  • I absolutely did it for myself. I never gave any thought to how other people regarded me...I assumed they thought I was awesome (true story). But I had lost myself in 50lbs of excess baggage. I wasn't who I used to be anymore...I lost the weight to get back to where the original version of me before life, a bad…
  • My son is on the spectrum, diagnosed before they eliminated Aspergers as a diagnosis...when I told him they no longer recognise Aspergers he asked if that meant he no longer has it. He went through extensive testing and I can tell you I am 100% comfortable that the diagnosis was not given lightly. I am in Canada, Ontario…
  • the only thing required for weight loss is a calorie defecit
  • I think you need to give yourself some love. Our body shapes are what they are. I don't think you would be happier any lighter and I actually think an extra 5 lbs might make a positive difference. I decided to hold on to my 5lb beer weight from summer because I look healthier (mind you I'm 53 so...core cracks to fill in).…
  • Pedantic indeed. Not disheartened at all....I believe in the heart of what I wrote and wish I could delete the reference to the scale as that isn't the point....live and learn :)
  • Thanks....I love it too!
  • I think I should stick to yelling at my computer - I'm not savvy enough in internet communications to speak to the masses....I didn't intend on making a blanket statement but I can certainly see how that might be the interpretation. oh well...it wasn't all that long ago that I didn't even know what a forum was!
  • I agree that the scale is a required tool in the process. I was hoping to stress the importance of focusing on the act of eating first and then measuring your success later....obviously there is no need to forgo weighing for any amount of time in order to be successful.
  • Weight has nothing to do with age....you need to eat less
  • Just an example of how you can take the elements of your favourite foods and re-create them and maybe even make them better. There are no rules!!
  • I make a nacho salad with romaine, tomatoes, black olives, red onion, spicy chicken, grated old cheddar, tortilla chips and salsa for dressing....I just weigh all the ingredients and adjust if I want more cheese, more chips or chicken as those are the most calorie dense. it is awesome. I usually make it come in around 500…
  • ...I will add this...perhaps as an incentive... Once I lost the weight and became more active, I actually was able to eat MORE and maintain my weight. So...Eat less...move more...lose weight...meet goal....eat more...(keep moving)..... Win...winnnnn.... and I am 53 so all that menopausal shite taken into account too.....
  • I know, I know. I don't have any peer reviewed links to substantiate my opinions. I have maintained a 40 + lb weight loss for almost 10 years so that is my review of my hypothesis....it can't be said enough. Eat less. Move more. Breathe. Have patience.
  • Actually the question was 'how do you weigh a banana"
  • Just realise the weight portion of the program is really just cardio...you aren't building muscle. It is also a recipe for injury as they don't (at least not where I went) correct form. I would cringe watching people flail around weights just to be quicker to get to the next station/exercise. In the end, too expensive for…
  • Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe ...let them take French....if you're Canadian it makes more sense...
  • Treadmills are basically only about 4 components that you put together - you aren't building the motor from scratch. The bottom portion is super heavy (mine is like 250lbs) and awkward so you definitely need help getting it where you want it....I always negotiate any delivery fees. I agree with the minimum motor size and…
  • I'm 52 and I think I look pretty good...I have all kinds of flaws and have been all kinds of sizes, up and down, but I am healthy, work out, am active and energetic. Perfection doesn't exist....most women have cellulite, rolls, droopy bits, crinkly stuff...love yourself...truly....and this is coming from a no nonsense, non…
  • mani/pedi...but I don't like people touching my face so I am biased...
  • Buy a food scale Figure out how much you eat now and pare it down to fit your calorie deficit Don't make it a big ordeal, it isn't, it's about being aware of what you put into your body and how your body uses that fuel to operate Read all the stickies = weight loss
  • 50 lbs, 9 years now. I didn't use MFP to lose (and now realise I ate a ridiculously low amount of calories) lost it all in 3 months. That being said, I have maintained the weight loss by educating myself on how it really works (CICO) and working out. I allow myself a 5lb fluctuation and I have a pair of jeans that get…
  • MusclePharm Combat Crunch bars are awesome!

  • Learn how to eat real foods to get to the weight you want and stay there. That is the only way you will be successful in the long run. Learn about the macros, protein, fat and carbs. Get a food scale and learn about appropriate portions and their calorie content. Learn to make choices that both fuel you and make you feel…
  • Roast chicken breast on rye toast with guacamole...if I was a dog my tail would be hammering the floor right now.
  • I think the fact that you recognise the reasons you might overeat - mindless eating, not wasting food....is the beginning of making better choices. I am the queen of ziplocks....just about any kind of food can be saved in a baggies or plastic container...nothing needs to be eaten all at once. Food is in endless…
  • the difference is due to the age entered or not....
  • I do 16/8 and don't eat till noon each day, I eat all the foods and have maintained my weight loss for 8+ years. I am 5'6" and 138 lbs....I consider myself healthy and, as important, happy
  • I asked myself the same question about 8 years ago - am I fat because I am unhappy or unhappy because I am fat. The only way to know it to lose the weight. You CAN lose it but it takes effort. Weigh and track your food on MFP and get on with it. The end result will not necessarily cure your depression but I guarantee you…
