  • I highly doubt these numbers are accurate. I am 5 feet and 125 lbs, am fairly sedentary and I burn roughly 1700 cals on an average day (no exercise). You may want to put your numbers into a calculator like http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ for a more accurate reading. 1200 cals is too low for someone my size,…
  • THIS! BSN chocolate peanut butter is delicious. No fake sugar taste and really creamy (esp when mixed with low cal almond milk). If you are looking for low carb - Iso Sensation 93 Cafe Brazil is ok, and good when you add a shot of real coffee in!
  • Thanks, this is the kind of response I was hoping for!
  • I think you misread or misunderstood my opening statement. A) I do not believe sugar is going to kill you. The title was meant in jest as it is the title of the article quoted and B) I was saying that I understand your body cannot differentiate between sources of sugar. It will process sugar from a soda the same way it…
  • That's very true although I was more interested in the discussion on how your body metabolizes fructose and glucose and how the the leptin and grehlin responses differ. I was hoping someone with a greater knowledge on the subject than I could weigh in on that.
  • Sorry, seems the end of the URL keeps getting cut off! http://www.salon.com/2014/02/25/sugar_is_killing_us_and_it_doesnt_take_much _to_destroy_your_body_partner/
  • Thank you!! People act like because it's from Salon it's automatically worthless.
  • I'm not saying I'm buying into what they are selling but if you read the actual article on Salon (also not originally from Salon but re-posted there) they do cite a number of studies from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, American Society for Clinical Nutrition, University of Queensland, University of California…
  • Yep, that part was the best.
  • I got my Fitbit Flex a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE it!!! It helps give me a clearer picture of my calories in vs calories out on a day by day basis and motivates me to get off my butt a bit more. It's great to look at the app and see all your daily goals are completed. Also, as far as steps are concerned it's extremely…
  • It could actually be very true. When I started here I was 115 lbs (5"0) but I was 31% body fat. I had very little lean mass on me and was the definition of 'skinny fat'. Strength training helps immensely as long as you can let go of scale weight goals. I have gained 15 lbs (almost all muscle) through lifting this last year…
  • Hi Steph To be honest, a goal of -2.5lbs per week is unrealistic and unhealthy, especially for someone without a ton of weight to lose. To lose up to a lb a week you should probably be eating around 1500 calories a day. There are tons of online calculators you can use to help you determine how much you should be eating…
  • Peanut M&Ms... the bag at the movies (375grams) is 1920 calories!!! My mistake for not logging until AFTER I finished the whole bag! Oops.
  • Sugar free jelly (jello) is a great snack when you don't want to use up your calories. I can eat the whole bowl and it's only about 40 calories, plus the volume fills you up!
  • This happens to me all the time. I eat a fairly balanced diet with tons of protein yet if I don't eat every 3-4 hours I get dizzy, nauseous, shaky etc. I believe in my case it's related to low blood pressure (not blood sugar.. I'm not hypoglycemic) but that hasn't been proven by a Dr. I just accept it as something that…
  • I work out at any Anytime in Australia and I love it. Most people who go there are serious about their workouts and don't pay much attention to anyone else. There is a trainer there during certain hours but he mainly stays in the office unless he's needed on the floor. The only complaint is my gym is quite small and…
  • HAHA I see this all the time in my gym ( I actually think one of the trainers tells people to do this). It's so silly.
  • Thanks for sharing, I hadn't thought to look at it that way.. I figured I couldn't be THAT far off! Turns out a few cheat days means I'm 7500 over for the month (1400 over TDEE) ! No wonder I gained weight!! GEEZ!! I'll def be using this going forward.
  • I would go for other DVDs, esp if you like Jillian. The teeny tiny dumbbells are pointless and Tracey spends the whole dvd looking at herself and making pouty faces! Insipid an narcissistic.
  • And thanks for this info. I didn't mean I need to burn a full 1000 calories in one session (that would take hours!!!) but I would like to get the most bang for my buck while at the gym.
  • Thanks guys for the input but I kinda feel like some of you missed the point of my question. I eat fairly well, lift heavy weights and do cardio on occasion. I'm not looking to get a negative calorie total for the day. I'm looking for workouts that will burn a LOT of calories. For example I am going out saturday night and…
  • Thanks! This is awesome! The only problem I have is the TDEE data... where do you put that in? On the graphs page you say to use the "Config" tab but there isn't one in the sheet. Edit - Works in the updated version you posted!! Thanks
  • I just got the 5K runner ad last night. It's free and I like the prompts it gives you so you know when to start/stop running. You can also play your own music through it on your iphone etc.
  • I didn't say I'm not burning calories, I generally burn about 200 calories per half hour in my workouts. My point was the smaller you are the fewer calories you burn for a particular exercise as your body isn't working as hard to move your weight around. A 100 lb person will burn far fewer calories in a workout than a 250…
  • My body reacts really negatively to too many carbs. I get really puffy and bloated. Doc has said I'm possibly a little insulin resistant so I just limit carbs as best I can while still eating what I want.
  • Hey guys, Thanks for all your advice! Will keep it up and maybe get a strength coach later this year to help with form etc.
  • For a while I did the Jamie Eason Live Fit trainer - can be seen here - http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-easons-livefit-introduction.html Now I am doing the Jim Stoppani Shortcut To Size - http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/shortcut-to-size.html Basically it's splits - legs, back and bi's, chest and tri's, shoulders with…
