Are you sure your heart rate is at 180 for most of that 75 minutes? I'm only about ten or so lbs over where I'd like to be, and my heart rate runs between 120 and 150 during my 35 minute workouts, and I'm burning around 400. Each of my days is a little different, but that about my average cal burn. If I had the stamina to…

I'm subscribed to this Youtube channel. I'm not doing any yoga at the moment though. They have a lot of beginner stuff. https://www.youtube.com/user/yogayak I do however stretch every evening as a part of keeping my back, neck, and shoulder, loose and healthy (I've got a variety of problems and have had three back…

i'm noticing it takes more effort to burn the same amount of calories. If you body is conditioning and you were able to do that second run without your heart rate being as high as the first time, that would account for the difference.

i don't bother with little crap like that. If I go chop firewood for an hour, I'll count that.
-
i'd trust the HRM before the MFP database. the MFP database doesn't know exactly how much effort you put into the routine

There are no specific exercises that will target certain areas for fat reduction. The only way to reduce body fat is to eat at a calorie deficit. Its not very fair, but where that body fat is lost is really based on your genetics; it is different for everyone. Any exercise you choose will burn calories, which will help you…

as long as you are eating healthy, you don't need to be taking any special supplements. I take a basic multi vitamin, and I think you will find a lot of folks here do the same. As far as protein powder goes, that really depends on you. If you are having trouble hitting your protein goal each day, it might be a good idea to…

I think there are a lot of ways to get "there", and you will get every opinion here. Personally, I truly believe the best exercise is the one you will do, and do regularly. at the end of the day, its about caloric intake. It doesn't matter what exercise you do, you will burn calories. Some exercises will burn more calories…

depends on your goals. You say "problem area". Does that mean they are just soft and out of shape, or are they big and flabby and need to be reduced? If you need to reduce your body fat, you can only do that through a calorie deficit eating regiment. Any exercise will burn calories and help you with the deficit. If you are…

OMG, I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I did dead lifts and lunges, AND calf lifts, on Saturday. I think I pushed a little too far too soon, and there are parts on my lower backside that are still sore. Sunday was actually not bad, but Monday was excruciating. Actually took a couple days off it was so bad. Gonna get back…

I'm still hurting from Saturday

The standard answer people drop into these threads is getting a little old. "you can't spot target fat", and "you will only lose fat having a caloric deficit". While those statements are true, maybe those that feel the need to sound like a broken record should consider that the OP might be interested in actually gaining…

even after reading all the replies, it is still a valid question.

it that is what it says, trust it. Even it you don't lose 10lbs on the scale, you body will look a lot better.

Since I have my baseline set at "sedentary" I include all activities.... like chopping firewood, etc.

make sure you follow the suggestions of the program when it comes to cals. What you noted sounds OK for a woman, but just make sure it is in line with what the guide says. I know for a fact it says not to eat at a deficit during the program. As far as weight loss, I actually lost most of mine before I started. I noticed…

hopefully all the people that post here about how they feel insecure when they go to the gym, don't read this thread

I don't get the point. Why bother?

great start, looking good!! Keep it up!

1368 / 8 = 171. So, two slices = 342. Add in a side salad with oil/vinegar and you've got yourself a decent meal and it is something generally on the dieters "sin" list. Guess my point is you don't have to eat the whole pizza ya know?
-
shouldn't it be more about what you think and feel?
-
you will get a lot of mixed responses here too. For me, it all comes down to portions. If you belly up to the table and eat a huge pile of pasta along with three or more hunks of garlic bread, you probably aren't doing yourself any favors. From everything I've observed here recently and going backwards ten years to when…

hydrate better and/or get more potassium (eat a banana 30 to 60 minutes before working out) best I can offer

When it comes to calorie burn, doesn't it just come down to your heart rate? Based on your age, there is a particular target heart rate you want to achieve. Of course the type of exercise you do will help different things. Obviously there are those that are convinced weight lifting is all anyone should ever do, and there…

wow, what a cutie. who is that gal on the left?
-
wow, the door is really wide open on this one... must refrain from witty sexist remark.... oy so, yeah, start out on knees. Once you can do a reasonable amount of those without killing yourself, keep trying to do one full, then finish on knees. Then try to do two, then finish on knees. etc. Get the picture?

never seen her before today. I don't know her from Adam.... just another good lookin' chick that has put a lot of work into it, as far as I'm concerned.
-
Like someone else said, you wouldn't get her arms, or any other body part, by accident. if you do the whole deficit thing, as noted ten times already, and do some basic lifting, you will look good.... and probably won't get arms you don't want. For the record, as a guy, speaking for many of the guys here (and I base that…
