I am still tryingto figure my way around the free weights myself. I have recently started using the bench. I do incline bench, regular bench and decline bench. I love the dumbells. I do shoulder presses, chest flyes, bicep curls, shoulder shrugs. Squats and deadlifts are my goal but have bad knees so working my way up to…

Both are good, but free weights work more muscles. Cant fake it with free weights. You get much more out of a free weight workout

I seem to Injure myself when doing running HIIT. I do inclines on treadmill walking fast instead. I alternate 1 minute flat and one minute at highest incline. I do that for 20 to 30 minutes.

I got the zip. It works great. Have yet to sync it to MFP though. The store I went to sold out of the zip one, some lady bought 25 of them earlier in the day. Glad she did, because I am happy with the zip and saved 40 bucks.

You guys all make some excellent points. I am going to focus on my form in all aspects of my lifting. I am pretty sure I have bad form especially with the free weights. How does one go about improving form. Any good books or videos on proper form. Since i was making gains in strength, i never focused much on form

what kind of stretches would be good. I need to start stretching more in general. Never really have, im not 21 anymore.

Good point. My posture was terrible. the shoulder press benches with the backs on them were full so I just used a regular bench and it threw off my form. Dumbell started going backwards when i had it above my head and tweaked shoulder when i tried to save it. Should of just dropped the dumbell. Im the dumbell now.

I over extended it from lifting too heavy of a dumbell when doing a shoulder press.

This has been super helpful. Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer the post. I got lots of options now and am going to try them all out. Hopefully I will be deadlifting soon. Strengthening around the knee seems smart. I take it that means strengthening the quads and hamstring and calves to better support the knee?

To the one who said they had similiar problems until they learned to stretch. What stretches do you do? I dont stretch at all now.

Believe my knee problem is tendonitis. These are some great suggestions. Going to gym today and going to try some of them out. May look into a trainer to watch my form too.

I live in hermitage area too. I drink beer so my weightloss is a lot slower. Thats impressive though, feels like June was yesterday and you lost a 100 pounds. Thats crazy. I eat some of my excercise calories back, or drink them. cheers.

Thanks. does anyone uses the noise cancelling type to workout in. The kind thst go over ear completely but can sweat with.

All the good beers i like are loaded with carbs, that kills my weightloss. Drank a sixer of brooklyn lager last night and when i put it ino MFP i wanted to jump off a bridge.

It is hard for me to stay motivated for a full hour. I do fine when hiking outside, but have trouble when on a machine that long
