The author of "Born to Run" is a big pusher of barefoot running, but almost everything he did was trail running (and that seems supported by the comments here). I would consider it for trail or cross-country, not for pavement, although I always see a handful of people in my races running barefoot on pavement, even in a…

Same with my MIL and FIL, except 70 lb.

Tortillas, nuts, dried fruit, craft beer, pasta

If you never eat it, you don't have to lose it. But if you eat it, your body processes it and then you have to lose it, which is more effort. I also like the car analogy by @elisa123gal

I was able to break into the 150s and stay there during February, so I am rewarding myself with some knitting patterns and yarn. (You didn't say the goal had to be exciting...haha.)

You can refresh it in a saute pan with some lime and chile powder, then eat it in a taco with some black beans or ground beef!

It is hard to remember the point where I stopped dreading workouts and started looking forward to them - you can definitely feel it if you haven't exercised in a few days. You will get there, but be sure to do exercise that you really enjoy, otherwise you will probably always hate it. (Although, I hated running at first…

I'm a member of a weekly weigh-in group that I have found to be helpful. It's a bit of accountability and helps you to see others' progress and struggles. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/118368-weekly-weigh-in-group

Dark chocolate, sugar-free gum, tea with lemon, dried fruit

The recipe I use is equal parts oats, milk, and Greek yogurt, then mix in whatever sweet or savory items you like. Jams, honey, dried fruit, nuts

Maybe an external goal, like a race? I signed up for an 8K race in March, so I have to get to the gym to train or I won't be ready. Go to the gym at your favorite time to make it easier; I like to go in the morning, and sometimes I'll pack my clothes the night before. Also, it's getting warmer every day!!

It sounds similar to what I went through with a tight IT band situation last year. Basically the tendon was pulling the kneecap slightly out of joint, which really hurt during running, going up stairs, walking, or sitting too long. I did leg lifts to strengthen the inside of my leg and make sure to stretch the heck out of…

Beginning Week 5 of Shamrock Shuffle 8k training (the Hal Higdon program). Today was a light pace 3-mile run followed by weight training and stretching.

Change creates strange behavior in people. When my mom visits, she tries to sabotage my weight loss efforts by bringing cookies and candy even when I've asked her not to. I think when people behave like this, they know that they need to make a change and don't want to. Some people get jealous / resentful of your changes.…

I felt awkward at the gym at first, but realize that almost no one is looking at you. Everyone's into their own thing.

Punjabi-style cabbage (cabbage curry with turmeric, peas, and potatoes), cooked with kielbasa, cooked into a stir-fry, shredded thin for tacos

I use Nike+ Running and like it. I also use Strava for bike rides.

Great idea. I need to do the same with some peanut M&Ms my mom left at my house over the weekend. She doesn't like me losing weight, so she brought a bag of peanut M&Ms, coconut gooey bars, and pumpkin spice cookies. Sabotage much?! Only the M&Ms tempted me. Peanut is my favorite variety.

I like the Lifeway brand kefir, usually strawberry but have also done strawberry banana, raspberry, and pomegranate. It takes some getting used to but it is really good for you.

Definitely come back slow and easy. Don't even time yourself, just pay attention to your body and run at a conversational pace.

It is all about the age of the egg, as others have said!

Last week: 163.8 This week: 159.4 Goal weight: 150-155 I was holding a lot of water weight last week, and this week I've managed to get (and stay!) under 160 for the first time in a couple of years. Motivation to keep logging.
-
Logging is working - it's giving you the information you need to reduce macro- or micronutrients you want to reduce, and get more of the ones you're not getting enough of. The same thing happened to me with logging and protein - I was not getting nearly enough. Maybe only have one of those ready-made sauces or meals once a…

I'm a knitter and crocheter. This is a blanket I made for my Russian buddy who requested a folk art firebird blanket for his second child.

100%. You are getting more than you think you are.

If you smeared some peanut butter on the top and then maybe dipped in in chocolate again, it would be worth the calories...haha.

Only after my long runs on weekends (7+ miles). But they are glorious.

@janejellyroll I've lived in the same region my whole life and have been eating these for 20 years. And they were labeled Tagalongs. I feel so betrayed! @Aplant77 The lack of temptation is the only silver lining. After I ate the one sad one, I put it out and my coworkers ate the rest.

If I can stay under 160 lb. until the end of February, I'm buying some YARN

Good luck, you guys! I hope you love the program! Don't worry about having a slow time - just have fun and worry about beating your personal record in your next race. ;)
