Being able to play actively with your kids is no minor victory. It is also one of my major motivations as I'm an older dad and intend to do my best to keep up with my kids' shenanigans!

this is a goal of mine. I really need to work on my upper body strength to do it. My eldest when she was almost five had issues with her grip strength. one of the things they did at school is got her on the monkey bars. Just hanging and then trying to swing. She is almost 7 and still not great compared to some kids at climbing, but she can feed herself without whining, and her writing is awesome. Look at what play does for our kids and think about it. We as adults don't play enough .

This is one of my favorite things about MFP, being able to share in everyone's achievements. Way to go! And thank you for sharing!

Funny cause one of my goals is to make it across the monkey bars by the end of the summer. So kudos to you. Great accomplishment.

I think that it is cool that you take your kids to the park. I take a walk through my neighborhood park with my dog and I can't tell you how many times I have seen groups of kids there with no adult around. If they are over 10 fine, not a real problem. But, some of them to me seem clearly under 10 and that isn't cool. Then you actually got on the equipment and actively played with them, that is so incredibly awesome.

I see a lot of that around me too. I don't understand letting a small child out alone. We live in a very safe neighbor hood and I don't let them (my kids are 5,4 and 2) out alone...not because I am afraid that they wil get snatched or that someone will hurt them, but because I am afraid that they will get hurt just being kids. Its easy to fall on the playground and break something or get banged up!

I do let them outside in our fenced in backyard alone, but I can either see or hear them (they are LOUD!) At all times so I know if smeone gets hurt.

I try to make playground time a workout for me and fun for them. I do box jumps onto the lower platforms, attempt dips and pull ups on the bar, and chase them around like crazy. Its just an added bonus that they are so wiped out by the time we are done they *usually* play quietly for a bit when we get home. Plus I get some extra exercise in.

    Monkey bars are tough!!

I'm an older mom but I've been the most fit and active since my youngest was born 9 years ago (when I was 37).
I love getting out and about with her.
I was such a slug with my older two (now 17 & 21) and regret not being more active with them.

    Congratulations :flowerforyou:
