  • I recently posted this to another thread. As a regular main dish, pasta and instant rice aren't the healthiest foods out there - but if you really load the dish with protein and veggies, it's very filling, very cheap, and actually helps me eat more vegetables. As one of the other posters suggested, I use frozen store-brand…
  • I'm 5'2" and 203 pounds. If I were more comfortable showing some skin (as it is, I don't even really wear shorts), I would wear a bikini. I'm not toned, I jiggle, and I have back fat. Do I look like a magazine model? No. Do I think look good? Hell yeah! But that's the issue, right there: who cares if I "look good"? When I…
  • Congratulations on your loss so far! Celebrate your successes instead of focusing on what you haven't yet accomplished. It helps me to make several smaller goals of 5-10 pounds at a time; one easy way to focus on this is to join the monthly groups on here where you set a weight loss goal (could be anything from 1 pound to…
  • I'm starting late, but I'd like to set my goal at 10 miles. I trained for a 5K earlier this year, but stopped running as soon as I completed the 5K (June 7th). So, I've got 20 days to do 10 miles. Thanks for posting this challenge!
  • This pretty much describes me. I don't delete people for not logging in because I'm always happy to have the kind of understanding friends who are there when I come back. I delete people who are rude or gross. I accepted a friend request from a guy who commented on a friend's post. He seemed funny and dedicated to his…
  • On Thursday I ran for 25 minutes straight for the first time in my life. One month ago I could barely run for eight minutes, and two months ago I had trouble going a full minute. :-D ETA - CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on here!
  • No, but I'd consider it. HYE gone skinny dipping?
  • When I was doing the "lose 5 pounds in ___(month)___" challenges on MFP, I was able to do 4-5 if I really kept on it. Generally, about 3-4 pounds a month if I'm good, and 0-2 if I'm anything less than that. Good luck!
  • I rarely get hungry between decent meals if I keep busy. I've eaten a full meal and I'm hungry too soon, it's usually boredom. I notice that when I'm at work, I could eat a thousand calories worth of junk all too easily - but if I eat the same breakfast, lunch and dinner on my day off, which I usually use to run errands…
  • I realize this is an older thread, but I also wanted to say thanks and congrats. I'm doing Couch to 5K, and my first 5K is in under five weeks. I was looking for advice, and figured someone had to have started a thread for this, and I'm glad I found this one. I got a really nasty respiratory cold/infection thing two weeks…
  • Here's one more vote for LongIsland's post, and also my take on things. 1. Whether I was eating healthy or not, I wouldn't eat a second meal if I had just had one. If she buys it for you and you want it, put it in the fridge and save it for when you have room in your day for fast food - but keep in mind that if you eat it,…
  • I don't want to get into it, but yeah, a lot of people would lose that much weight if they weren't eating enough. Even people in concentration camps got 900 calories. Of course, they were then forced to work it off, but my point is, you're starving yourself worse than Nazis starved my relatives. That's not healthy. EDIT -…
  • Sometimes I have those days like four times a month (and they're usually all in the same week, thanks to my period - although it's still my choice to put garlic bread and candy bars in my mouth...at the same time). You can't undo what you did, so you have to own it and move on. Listen to everyone who mentioned drinking…
  • No, that's only if you play with your "Subway". Mother always told me not to play with my food...
  • To most people, everything is "okay" in moderation. Some people with super-human willpower will tell you otherwise. If I DON'T occasionally eat out or have cake or indulge a craving, I'm more likely to "cheat," overindulge, call myself a failure, and quit. So if you get a craving, or if a friend suggests going out to eat,…
  • I'm 5'2" and my goal weight is about 150, which is what I weighed when I started high school. Someone my height is "supposed to" weigh less according to the BMI scale (I think 134 is the top end of "healthy" for my height) and I've spent the last six years weighing between 175 and 210. At my lowest weight of 173 (which…
  • Congratulations on your success! Thank you for sharing this story. My pants are currently too tight, and I'd be thrilled to learn I've gone down a size or two - even if it involved my pants falling right off! ;-)
  • I understand what "Fit Mom" is trying to say; most people who are overweight or obese are that way because of their own poor choices. I know that's true of myself, and just about every overweight person I know. However, I also know a couple of people who cannot lose much weight for medical reasons. Fit Mom saying "what's…
  • I'd like to lose about 50-80 pounds. I have joined groups in the past, but I haven't been a daily MFP user since I had surgery. I'm trying to get back in the habit. I'm 5'2" and 199 pounds. Losing 50 would help me significantly with my back problems and probably get me out of "obese", and by losing 80 I'd be at a…
  • It's probably water weight. When I was on the pill and regular, I would gain about 3-4 pounds the week before my period and lose it by about day two of bleeding. Now, because I'm irregular, it changes slightly - but it always seems to come off after I get my period.
  • I don't have advice for you...I just wanted to wish you all the best. Get well soon! :flowerforyou: ETA - post-surgery diet is probably something you should discuss with your doctor. For some people, this is pretty severe and requires a hard core change in diet. Some change their diet to avoid overloading their bodies…
  • MY CURRENT WT (according to MFP - may be +/- 3 on a scale thanks to water weight): 195 MY 30 min BURN: 146 calories This is good to know. I thought it was the same regardless. I would like to get a HRM but it's going to have to wait until I'm not as super-broke as I am now.
  • Just because you added your personal experience to your opinion, that doesn't make the way you phrased it any less insensitive or disrespectful, "tbph". Telling someone who may have a body image disorder to simply "grow up" is not going to change the way he feels about himself.
  • I looked at all of the pictures, and you're thin from all angles - and the side one especially makes you look VERY thin. I agree with the others on here...you should listen to your doctor, and if you're still seeing the person you were at 19 st. then you'd probably be better getting help than trying to lose more weight. If…
  • Since you asked me what the biggest turn-off is to me...MY biggest turn-off is a tie between: -being racist/homophobig/prejudiced/anti-equality -accepting things that people say without doing your own research and finding out whether or not these things are true -thinking that letting people starve and be homeless is a…
  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not accurate information for Krispy Kremes. Last time I looked, it was more like 300+ each for one of their plain glazed ones.
  • LOL! BTW, looking good SoVi - I like your picture! :-)
  • Started Sept at 200 lbs. W1: 200 W2 : 200 W3 : 197 Total lost: 3 pounds October goal: 5 pounds down/ weigh 193 pounds I know that all of this pumpkin bread and chocolate is going to be hard to resist. I'm glad I have this group to keep me accountable. Good luck to you all in October! :-D
