  • I'm 5'11 This morning I weighed 183.4 I am wearing a size 9/10 pant, and mostly Medium tops.
  • Can't do pictures from work right now, but my top 2 are: David Boreanaz (Seeley Booth, Bones (and Angel)) Daniel Craig
  • Great work! I always feel like shouting from the mountain tops when I set a new personal distance best. Good for you for letting your accomplishment bring you joy!
  • Cheers to all for your responses. A lot of the training guides I have seen have a speed day built in and I never followed it. I will keep it in my back pocket as something I may want to build in come spring if I want to get more serious about doing races and PRs.
  • All I can recommend, based purely on my own experience with pain on a treadmill and pain running outside, is to stretch, stretch, and stretch some more. When I finsh a run, the first thing I stretch are my calves. I prefer to "hang" off of a step/ledge, and push that heel down to get a nice pull through my ankle/calf. Hold…
  • I'm also new-ish to running, sersiously since about February. I had started to do the C25K program in Novemeber, and suffered a knee injury early on. Under the supervision of a sports therapist, he had me build into parallel, but not below parallel, squats to build up some strength to support my knees better. Anyway, When…
  • Mmm...some of your meals sound great!
  • I often hear/say the following to myself: "Get out of your head" "Slow it up/Push it hard" (Long run vs. tempo days) "Stand up straight, lead with your feet not your crown". (Form reminders) "Breathe".
  • I also live in a northern climate with long, extreme winters. But, I have a treadmill to at least bang out some mileage on. I'll be honest though, after my first summer of being able to run outdoors (only started last fall) I will be buying myself some cold weather running gear so that I can run outside as much as…
  • Thanks so much for the replies. I did the circles last night, and I also went to a hot yoga class which really did help loosen my ankles, hip flexors and released some tightness in my IT bands as well. I will be trying to keep this as part of my routine.
  • I love my mizunos. They may or may not be the right fit for you though. I have giant feet, a neutral strike pattern, and I have a high arch.
  • These are all fantastic. I will guiltily admit that I have taken a personal day from work just so that I could go for a run in the beautiful sunshine.
  • My only "sport" was swimming, and I completed all the required levels to be a lifeguard, but never followed through with the requirements to be an instructor-guard. I was also involved in dance; tap, jazz, ballet and did Highland dancing as well in my youth. I tried one season of talking my parents into letting me play…
  • Just as people do not see my scale weight when I walk around, they also do not see the tags on my clothing. (Unless of course it is one of those times I totally missed the clear sizing sticker on my jeans/shirt and I walk around all day with it on my nipple/thigh). There is no need to be hung up on fitting into a size 8…
  • I have been looking into this too as I just dumped my old trainers after completing the mud run. What kind of exercising will you be doing? If you are doing circuits/cardio class then you will want to look into a cross trainer. They are designed to give you more side-to-side protection/support (read: no rolled ankles).…
  • I feel that long term success means finding a way to live life, including fast food, birthday cake, martinis, wine, Christmas, Easter, Halloween candy etc. Why, just yesterday I ate 3 pieces of pizza. I was high on my sodium, but everything else jived for the day. I certainly do not give food the power. I make the choice,…
  • Thank you for posting this. I too am running my first 1/2 on October 19th, and will also be my first ever road race. (I just did a mud run last week-end). I had been running with a local running club, before the summer became busy wtih camping and cottage life. I've still been running, but doing my own schedule as opposed…
  • I am a Hot Canadian Woman, partly because it is July 31st. If you had asked this question between Halloween and Victoria Day (3rd week-end in May) I would still be a popsicle.
  • Why would she not consult a doctor rather than strangers on a calorie counting site? At any rate, this can be a sign of quite a few different gastro issues that should be DXd by a professional. Things like crohn's and colitis, celiac disease come to mind.
  • I have been wondering the same thing myself...I figure I'll be good to run outside until at least the end of November, barring any crazy snowstorms that the city will have to clean up. I do have a treadmill, but there is no way that I will be able to do a good solid long run on there - it kills me to do 7K, never mind 18…

  • Hi! I'm a memeber of said "Giants" club. I started at 204, and am currently just below 184. I don't know how much smaller I can go and maintain, so, I'm just moving along, eating my food, doing my runs, upping some strength and wanting to keep it all off and welcome more positive changes. You look fabulous!

  • I would suggest cutting back a bit on the biking. Addind in some weights is a good way to still feel like you are being active everyday, while increasing muscles which will burn even more for you during the day. I hit a plateau for about the same length of time as you. I did a whole month of eating at my maintenance level…
  • You might want to check out the Eat More 2 Weigh Less group, and the 2013 support group. There are a lot of people going through metabolism resets and a lot of great advice there. When I personally first increased my calories, I focused more on making sure I ate all my calories for the day, then I started to focus on one…
  • It took a while for my eyes to catch up with the changes in my body. I think I had lost about 14 pounds before I actually noticed it myself. That was when my collarbone was more visible, and I could see more definition in my arms.
  • I've often wondered this too, but, given that my goal is not to get into physique competitions but rather just maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle, it quickly left my thoughts. BUT, speaking of comparing how much of the breast is fat vs. breast tissue is interesting. I have been losing inches from my chest, and have…
  • My body shape, and metabolism changed after kids, and unfortunately from the stories I read will continue to slow as I continue to age. Tracking is a learning thing, getting used to tracking everything, including week-ends is a great way to pinpoint the error of our ways though. Soon you'll be addicted like the rest of us!
