It probably took a long time for you to be the current weight that you are now. So don't expect that it will magically disappear. Some weeks, you may not lose any weight at all. But as long as you are making changes that will make you a healthier person, that is what counts. A good start besides exercising might be…

Your mom sounds like she may have had a vision of the "perfect" holiday vacation to spend with you. Then once you arrived at your destination, things are not going according to her idea of what "perfect" might be. Thus, she is cranky and complains of missing home and her normal routine. It also sounds like she is used to…

Try not to make too many changes at once, or it may overwhelm you. Some changes you can make: Avoid fast food/junk food and eating out at restaurants if possible. Cook your own meals. Try to increase water intake. Best of luck to you.

What if you took a journal/notebook with you to log your exercise and calories manually? Also, maybe the cruise ship allows passengers access to an office type room with computers?

Having support at home will really help you. Do you do the food shopping and cooking? If so, go through your pantry/refrigerator/freezer and throw away all the candy, cake, chips, cookies, etc. Do not buy them or bring them into your home. Fuel your body with fruits and vegetables and lean meat. Watch your sodium intake.…

In response to your question about why I am giving up sugar or trying to reduce intake of it, I have had a recent cancer diagnosis and the nutritionist that I consulted recommended lots of dietary modifications, including limiting red meat, sodium, sugar, dairy and eating more vegetables and fruit. Trying to give up so…

Thank you for starting this group. I am 5'2" and hoping to get down to the 125-130 range and be healthier. I have had lots of ups and downs the past two years, including death of my mother and other family members and cancer diagnosis in July 2013. Finished radiation about 3 months ago and looking to change my lifestyle…

I agree with the person who said that maybe you should change doctors. Medical technology has come so far. For your doctor to make a statement…
