There is nothing wrong with sticking to your 1 min run/ 1 min walk routine for a while. Just try to up your overall pace each week, or add distance. (I wouldn't do both on the same run). You will see your fitness increase, and then you can jump into a transition to straight running. You can pick up C25K now, or later. It's…

I suggest looking for a local Galloway training group in your area. You can train to run/walk a half marathon (or a marathon, but you may want to start at half marathon distance to avoid injury) with them, and they can put you with an appropriate training pace group. I started in a run 30 sec/walk 1 min group. I think you…

Congratulations! You are so right, running really is more mental than physical at times. My friend chants YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS when we run together and it gets tough. I love it!

If you're worried about the walking, consider this: I "ran" a half marathon yesterday in intervals of 30 seconds run, 30 seconds walk. I was passing people who were only running and I finished with a pace of 12:30/mile. Not too shabby for someone who technically walked half the race! In all seriousness, just get out there…

Big congrats!! Great feeling!

Thanks for the kind words! I have been floating on the post-race high for the past 24 hours!

Altra Torins. LOVE having toe freedom.

Anyone?

I had a crappy run in Monday. It happens. I'm fairly sure I didn't drink enough water over the weekend, and I think it really bit me in the butt.

Another vote for SPI belt. :-)

I am ultimately shooting for 150, but that might not be realistic. I've never been under 170 in my adult life, even when I was "thin" back in the day. I'm at 210 right now, started at 247. I am 5'10". I am focused on getting under 200 right now...I am so close, but still so far. I've lost almost 40 pounds and I haven't…

#1) I got into a pair of pants that I bought a couple of months ago because they were so stink in' cute, but they didn't fit at the time. Well, they fit now! #2) there are two hills that I run regularly that always kick my *kitten*. I have to walk part of them every time, but this week I ran BOTH hills from bottom to top…

I feel for you! I have been struggling with insomnia since our house burned down last March....thankfully we were all ok, but it has just been so overwhelming trying to put all the pieces back together. I fall asleep just fine, but wake up in the middle of the night and never go back to sleep....brain keeps racing. Regular…

Glad I could help. :-)

I have a GARMIN Forerunner 220, and mine doesn't count steps, but here's what I do: I wear my fitbit all the time. I use the step count for most activities instead of logging them as separate exercise. My Fitbit account is synced to MFP. I don't have my GARMIN account synced to anything...not even my phone. I upload my…

Look into the Jeff Galloway training program. It's a run/walk program. I ran my first half marathon at a run 30 seconds/walk 1 minute interval. I'm now training for my second half at a 1/1 interval, and I can run a 5k straight through. Great injury-free program, and I belong to a local Galloway training group. Best of luck

Good suggestion. I will take care of this over the weekend.

Good question...they said it would take about 2-2.5 hours.

I was very clear with the organizers of the ride when I inquired, and they all told me to come along. I am going to try to go out for 10-15 miles on Sunday if the weather cooperates. This particular group is called Moms on Bikes, and they all were very kind, and welcoming, so I think they understand that I am as green as…

Ok thanks. That sounds doable. We are starting next week, and I am really excited. I already feel more prepared when we hit the gym. I've been watching YouTube videos, trying to make sure I know what to be aware of. Thanks again to everybody who gave me encouragement and tips!

So here's another part to the question then: am I doing any damage by doing either body weight or weighted squats and not making it deep enough? Or is it just that I'm not really doing any good? I am going to keep trying, obviously, because I believe I can get it. And what is a good beginner weight on the goblet squat?…

That is great to hear I have a fighting chance at improving balance. My kids make fun of me all the time because I'm such a klutz.
-
Thanks for those tips. If I could figure out how to post a video, I would do that! I will continue to work on it...it's just frustrating because I don't really feel like a weakling-until I try to squat and then panic. I bet you're right, 3laine75, it's probably all in my head. I know that I have a fear of falling, always…

I have been using a fitbit for about a month now. The zip works great, and it's only $59.99. The app is super easy to use with MFP.

I have been doing research on this very question! So far, I have seen all different answers. I am hoping someone else can chime in!
-
Those are both good ideas. Didn't think of either...and they're both kind of obvious. ☺️

I'm 5'10", and I weigh around 216. I'm a size 16/18 on bottom, and a L or XL on top. 30 lbs ago I was an 18 on bottom and an XL on top. Not much difference at all....in another 30 lbs I expect to maybe be all the way out of 18, but who the heck knows. It depends on the brand, cut, style, etc. I will probably NEVER be a…

I've lost 30 pounds, and nobody has said anything. No biggie. I'm not doing it for them. I'm doing this for me.
