this past week figured out my BMR and TDEE and have raised my calorie input accordingly. My TDEE is 2539, I burn on avg 650 calories in the gym, my net caloric intake after factoring in my gym…
  • I started out on a 1200-1400 calorie a day diet. Recently added 6 days a week in the gym, have upped my calories accordingly to meet the new demands on my body.
  • Thanks for the replies
  • Between diet and walking, I have worked off of all of my medications. I now have a resting BP of 110/60 and a resting heart rate of 58-60 Walking on a threadmill
  • Welcome, lots of good people and good advice around. Feel free to add me
  • Yes, if you're not honest with yourself about this, then you're setting yourself up for failure if you ask me. Admitting you need to lose weight, especially when it's large amounts, being honest about not only your situation but what you're actually putting in your mouth is vitally important. You need to hold yourself…
  • This just happened to me as well I was at 1200-1400 a day for several months, lost 60 pounds with little exercise. Now that I have added 6 day/week exercise routine, I have HAD to up my calories. After calculating my BRR and TDEE, I now had a 2539 calorie limit subtract the avg 600 cardio calorie burn and I am left about…
  • I've gotten through the first 60 lbs in good shape, working though the next stage and the inevitable changes that are needed but will offer what I've leaned and always looking to hear new ideas as well
  • I stole this and posted it elsewhere :)
