Isn't it a great feeling? Are you doing a wide grip, shoulder width grip, chin up grip? I read about alternating all of these into routines. The other day I ripped off 5 chin ups, followed by 2 legit pull-ups, and a single legit pull-up in my last set. 3 weeks ago I could do 1 set of 1, and get 1/2 way up with the other 2…

I just successfully completed 3 sets of 90 seconds each 2 days ago. I tack this on the end of my Stronglifts Workout A. Next Workout A I will be attempting 3 sets of 105 seconds (1 minute 45 seconds). It's killer, and I LOVE how I feel when I do them!

I will re-state the fact of not being able to spot reduce. I never felt like I did crunches properly. I have seen the greatest results in tightening up my midsection by doing planks, compound lifts, and I feel it a lot in prone jackknifes. Also, from my brief exposure to them - kettlebell swings seem to target my lower…

Level 2 was definitely the most challenging of all 3 levels, and did give the most results. Once I knew the order/exercises, I turned the volume off/down really low. I sometimes throw on this level if I am in the mood for a quick workout but am not quite motivated to push myself to do something on my own.

This is my routine - sometimes I change the days because of conflicting schedules etc. but, always allow for a rest between heavy lifting. Week 1: Monday - Stronglifts Workout A, plus 3 sets of 90second planks (I increase this time once I'm successful at all 3 sets) Tuesday - 3m run Wednesday - Stronglifts Workout B, plus…

Abs are made in the kitchen! Continue to eat at a deficit, and exercise - planks are AWESOME. Oh, for what it's worth, this is my progress to date: December 2012: November 2013:…

Winnipeg, born and raised....and for some reason I'm still here. ;-)

Maybe some fair trade coffee beans (or grounds), some lovely bamboo slipper socks, and a "Coexist" magnet or bookmark

Skittles and Smarties - I dump the package/box and sort according to colour. Then, I start with the colour that has the fewest candies and work my way up to the one with the most. I save the yummiest part of a meal until the end, so that it is the last thing I eat.

I'm doing a HM on May 4 and my first Full on June 15

This was a great read. As someone who is very new to running, I am always impressed and humbled by how warm, welcoming, motivating and uplifting each runner is that I meet.
-
Congratulations on your first half and meeting so many goals! You'll remember that moment for a long time.

Cheers! Grande Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte please.

I'm a lot slower than many here too and don't have much difference in my training vs. race. However, I've only completed one official race, but many runs on my own. LSD pace: 11 or 11:30 /mile HM pace: 10:28 I'm working on upping my training pace to be what my HM pace was as I felt fantastic during that whole thing.
-
For me personally my speed increased as my overall mileage increased. Try to make one of your weekly runs a long, steady, run. It doesn't mean that you have to run the whole time, but make this pace a bit slower, and run farther, and increase it by about 10% each week. Keep your other 2 runs at a steady pace, try to get up…

Merino wool...I had heard someone else mention this as well. I'll definitely be on the look out!

Thanks for the FAQ list and answers. I was wondering about doing a windproof pant, it might just end up being some trial and error on my part. Hopefully I'll have some success as I really don't like to do much more than an hour on the old treadmill before I get incredibly bored.
-
Congrats. I'm planning my first full for June '14, some days I feel excited at that thought, other days I feel like there is a pit in my stomach.

I only have 2, but they are currently hanging on the corner of the mirror in my bedroom. I want to frame my HM finisher medal and my bib in a shadow box and display it somewhere, because it was my first HM and I still feel great pride from what I accomplished. It's odd because I have a plaque of medals from my competitive…

I wear boy shorts in technical fabric - no point wearing something technical on the outside just to have something cotton holding on to all that moisture. I can't do commando - it feels weird to me.

3 unassisted pull-ups. Deadlift my bodyweight for 1 set of 5 reps. Lose -1 inch from my waist -1 inch from my hips -1 inch from my thighs Maintain my weight.

I have said on a few occasions that I was obsessed with the numbers and would take a 24 hour break...then right back at it, because it's a part of my routine.

I keep my hands out of their loot bags for a few days, but, once the novelty wears off (and they start to forget that they had memorized exactly how many little packages of nibs they each got) then I still start to treat myself. I was rather impressed with their haul this year, no cheapie crappy candies, but quality…
