I do my runs fasted (or maybe with a protein shake) because it helps me avoid stomach cramping, but I agree with others that it is not shown to help with weight loss.

I had to get rid of a few wrap dresses like this. It became indecent!

Agreed, taking a rest day is necessary for muscle recovery, and how many days you need are up to your fitness schedule and experience. My "off season" is three days of running per week, but my 8k training this winter and spring was 5 days with one day of cross-training and only one day of total rest. A good training…

I weigh daily, but it's not for everyone.

Hey Gaby, I'm also 36 and in Chicago!
-
Break into the 150s and stay there. Run a timed 5k race in less than 30 minutes (I almost did this last weekend).

Agreed with others on dehydration and potential potassium deficiency.

I need to remind myself to drink, too - my body doesn't get thirsty very often, and I feel better when I have more, especially as a runner. I got one of those infuser water bottles where you can put herbs, citrus, fruit, cucumber, etc. into the center chamber and it flavors the water a bit. Found a decent one on Amazon for…

I'm also a daily weigher, which I like in general but was really getting me down when it would fluctuate up. I took the advice of people in this thread (and others) to get a weight tracking app. I downloaded Libra and it is really reassuring. I felt like I made no progress this year, but I have lost 5 lb. since January.…

You can do it! I always use Hal Higdon's programs.

I sometimes get angry that the weight is so slow to come off, even though I feel hungry all the time. It is frustrating.
-
Yes, not just for the calories but also because I'm tracking fiber.
-
This sounds like a great way to do it. I was thinking of my experience using C25K, which was like 10 years ago before smartphones and apps existed. ;)

I might have to make an emergency trip to the bakery for a slice of Pi(e).

Great job! I need to get to Goodwill myself. None of my pants fit. I also find cute blazers there, which keep me warm at my office.

For the early days of C25K, it can be annoying to try to time yourself for the walk/run intervals. My advice is run on a treadmill or find a free indoor track where it's easier to gauge distance. At my local community center, 14 laps is a mile. I'd run 1 lap, walk 1; then run 2; walk 1, and so on. It makes counting easier,…

I tried running in 2010, but I was heavier then and had done no strength training. I tried to do a C25K and I couldn't complete my charity run without stopping to walk. In 2014, after I lost about 20 lb. and did some strength training (stronglifts 5x5), running was MUCH easier. Much much much. Completed my first 5k without…

Noted. I have sometimes sprinkled protein powder over ice cream and it's oddly satisfying.
-
This sounds really good and I'm going to try it immediately!

I'm in my last 10 lb. of loss, too, although I probably won't be weighing in weekly as there is already a weigh-in group on here (Fridays: community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/118368-weekly-weigh-in-group). But I need motivation, these last few pounds are harrrd!! SW: 200 CW: 160 GW: 150 5'10'', 35 years old

Last year I had two half marathons and an international distance triathlon and I thought I would lose weight, but if I run 3 miles, my body wants to eat like I ran 15. Tracking has been important; so far I am on track this year despite distance training. That said, if you are so hungry you're going to break into the forest…

I have an ice cream maker and also try to eat the good stuff in small quantities, when I can manage it. But sometimes when you really want a bowl of something, some Halo Top isn't bad. It is also not a bad source of protein. I have been trying to find Lemon Cake for ages, my supermarket never has it! (Mariano's, IL)

Here's a new one for you - has anyone ever fallen asleep on a machine, and you had to get a gym employee to wake them so that you could use it?
-
Awesome!! I also love the George Washinguns t-shirt, haha.
-
You are not alone. You did the right thing in getting on the forum - we are all in this. Great idea to join a gym. No one is looking at you or judging you; they are all doing their own thing. Feel free to add me!

There two kinds of people - people who can have one chip / chocolate / etc. and stop, and those who can't. Figure out which one you are and either abstain entirely or figure out a way to moderate. The calorie & exercise logs seem odious at first, but you get used to them and even rely on them to make good judgments.

I want to try those s'mores! I have the other kind in my region.
-
I've had similarly mixed experiences with Halo Top. I like peanut butter and chocolate. I had high hopes for s'mores but was sorely disappointed. The sherbet flavor is odd, but my husband likes it.
