Insomnia brought me to this thread... My name is Brittney. I'm a Floridian and I'm 27. Being active and working out is something I've come to enjoy. I've lost over 50lbs and I still have more to lose. Enjoying the changes thus far.

Thanks EVERYONE for the kind words :)

Thanks!

Thank you! I sure will. Quitting is not an option. And I actually like going to my workouts now.

Thanks! I appreciate it.

Thanks! Congrats on your progress as well! It definitely helps to log on and track what you're eating. No magic pill and no fad diets. Continued success to you :-)

Thanks! My goal is to reach 100lbs this year. Then I'll keep going from there.
-
Thanks! That makes sense. I saw where it said you don't eat the calories back for the TDEE. I'll probably switch to putting it in manually.
-
It's a website. It has different calculators that allow you to enter your info. BMR, TDEE, BMI, etc. My goal in MFP is the max 2lbs a week. Thanks.

From what I understand the article was still saying saturated fats are bad. Here is a bit of it. Cutting back on saturated fat can be good for health if people replace saturated fat with good fats, especially, polyunsaturated fats. (16,25) Eating good fats in place of saturated fat lowers the “bad” LDL cholesterol, and it…

You're right. Guidelines vary. One of the commenters posted a good article link. Here is some of what it says about the guidelines The latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends getting less than 10 percent of calories each day from saturated fat. (27) The American Heart Association goes even further, recommending…

Chemistry was one of my least my favorite subjects lol. Thanks for breaking it down!

Thanks for posting. It's a good read! I'm putting a bit of it here that sums it up well. What really matters is the type of fat and the total calories in the diet. (7-15) •Bad fats, meaning trans and saturated fats, increase the risk for certain diseases. •Good fats, meaning monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, do…

Irony for sure. Maybe they aren't aware of your 120+ miles per month. That's awesome by the way! Rude of them to say. They made a silly judgement and were clearly wrong.

Thanks for the reply! Your response is helpful. I read similar info as I looked further into it.

Wow! Awesome success. You look great. Thanks for sharing your journey.

It seems fine for now. Heavier people can lose more than the recommended 1-2lbs per week, at least when first starting out. And drinking the water definitely helps out. It’s working for you and you aren’t seeing any negative effects, so I’d say keep doing what you’re doing. But if you wanted to be sure you could always…

Congrats on the 4lbs! I'll add you. I'm 5'7 and 291. Started at 306. You're right, we can do this! Just have to stay motivated and don't quit. Anyone can add me as well :) I log on and I don't mind viewing diaries if they are open.

In my original question I was basically asking if I'm eating the right amount of calories to lose weight based on the info I submitted to MFP. Then I added in another question about whether or not they factor in daily exercising into that amount. I sort of crossed my topics up. I'm aware that I need to change the numbers…

I'm not blindly following... That's what questions are for and I'm rather new to this. I wasn't saying it's wrong to log exercise in, I just choose not to. The dietician suggested not logging my exercise because the results aren't accurate enough. I've seen people log 700+ calories just for a leisurely mile walk. And I've…

Thanks for the suggestions and info! I’ll go in and take a look at those numbers. I currently do some strength training when I work out: planks, various exercises with weights, mountain climbers, etc. I also do interval training. When I used this app awhile back, a Dietician recommended that I shouldn’t add the exercise…

Thank you. I'm seeing results when I stick to it. I just wanted be sure I'm doing everything possible to maximize my success. I don't factor the exercising I do into my daily calorie count and I don't have a HRM yet.
-
Thanks! I normally try to reset each month if the weight loss is significant.

Thanks for the response. I typically don't fit all my calories in when using the MFP goal. It just seems way too hard to eat 2020 calories now that I'm eating clean. When sticking to it, it works. I just wanted to be sure it was as accurate as possible. But thanks for the tips!
-
Thanks. I wasn't sure if MFP was accurate enough. But I did set it up to lose weight, not maintain.

I know a few people who use Fit Bit. I guess my main concern was really just wanting to make sure I'm not eating too many calories. My goal is 2lbs or more a week. But I know 1-2 is safe.
