I have been told that if you crave sweets then eat a piece of fruit. I am not really a sweet person so I can't tell you if it works or not.

You are not the only one. I tend to crave carbs, especially bread. I am not doing a low carb diet but bread is one of my favorite things. 5 lbs in 10 days is a great start, don't stress if it slows down, just keep with it and you will get there.

Lora- You are right, they are excuses. I am just trying to figure out how to overcome them. Simple to say just do it, harder to put into practice.

Grilled chicken and rice pilaff is always a safe option in my opinion. You can almost always get a salad as an appetizer, just get the dressing on the side and avoid putting high in fat on it (cheese, croutons, eggs, etc). That is how I keep my calories down at restaurants. Yeah, and skip desert.

Try taking measurements instead of watching the scale. You might also try lowering your calories by 100 and see if that helps. Keep it up, you are making progress.

HRM= Heart Rate Monitor. Is 1200 after you factor out your workouts? If not, you need to make sure you are eating enough calories, much lower than 1200 will cause your body to think it is starving and that causes you to keep fat on.
