Oh, and I was logging some of my time at work as cardio, usually walking at either 3.0 or 3.5 for an hour or two, because some days I feel like I'm pretty inactive, and 4 days a week I have a good amount of activity. I am not logging time at work anymore though, so would that alone mean I need to increase my level?
-
Forgot, I don't log cooking spray either.
-
I log everything so I don't get sloppy. I know myself, and I will start doing things like having "just a bite" of this or that, or "just a few" pieces of candy, etc., and I'll do it multiple times a day. Okay, I don't log gum (it's usually Trident or other some such sugar-free gum), or breath mints if I only have one or…

Was the diet something marketed by a pharma company? Some doctors will push certain medications, products, etc. when they have had a recent rep visit. (Not saying pharma and reps are bad, it just is the way the business is.)

I said I wasn't trying to be a jerk...sorry if I hit a nerve, I was not trying to start an argument. It's hard to tell tone from the internet, and your post about it made it seem like, "Eh, no big deal, it's stupid but the fact of the matter is that she's not in starvation mode." I didn't realize you were trying to say…
-
Not in starvation mode? She is killing herself, that is the definition of "starvation mode!" It does not mean a person will get fat, it means that their body is literally shutting down because it is trying to survive off its own tissues, down to the organs. She will probably die of a heart attack or kidney failure one day…

I think something "fun" every so often is a good thing. I had 200 cal or so left over yesterday, so I ate a dark-chocolate covered peppermint Joe Joe from Trader Joe's. Totally satisfying as a dessert, and 150cal, so not too terrible.
-
Wonderfully said!

Eat back half your exercise calories at least, if you are not sure about overestimating. I checked out your diary and you need to give yourself some credit and not have the "totally blew it" mentality when you are only over by 40-something calories, and take out the "WTF Was I Thinking?" category for your snacks!!! It is…

I go over every day, it's usually from fruit or whatnot. I am not drinking sodas, I really just drink coffee outside of my water intake. Sometimes coconut water. Have only been eating the occasional sweet or something with added sugar. I took it off my macros.
-
I would eat a little snack at least, so you're not going 18 hours without food. Eating below your goals for one day is not going to put you in starvation mode, but don't let it turn into a habit!
-
How much does MFP have factored in for you already? If your goals are at 1lb/week, it already has a 500cal deficit, if you are at 1.5lbs/week, it has a 750cal deficit calculated, and if you are going for 2lbs/week, it has a 1000cal deficit calculated. You don't need to go lower than that. Mine is 500/day, some days I hit…

Also, just because I look cranky doesn't mean I'm looking for a fight. :flowerforyou:

Another thing to think about - so many people are saying, "When I have kids, I will pack all their lunches." Well, I said this too, and I do pack my daughter's lunches most of the time. I usually give her a sandwich on wheat, or some cheese and crackers, some sort of fruit or baby carrots, and a "treat" sometimes, like a…

THANK YOU!!!

I am reading it, but there are a lot of generalizations in there that are pretty infuriating when sometimes people really just don't have the education to know what is truly nutritious and what isn't.
-
I drink it to relax and wind down, but it doesn't keep me asleep. I wake up in pain often (chronic pain issues from RA) or from one or both of my children shoving their way into my bed!
-
I agree that we control our own food choices, for sure. It is a common misconception though that eating healthily is more expensive - just look at the thread that popped up tonight about someone feeling like she needed to buy all organic to eat healthily.
-
Just go ahead and mess with the settings! Change it to 1lb/week. Eat some more calorie-dense foods and see where it takes you. I can't hurt to give it a try.
-
That's the plan I'm on, and it's working for me.
-
I am confused - first you said it was the parents' responsibility, then you asked when it became the parents' responsibility to learn good nutrition for their kids, then you went back to saying it was the parents' responsibility first. Maybe your kid does know good nutrition (my 5 year old can tell you whether an apple or…
-
My question is - how do you get the consistency to stay smooth? Mine always congeal. Every time.
-
What do you have your lifestyle and your pounds per week set at? For example, mine is lightly active and I want to lose 1lb/week. I currently weigh 201lbs and get 1830/day.
-
And if you don't believe that someone in the U.S. could not understand about proper nutrition, maybe you should expand your knowledge base a bit and study social economics and its effect on education.
-
So...you expect a 5 year old, 8 year old, even a 10 or 12 year old to learn all about nutrition, when many adults can't even figure it out? I think my brain just exploded. ETA: Plus you just said a couple of posts back that it's nobody but the parents' responsibility to teach their young children! Wow.

You will probably save money over that Lean Cuisine crap too. And if you were eating 2500 cal/day before, you don't need to cut your intake to under half that. Your body won't know what to do with itself! Try going to 1600-1800 a day and I bet you will see a difference. It isn't hard to up your calories even if you don't…

To the OP, don't assume that because someone is a stay-at-home-mom they have money, or time to cook extravagant meals. I am a SAHM who works at night on the weekends (well, I'm a student right now too, so even more poor than usual since I am a non-matric student and cannot get aid or loans), so I don't have a ton of money…

MFP has me set at 1830 for my net, which is in line with the metabolic breath testing my doctor gave me. I am a woman. I am losing weight. If I eat 1200 a day I don't lose...tried it in the past and it simply doesn't work for longer than a week or two.

As far as obesity goes, I have lived off things like pasta, ramen noodles, and PB&J and gotten fat. Ramen is cheap (you can get 3 packs of Top Ramen for $1) and loaded in calories, fat, sodium, etc.

School lunches are hardly a money-making enterprise. It's not like they're making profits and pocketing it out of corporate greed. Come on. Sure, it is a parent's responsibility to teach their kids to eat properly, but the lack of education about nutrition in our country is so ingrained that many people in low…
