  • My mini goal is a trip to Hawaii in Aug - working to get paddle fit for 7 days of surfing. Dropped 4kg so far, 3kg to go along with some Bodyweight surfing exercises and cardio work for stamina!
  • Great job on the 3 weeks. There are so many great tools/groups/blogs/podcasts, etc out there to support your journey. We all have our point of "i've had enough" and "release" to be open to the changes we want to make. For me, it hasnt always been easy, but by focusing on today, it always seems achievable. Keep it up and be…
  • my goal is to be AF today. I've successfully achieved that goal for the last 444 days. I like being an achiever :)
  • I love cycling as part of my fitness routing. My other go to's are body weight circuits (push up, pull up, squat, plank, etc) as well as some rowing - and of course walking the dog. Fall is prime outdoor cycling time. If you do choose to go the cycling route and as we come into winter, you may want to check out adding a…
  • Why don't you hard boil some eggs the night before. Grab a couple of those and a piece of fruit and you have a good quick breakfast on the go.
  • it does - if you really do it! Lots of great support and info here

  • Congrats! Will be 14 years for me in April. For those just staring the journey, as posted before, whyquit.com was a great help to me as well.
  • This just out today and is a great article on squats with pics. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/03/03/strength-training-101-how-to-squat-properly/#more-21628
  • Also -checkout nerdfitness.com - they have a great view on Body Weight training. The Beginner Body Weight circuit was one I started with at home 4 months ago - also the Angry Birds routine is a good one. I've since modified and added different forms of the exercises to make them more difficult. But they are a great workout…
  • Like many who have responded here, I too drastically changed my drinking habits to kick start my weight loss and a bit of a life change. Over a number of years, I had gotten into a rut by enjoying a bit too much wine on a daily basis. A nice glass with dinner would invariably end up in an empty bottle before bed...mostly…
  • Not sure what the obvious are the the squats and lunges you are doing are some of the best. You can also add harder variations - jump squats and lunges, pistol squats, etc.
  • Good link for the nerdfitness advice. Also, the follwing is good http://www.alkavadlo.com/2010/09/16/learning-to-do-a-pull-up/
  • Married - 24 years, together 26 years!
  • Hi aafff5, Check out www.nerdfitness.com and the Beginner Bodyweight Plan. You can follow that as a circuit routine right at home and get both some cardio and strength training. I've traditionally done a lot of cycling, rowing - more cardio based work. But over the last 3 months, I've been doing bodyweight training…
  • I too love the rowing machine. I've been lucky to own a Concept 2 for the last 5 years or so. Currently, I'm primarily using it for warm ups - a quick 1500m, for my bodyweight training circuits I've been doing for the past few months (variations of squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, dips, jumping jacks, etc) When I do a…
  • When I turned 30 (15yrs ago), my femur split my tibia in a basketball rebounding episode. No meniscus on my left knee. Took a good year for recovery. Really got into cycling, swimming and surfing after the injury. Longest ride I've done in a day is 250km. Had to give up mountain biking after 3 fractured ribs 1 year and a…
  • I love pizza night. My family and I have really gotten into making our own. So cheap - and better than a lot of restaurants. If you google Jamie Oliver Pizza dough - you get a simple easy to make thin italian type dough. For tonight I used 200g of the dough (enough for dinner plate size thin crust). Added 50g of…
  • From what I can see on your diary of recent times, it looks like you are leaving quite a deficit and not necessarily eating your exercise calories. Also, in my opinion only, you look to be eating quite a bit of processed foods, sweets, etc. May need to focus on food choice as well. Keep up the work!
