  • I like being outdoors. For me it's cycling, hiking, and maybe a bit of running. Other days I go to the gym.
  • It's kind of nuts. I started wearing a heart rate monitor last practice. Two hours of endurance showed 1175 calories burned. That left me with a daily net of -300 something. Yikes! So yes, I'm going to be eating a bit more on practice days.
  • Hey all. I just found the groups here on MFP and thought I'd search out derby for the heck of it. I'm Nopac Shakur. I am mainly affiliated with the Dixie Derby Girls in North Alabama, but I worked with Duke City Derby out in New Mexico for a short time. I've been a referee for about three years now and have guest reffed…
  • I'd say go with what these people said. Cook your own and freeze foremost. Then, there's a few options depending on how many calories you can allow yourself. I like the Amy's organic ones, Lean cuisine, and Ethnic Gourmet. All of these fall within the 400 and under calorie range. If I think I need more, I'll make a salad…
  • Captain and diet Gin and Tonic Light beer that isn't terrible
  • Get cycling shorts. Get lycra ones. Trust me, we don't wear them for fashion. They wick sweat and dry it, have flat seems to prevent chafing, and have a chamois so all that friction from miles of riding saves your ASSets. I ride a saddle made completely out of leather, which people unfamiliar would think is insane. When…
  • I am a cyclist. Cycling uses different muscles than running and even the elliptical. I don't know if you do any road rides, but most riders don't just jump on a bike and do a 30 mile ride. Most can't just jump on a bike and climb a big hill like it's nothing. You have to build up to it. The same is true for running. I…
  • This is an amazing idea.
  • Here's one I came up with. One egg and spinich cooked into a small omelet. Put that on a toasted low calorie english muffin with a few slices of canadian bacon. 2 oz of Boar's Head Canadian bacon is about 70 calories, and that's a good bit of it. You can easily use half that. Overall it works out to about 250 calories.
  • It's still calories in, calories out. What a low carb diet does is cut out a source of calorie dense foods. Keto, Atkins, and other low carb diets still work by reducing the number of calories you take in, but they do so in a way that still works to satisfy your appetite. If you eat a couple of slabs of bacon a day, you're…
  • Just to expand on that. Can one not eat enough and trigger some sort of bodily response like a starvation response? What does this do?
