  • I'm currently around 243 and a size 18. A few months ago at my heaviest I was about 270 and a size 20 (snug)....so almost 30 pounds gone and only dropped one size. I too carry a lot of weight in my mid section. I want to get to around a 10-12. Guess imma have to lose 100 pounds or so. I do feel a lot better so I'm happy…

  • I'm pretty new to running so u can take my advice with a grain of salt...but for now I wouldn't worry about the incline. Start at 0 and concern yourself more with endurance. Once you get that down then you can tinker with the other stuff (speed, incline,) etc.
  • Yesterday I ran a mile (+ a little extra) without stopping or holding on to the treadmill rails for the first time ever! And by run I mean jog...13 minute pace. But I was still really proud of myself. Just started running in March too...so im looking forward to the progress ill make by the end of the summer.
  • Same thing happens to me. I think its just your body adjusting to the added stress. I continued my same routine though and just yesterday I ran my first mile without stopping. 13 minute pace...which i know is crazy slow...but it was a huge accomplishment. I actually ran a mile and a half. The key is just to push through…
  • I pause in between my last 2 reps all the time. I lift heavy so there's no way I could finish with the same rhythm as when I start reps 1-7 or 8 (i do 10 reps usually). In between sets...I usually rest for about a minute or 2. Depends on the muscle I'm working on. With legs I need more time than I do arms for example.
  • Funny cause one of my goals is to make it across the monkey bars by the end of the summer. So kudos to you. Great accomplishment.
  • I totally agree with the OP. I can not lose weight on diet alone. Exercise, for me, is 70% more important. I can lose more weight exercising and eating junk than I could not exercising and eating fruits and veggies. There is also something about my rest days where I tend to want to eat more. I was literally thinking about…
  • I don't record gains. I just find from a mental standpoint its better for me not to. I weigh myself every few days and record officially on Sundays. Sometimes ill go a few Sundays without recording if I've gained. But eventually I do get back on track.
  • "I'm the most interesting man in the world"
  • I continue to surprise myself with this program. I did W5D2 today and did it all....on the first try! I was so happy I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear during my cool down. I didn't think I'd be able to do it...and fairly easily at that. Though I was definitely counting down the last two minutes on that second…
  • Ditto. I've lost a little over 20 pounds and not one word from anybody. Like the OP, I too have made it a point not to tell anyone I'm working out and trying to eat better for the exact same reasons. I want the compliments to be genuine and deserved. Funny thing is I havent seen much difference either. I figure once I lose…
  • Start now. I've been doing c25k for like 3 months (ive had to repeat some days) and I just dropped below 250. Started the program in the 260s. The key is to go slow and listen to your body. I'm lucky I havemt had much knee trouble. In fact I think my knees are getting better...but that's because I listen and take breaks…
  • I did try dropping the speed once but it didn't really help. I think I just wasn't pushing myself hard enough. I think once I get going with strength and my breathing I should be fine. Every once in a while I feel like I can't breathe in enough oxygen....like my lungs cant expand. Those are the days I struggle.
  • Finally got through W5D1. Took me like 6 tries. I'm so nervous for D2. Two 8 minutes runs? Yikes. Might take me another 2 weeks to get through it comfortably.
  • I'm around 250. SW 272. Whatever weight machine I'm on I lift enough to where the last 2 reps are hard to do. I haven't been as diligent in my weight lifting as I should. I'm still in my cardio cardio and more cardio mindset. I do cardio every day and weights maybe twice a week. The pounds are dropping but I'm not seeing…
  • YES! A thousand times YES! I despise when people use the cardio machines next to me and there are plenty empty ones. Happened to me just yesterday. I purposesly went to the end of the row of treadmills just to avoid people...and before I could even finish my warm up they guy jumps on the treadmill right next to me. Mind…
  • This. I was never a huge junk food person. I would probably eat junk food once a week (usually wendys-- bacon cheeseburger with fries). In the last 5 years I can count how many times I've drank soda....not a fan. But my biggest issue is/was portion control. Even though I ate decent in terms of healthy foods I would just go…
  • Planet fitness..I like that its super cheap..$10/month. And I like that its big so nobody bothers me trying to chat and make friends like at smaller gyms. I just want to get in...do what I have to do and get out. Not talk about whatever crap going on. I also love the row of tvs and how I can plug my headphones into any…
  • Repeated W5D1 yesterday. I did a lot better than the first time. Finished the 1st two intervals fine but the last one still got me. Running 5 minutes straight 3 times is hard but I'm determined to do it. Probably have to do this day a few more times before I feel comfortable moving on.
  • W5D1 kicked my *kitten* yesterday. Not sure if I was just tired and didn't get enough fuel in before hand....but I really struggled. I already know ill be on this one for at least a week or two. Do people do other workouts in combo with c2k? On my off days I do an hour on the elliptical and weight training. I wasn't able…
  • Thanks bryionak! I feel soo good today. Got through W4D2 with flying colors. Even managed to squeeze an extra 3 minute run at the end. And still didn't feel like passing outafterwards. What a difference a day makes. Hoping Friday is the same so I can move on with some confidence.
  • I'm doing Week 4 Day 2 tomorrow. This is actually my second week on week 4. The first time I just couldnt get through the second set of intervals...so I decided to do my own thing for a week. I thought jumping from 3 minute running to 5 might have been too much so I did 4 minutes running 2 minutes walking and its helped a…
  • This would be the top of my list too. Also, take advantage of your carefree days. Stop being so self-conscious and just do better.
  • This happened to me too a few years ago. I was about 23-24. I don't have any kids and I felt so low when the lady asked me. She was soo rude about it though, like she thought I was lying when I said "no". Sigh.
  • Lol! I double bag as well. Seems to have worked for me. I hope one day I won't have to.
  • Planet Fitness. Can't beat $10/month. There's a million cardio machines and weight machines all over the place.Hate that it gets crowded...but the people at my gym did give me a chart when I signed up detailing the traffic they get per hour everyday so I was forewarned.
  • Few days late sorry. SW: 272 CW: 253 GW for April: 245 UGW: 180 4/5: 253.7 4/12: 4/19: 4/26: 4/30: I've been busting my butt in the gym. Doing the c25k program and some other cardio (bike, elliptical) with some weight training sprinkled in. Have to work on my eating. I'm good with calories, though I probably wasn't eating…
  • I started the C25K program today. So about 20 minutes of that. And then I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. Walked home afterward (~ 1 mile walk).
