  • Being in a relationship doesn't change that you have to keep focusing on yourself, this should stay a priority no matter what! Relationships may come and go, but if you arent working independently to be healthy person inside and out, what can you even bring to a relationship anyway? OP, I am happy to hear you are back on…
  • Thanks for the comments everyone, it seems like it would be great to add some weight training to balance out the cardio and get some benefits that neither running or dieting will bring. I have been looking at some beginner 5x5 routines; are these appropriate to use while on a 1,000 calorie deficit?
  • Oh, couple other things: I am 255lbs and I think I should weigh about 180. I have three longer term goals - great health, some muscle definition, and generally great fitness. I plugged my stats into MyFitnessPal and asked for a 2lb per week weight loss, and it gave me a goal of 2,070 calories per day. The first few days…
  • cdn_beaver, congrats on your loss and thanks for your comments. Overall I feel better without the sugar intake as well, but there is a certain instant gratification sugar and carbohydrates provide that is really desirable. It's not unlike an addiction - feels great in the moment and a lot less great later on. I also notice…
  • My experience is similar to others. For people who see me every day, around 15-20 lbs is when they began to notice. Some keen people who I don't see that often noticed at around 10lbs.
  • Wow, very inspirational post! Good work!!!!!!!!!
  • I do it almost every day, but always in the morning before eating and after using the bathroom. Sometimes the number goes up, sometimes it goes down. But I only update on the days where I'm down!
  • I can relate to your story. Although it's not my career, one of my passions is general aviation. The FAA medical exam has stringent requirements and on the last one my blood pressure was borderline too high. Even getting on meds wouldn't be an answer with the FAA - they just ground you until everything's normal for a year…
  • Also - anytime you need encouragement just browse Success Stories for a few minutes. I try to get daily doses to keep me on track!

  • Huge progress! Don't forget - not all of your lbs are fat. At times you'll be losing fat but gaining muscle mass which is smaller but hefty. Are you doing regular tape measurements of your chest, waist, and hips? I'll bet you see continued changes there despite what the scale says. Keep at it, I'm inspired by your progress!
  • Phenomenal! You've more than halved yourself. I bet it didn't seem possible when you began, but here you are - huge life accomplishment (literally) under your belt. Love your story!
  • The difference is amazing! Keep at it!!!
  • The difference in your face alone is huge and your stats impressive. 27kg in a year is a solid 1/2kg a week. It sounds like it's time to shift over to lifting and lean muscle mass buildup. Keep at it!
  • Wow, the transformation you've gone through is impressive. You must feel great looking back and seeing how far you've come. Keep up the good work, you're a beautiful lady!
  • Phenomenal!!! I love stories like yours, so much inspiration. I swear, anytime I start to feel demotivated or start missing carbs, I peruse Success Stories for a few minutes and I'm back on track. Good work and keep at it!
  • Huge inspiration!!!!! Thanks for sharing.
  • Lots of great advice in here! Some more ideas: For many people food is an escape - something to help them deal with life, self image, stress, and anxiety. A carb/sugar rush feels amazing, but as we know it goes straight to fat and the crash leaves us craving more. So FIND SOMETHING HEALTHY TO REPLACE THIS CRUTCH WITH,…
