  • Personal opinion is that we tend to OVER-estimate the number of calories we are burning (many time assumptions are made for normal size men versus women and small men like me). And we tend to UNDER-estimate the amount of calories we eat (by not measuring things but instead we inaccurately "guess" the amount we're eating or…
  • I read a recent study that went against a lot of what is preached on cardio but makes sense to me. Most consider cardio the best calorie burner -- and it does during the time of exercise. But this study said that if you only work out for about 1 hour then you you are not working out for the other 23 hours in a day.…
  • Another great P90X success story -- you should be so proud of yourself. It is hard work but so worth it!!! Now you just need to keep it off for at least one year to change your "set point" -- easy to do if you stay with your P90X program a little longer. Keep it up girl. You'll be glad for the change it brings in you - in…
  • EXACTLY! Any exercise program should start with a doctor visit first. And as I stated, if I can't maintain it for an extended time (50 minutes in most of my cases) then I slow down to where I can make it. The only time I exceed this is when I'm doing interval training or working out for a very short duration and I've…
  • http://www.thewalkingsite.com/thr.html TRAINING ZONES Healthy Heart Zone (Warm up) --- 50 - 60% of maximum heart rate: The easiest zone and probably the best zone for people just starting a fitness program. It can also be used as a warm up for more serious walkers. This zone has been shown to help decrease body fat, blood…
  • I'm a BIG fan of P90X. You can view my site to view the results I've gotten with P90X in the last 8 weeks. I start week 9 tomorrow. I bought the following chin-up bar which came with bands. http://www.amazon.com/Maximum-Fitness-Gear-Doorway-Exercises/dp/B002LN9XJI/ref=cm_cr-mr-title I really like the bar for how well it…
  • I'm the same age as you and live in OKC (actually Del City). I wasn't obese, but I was overweight weighing 163 pounds on 19 Nov 10 with a 34" waist. I've now lost 25 pounds since then to 138 pounds and i'm wearing 29" waist pants. I've done it through P90X, their diet without supplements, and using this site. I make sure…
  • You can do P90X if you remember to ......"Do your best...and forget the rest!" An example is that when I started doing the Abs Mason Twists, Tony and crew were doing 50. I started out doing only about 8, waited a few seconds, did a few more, waited a few more seconds, did a few more, and then thought I was going to die.…
  • I definitely agree with AnnaPixie that 500 sounds WAY too high. I weigh 139 pounds (now) and doing the stair master which is VERY tiring and gets my heart rate well into my cardo range I only burn a little over 600 calories per hour or a little over 300 in 30 minutes. The only way I can get more is by getting on the…
  • I'm OK with the diamond push ups and can do over 40 regular push ups. But I can't do even ONE one-hand push ups -- not even on my knees. He does these in the plus routines. Very disheartening that I can't do even one on my knees yet.
  • MY RESPONSE/SUGGESTION TO STUCK ON SAME WEIGHT.... - Eat at least 5 times a day to keep metabolism going all the time. - Do NOT eat until full, instead eat SLOWLY until NOT hungry (after all - you will eat in 2.5 hrs anyway!) - Keep track of EVERYTHING and keep to 1200-1300 calories (never less than 1200 calories per day)…
  • I've been using a measuring cup but that doesn't work well for weighted objects. Just bought a scale a couple days ago and started using it. Really helps to know EXACTLY what you are eating. I guessed some meat was about 6 oz , but after weighing it the meat turned out to be 4.25 oz.. Doesn't seem like much but almost 2 oz…
  • Quick update to provide post for my son's YouTube transformation with P90X. His workout buddy is my grandson. REALLY CUTE!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/umobius#p/a/u/0/Hnt3yeGhn1o
  • I'm in week 4 now. Although MyFitnessPal says I've lost 7 pounds I've truthfull lost 17 pounds since 19 Nov 10 as I didn't start MyFitnessPal until after I had been dieting already. I started SOME of the dieting on 19 Nov but I didn't really start the full P90X diet pyramid until 6 Dec 2010. I started after seeing the…
