My current favorite pasta dish includes 1 cup asparagus, 1 roma tomato and 1 tbs onion, 2 cloves chopped garlic sauteed in 1/2 TBS olive oil, then tossed into cooked pasta and topped with 1 TBS grated parmesan. I also sprinkle on cayenne for added kick. Less than 400 calories per serving and surprisingly filling!

amk, I 've been reading a book called "The End of Overeating" and I just got to the part where it talks about "Food Rehab" or, how to stop overeating. Many of the strategies suggested include what we (or at least me) are doing by using MFP: setting goals and telling yourself some things simply are not part of the goals for…

Congratulations!! I know it feels wonderful because I have a similar story to yours. I also watched pounds gradually creep up but never thought I could do anything about it becuase I have always been so active and thought if all that exercise didn't help, then nothing would. Then one day I got the brilliant idea that maybe…

If you are feeling it in your back, then again, you are not lifting correctly and you WILL injure your back eventually. If you are doing them correctly, then the ONLY place you should feel this exercise is in your hamstrings. You should be bracing your spine with your abdominal muscles to protect your back while doing…

. Nothing, and I mean nothing, gives me a wicked case of DOMS like deadlifts! If you're doing deadlifts correctly then you should be feeling it in your hamstrings. Is that where you're feeling your cramp? Or are you feeling it in the side of your trunk, like where your obliques are? If its the first, then you are not using…

I walk alone all the time. I've walked through cities and forests with my own good company and have never been scared. Now I have a dog, so I am even more not-scared. Life is just too short to be scared. Carry yourcell phone and some pepper spray and go enjoy that beautiful property of yours!

I am positvely speechless - all I can think of to say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ed, that was very courageous and generous of you to share your story with us - thank you for that. I am so glad that you finally found comfort, peace and joy in your life. Your struggle with weight is not nearly as mighty as the other struggles you've had to endure and overcome. You are truly an inspiration. God Bless and…

hmm, I have been eating a lot of yogurt since starting on my weight loss journey...and many times I do add cinnamon to it! I wonder if there is some truth to this article!
-
Wow, 44 pounds in 12 weeks is an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations on all of your hard work!

I agree with the habit theory. In fact I'm reading a book right now, called The End of Overeating, and it talks about how we can become conditioned to eat certain foods at certain times because we have created a habit of it, not because we have an actual need for it. Particularly with sweets, we are most vulnerable. In the…

I love lemon bars and I love cheesecake and this sounds like the best of both worlds in one guilt-free package! Thanks so much for sharing :)

or cut down on your calories today and be sure to get in a lot of exercise between today and tomorrow before the BBQ so that you can splurge without guilt! (that's what I do)
-
Congratulations, that is an amazing accomplichment! From a 22 to a size 12??? Wow! I'm not sure if your ticker is calculating correctly though because it only says you lost 17 lbs.... At any rate, you deserve to go on a shopping spree for a whole new wardrobe to reward yourself for all that hard work!!

Just want to say that I DID eat my re-defrosted leftovers and boy were they good! And I live to tell about it! :drinker: On another (similar?) note my dog is on a raw diet with only two issues. Once he did sniff at a chicken leg, then look at me and whimper. I told him to eat it anyway, and eventually he did…

I read that article too. I always want to laugh at women who tell me they don't want to lift too much weight because they don't want to "get huge"!
-
Wow, that is very informative, thanks! And EEWW! I'm having second thoughts about eating my awesome leftover sirloin with mushrooms and onions and zucchini tomorrow:sad:
-
You're RIGHT! I've frequently bought meat from the supermarket that was clearly frozen at one time but was defrosted by the time I bought it. Thanks everyone for your input. I'll bring my leftovers, but i'll also bring a couple of dollars with me just in case I need to buy something instead

don't forget to mention that these chemicals have been linked to cancer!

The formulas that are used are just a genaralization, so you may in fact have a higher BMR than what MFP suggests. Like jeans, there is no one formula that fits us girls equally! Try adding a few more calories per day until you find the balance, say 50-75 calories per day until you stop losing (but don't gain!) and…

I'm not a beer drinker either, but in the summer I do enjoy a frosty cold one from time to time. I just tried a Bud Select 55 and it was surprisingly good! I'm actually now thinking of switching from wine & vodka to just that, since it's lower in calories than anything else! hmm, notice how I said "switching" alcohol, not…

I agree, the vodka calories add up waaaay too quickly!! when I make a mixed drink I use 2 ounces. Any less than that and I just wouldn't taste the vodka! I will easily have 2-3 drinks on a friday or saturday night, and viola! There is 420 calories I don't need!

I buy mine at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. On a rare occasion I can find something at my supermarket, but it happens so sporadically that I just go to WH of TJ for bacon and meats now and save myself the hassle.

Try reading this link, which does a great job of explaining why you SHOULD eat at least some of your exercise calories each day: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo Personally I enjoy eating my exercise calories very much! Although I too am observing…

you may also want to look into the "Couch to 5K" running program to learn a great way to condition yourself to become a better runner. Try this link for more info: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml I also do the "breathe in for 3 strides, breathe out for 3 strides" pattern when I run, which has always…

I make a dish almost exactly like this, except I roast the asparagus. It is delicious!

I agree! I'm making this next! :)

It took 18 pounds for me...and I'm still not a true 8 - some of them are a little tight.

I agree with what a previous poster said - you are probably used to eating overcooked pork. Pork is one of my favorite proteins (although my ancestors are probably rolling in their graves over that LOL!) I grill boneless pork chops all the time for about 20 minutes, then let it sit for 10 minutes. Letting it sit is the key…
