  • Tahini, lemon, garlic, salt, and water to thin it.
  • Add cooked chicken chili powder, cumin, garlic powder and hot sauce and you have a southwest lunch bowl!
  • I gave up coffee for 7 days...and those are not 7 days I would like to repeat!! I crave the taste and don't function well without it. I only put about 1/2 Tbsp of full fat coconut milk to 16 oz. coffee and no sugar. It is 53 calories a day for 2 generous travel mugs. I am well willing to allot for that!
  • I eat Paleo but could not imagine Paleo Vegan! That would seriously throw me because all I could have then is protein shakes and produce, and protein shakes are not really Paleo if you look at it in a way that means eating unprocessed foods.
  • I got this too, I just deleted it
  • I take care of someone who has recurrent stones and has had high blood calcium. She does not drink her fluids properly and also eats way too much calcium in the form of dairy products, cereals and such. Her doctor also told us not to give her soda anymore as it exacerbates it. I guess like anything else there are diet…
  • Saturday night marks the end of my work week. I did awful all week! I will try again to do better next week!
  • Thanks! Glad I am not the only one! I will try that! We have a loop driveway I can walk at work!
  • I just can't imagine all that food!! I keep it simple here...a meat, a veg, a potato or squash, a bread for the few that eat it, and a desert. It's usually Christmas cookies at this point, but could change in the future. We may have a tray of cheese and meats, or shrimp cocktail for appetizers. I cook by feel and taste and…
  • I cook them in coconut oil plus whatever other things you like with them. Coconut oil helps it be more satisfying to me, and you will never have them sick to any pan!
  • I have to say McDonalds is the worst junkfood ever and the easiest to give up! I did used to have a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit issue, but gluten intolerance soon accounted for that! Seriously, I gave it up way before that because it was just nasty!
  • Having all those stairs does get monotonous but it is an opportunity as well! Think of how many people spend however long on a stairmaster that goes nowhere! At least you are going up and down! DO as many as you can and walk loops on each floor! Free walking track and stairmaster!
  • You know, the thing is I used to be great at planning and logging/making most of my meals ahead and now...I have been out of that routine for so long that it seems like eons ago! Maybe that is the fatal flaw here! Because I have done this successfully in the past. Thanks! I am still not sure about the smell thing...maybe I…
  • So, what if one is on vacation?? Because I can throw a few days in from now until Christmas, although I did very poorly the last week, and then I am off and will likely be a free for all the week after Christmas until January 5th! :) I have a very old friend coming from out of town and thee will be no promises made of any…
  • I don't have an ongoing issue with my husband, every now and again he complains about not having junk food, but oh well, he is overweight too and I refuse to buy it! I cook and I shop for both home and a large group home. I feed 15 -20 people at a sitting at work, and I have food issues plus diet to contend with. I admit,…
  • I have been GF for almost 6 years now. It was not by choice, I was blood tested for Celiac after being in horrific GI pain for a couple weeks, and my Mom had it so it is likely I do. The doctor said that my blood results were off the chart enough to concede I am a Celiac without the biopsy because I actually teared up when…
  • I used the GF all purpose flour mix in a regular sugar cookie recipe with success before. You just have to make sure the kind you buy is for substituting 1:1 for regular flour.
  • Try looking for Paleo recipes online and on Pinterest...All are gluten free, many are dairy free and many are egg free because they too are a common allergen.
  • I agree with Dragonwolf, that is not bad, and your ratio is decent. I never worry about high HDL, or a high total at all. If your ratio is decent, and it is, you are really a low risk by any standards. I worry when my HDL goes lower than way high! lol I used to have super high HDL, a great ratio, all in line even according…
  • Protein, fat...if your vegetables aren't cutting it, go for protein and fat. Celery and peanut butter, salami and cheese, vegges and guacamole, lunch meat roll ups, nuts, etc.
  • Scales never read the same as quality medical equipment. My BF according to my Tanita scale is 46.5%. The medical evaluation people at work say its 35%, I had a DEXA scan and it was 32%...ALL bad numbers but the point it, you decide what is really comfortable and enough for you as if you rely on this you will drive…
  • Have you seen the Bento Box thread at all? On the Recipes I believe! You would fit in!
  • If I get up in the morning, sit on the couch, o to work and do paperwork all day I get 3-4000. But if I am mindful and get up every chance I can and exercise outside of work, I get the 10,000.
  • If you want to exercise, change your shoes. Whatever you were wearing that you got this condition in is NOT working for you. If you are in super supportive shoes, try transitioning to minimalist. If you are in minimalist, try transitioning to a bit more support. If you are in middle of the road running shoes, get an…
  • I make kale chips and collard green chips...my favorite variety is Sirracha! I mix about a tbsp of each Sirracha and olive oil, tear off the leaves from the big stalks, coat in the mixture and bake at 300, flipping a few times until dry. I also like Sea Snax, of course cheese, I roll up lunch meat and just eat it,…
  • Congratulations!
  • I have to laugh as sometimes I am going to bed at these hours or later!! I did used to work days and get up at 4:15am, but that never worked for me I am a night owl by nature! Getting up earl for me is 10am!
  • There are a lot of things nobody tells you that affect the numbers until you have a problem. If you are dehydrated at all, if you drank a lot of coffee, if you are in any pain or didn't sleep well. If you are sick...my BP was 140/98 on medication because I was sick and miserable. It was 110/70 the next time 2 days later. I…
  • Supersize Me was the first that really shocked me to what I was eating and the subsequent experiments of the McDonalds foods versus real foods in the jars. I also loved Omnivore's Dilemma, It Starts With Food, And I can't even tell the books I have read on diet and nutrition over the years...it has been too many!
  • I agree, but also diabetes is not dependent on weight. Many diabetics are skinny, and even type 2. My FIL for example, is almost underweight yet Type 2 diabetic.
