I was planning to gradually phase it out once I reached my goal weight. Hopefully, I could get along without it. If I were to notice a considerable weight gain, though (like, 10 pounds,) I think I would probably start up again. My intent is to train myself to be able to get along without it, but if logging is what's gonna…

Yes. Yes, you are. You can just leave right now. ;)

Amazing job! Stretch marks, eh. You get 'em when you're overweight, you get 'em when you're skinny, you get 'em when you look at your stomach funny. Everyone gets them. Don't worry about it :)

Drink a cup of hot vegetable oil to cleanse. *shudders...* Never. Again.

He's a bit blase about it. He's supportive in his own way. He knows I do this site and he acknowledges my accomplishments. But I think I'm just more excited about it, so by comparison, he seems meh about it. He's just a low-key kind of guy. That's probably part of why. Maybe once he starts seeing a more noticeable change,…

No, I agree. If you don't have a good support system behind you, it can make it difficult to do all on your own. And if your friends are eating foods in front of you that you're doing your best to avoid but really do like, it makes it all the more difficult. When a certain friend of mine was living close by, I found it…

I'd die without grains :( I can't live without bread. What would I eat otherwise? But yeah, that's some BS. There's no good reason to cut out an entire food group. They all have differing values that we need to be healthy and survive. While we can get them elsewhere, grains are probably the best source for carbs. That, and…

I'm really not crazy about it. To me, it just tastes like sugary, milky water. Kinda gross, not so nice to put on cereal or anything. That's just my opinion. I'd prefer soy or whole milk.

While I wouldn't say it's my favorite, I have vanilla yogurt mixed into a bowl of corn flakes and some water as my first meal of almost every day. On days when my schedule is less rigid, I have a toasted bagel and cream cheese. That's really more to my liking.

It's hard to say. We'd need to know a little more first. What kinds of things have you been eating, what's your daily calorie limit, what kind of exercise have you been doing, how many times a week, that kind of thing. Also, don't be so hard on yourself about your accomplishment. Every pound counts!

Someone from Aichi Prefecture in Japan. I'm not sure if that's the proper demonym, though, or if there even is one. I specify because it seemed like there was better food when I lived in Shiga Prefecture.

I've never been there, but it sounds really nice. Though, I'll agree, probably not a lot of good places to go clothes shopping, there, lol

The minimum you (or anyone else, for that matter) is 1200 a day. As for a maximum amount to be eating, that really depends on your weight and lifestyle. If you're heavier or have an active lifestyle, the amount of calories you should consume will be greater. If you're thinner or less active, the amount of calories you…

I live in Aichi, around Nagoya.

Yeaaaaah... Me trying to sew is like asking a kindergartner to write calligraphy... Where I live, tailoring isn't worth it unless your pants cost, like, 100 bucks. Really, it's just cheaper to buy new pants. Japan: land of the expensive, home of the people who like nothing but name brands --;; fml... Also, to my knowledge,…

I'm inclined to believe. I swear, all Aichians are born without taste buds --;; Imagine a world of everything drowned in ketchup and soy sauce. Ketchup has no business in spaghetti, dammit! >.<

It's probably not on purpose. One thing I think we tend to often forget is that eating is a social thing. Probably, on a subconscious level, your family just wants you to eat more to engage with them more. That said, I'd stand your ground. Don't eat more than what you're willing to eat, especially if it's messing with your…

I tend to drink a lot of water, now. I'll put in some lemon from time to time. I drink a lot of different teas. My favorite is jasmine. I also like oolong, white tea, green tea, Lady Grey, Darjeeling, Prince of Wales... I could go on forever about tea. Usually, I'll put some jasmine packets into a pitcher, stick it in the…

I think I've heard this story a few times from a few different people. You get a jump start when you first start, gradually slow and then plateau. I think a lot of people are or have been in the same boat, so I don't think you're alone. I think you need to get started back up again. It's good that you've continued to be…

Great job. Keep up the good work!

Nope. No verifiable proof, no reason to believe. It's as simple as that.

You look great. Well done!

I'd cut out the rest of your pop, too. As someone who used to drink pop religiously, I know how difficult it is to quit, but I really think that's probably holding you back. There are a ton of calories and sugar in pop. One 12oz can of Dr. Pepper is 150 calories. Six are 900. Three are 450. (Wasn't sure if you meant cut 6…

Yes, I can. Your stomach, thighs and arms all look a bit smaller. Keep up the good work! :)

That could be very true. Like I said, since you see yourself every day and your body only changes a little bit day by day, minor visual changes might be hard to catch. However, you can remember a lot better not being able to fit into a pair of pants from the last time you tried and removed them, defeated. So, yeah, you're…

I have a hard time recognizing that I've lost weight just by looking at myself. However, I can notice the physical changes by feeling them. For some reason, I always tend to notice my fingers getting smaller. Probably because I fold my hands a lot. Or when I put on pants or shirts that I haven't been able to wear for a…

I would recommend trying this site first and foremost. I'm not an expert nor have I ever had or considered a lap band. However, I would like to bring up the fact that this would require surgery. Any surgery comes with risks and complications. I just had surgery a few months ago - not fun. Additionally, the lap band,…

Welcome back :) I just got back on this site as well after having surgery.

Yes, I've gotten this response. It's annoying. --;; I have a friend who weighs a considerable amount more than me. Not going to reveal how much. When I tell her I'm 80-something kilos, I typically get that response from her. Nevermind the fact that she's a full 4 inches taller than me and naturally has a normal build,…

Responding to the OP. If you're only observing people in restaurants, this isn't an accurate representation of -anyone's- diet. Generally, eating at a restaurant is a special kind of thing. You go out and you can eat whatever you want. Same for kids. I think it's kinda mean to treat a kid to a trip to a restaurant only to…
