  • Since moving to maintenance I have started to increase my calories slowly week by week (slowly so I didn't just gain 5lbs of water weight or whatever) and my weight is holding steady. I got stuck in a rut and was only netting 800 cals for a loooong time and I actually lost weight as I increased to 1400 as my body really…
  • I weigh and log everything I can and if I can't weigh it then I have a good guess. I have takeaways and go out to eat and I try to log that too. I don't refuse something I'd like because I can't be accurate about whats in it. I find logging more important than ever now as I struggle to eat enough and need to keep my intake…
  • I never really rewarded myself on my journey - apart from with new clothes of course. I set mini goals for events that were happening throughout the year, a wedding, my birthday, a holiday etc and other peoples reactions were a great reward.
  • This year I'm dreading storing food and cooking the dinner. My family (7 of us) and my mother and her partner will be staying in small apartments next to one another on a holiday camp. The ovens there are tiny and we'll have no freezer, just a small fridge each with an ice box. We'll have to move tables and chairs into one…
  • I would start saying no and put some on a separate plate. From experience I know its a bad habit to let your little one get into.
  • :o)
  • You have worked out your numbers using an online calculator so this is just an approximate number for someone of your weight/height/activity level. The figures could be quite different for you personally. You could try tracking your usual intake for a few days to see the average amount of calories you normally consume and…
  • Its not the yolks that are bad, its the whites! (No scientific or medical reasoning here, I just don't like the whites lol)
  • Inspirational, well done! Glad to have you on my journey :)
  • My belly buttons in the wrong place lol My waist is 26.3, belly button 33.8 and hips 34 I'd like to shrink an inch or so off the the belly button measurement for a flatter tum
  • Don't give up hope! I've had 5 big babes and after number 4 my belly skin spread half way down to my knees when I sat down but it got better on its own although I never dieted and was still a big lady. Since dieting and exercising for a year after number 5 my tummy now only flops/spreads (for want of a better word lol)…
  • I'm in the same boat and you just have to keep trying to up your calories slowly week by week. I found it so hard at first and I still have my wobbles but I'm eating a lot more than I used to. When I increased cals to 1200 I started losing again after having been on a plateau and I kept losing as I increased up to 1400 so…
  • Try 2 or 3 sets of 8-10 reps. If its too easy then increase the weight but make sure your form is good as an injury will stop you exercising for a long time
  • Good tips. For me, weightloss is only really complex because I over think it so much and beat myself up if I eat too much some days. Another good tip would be to just chill out about the whole dieting thing and not fret if you have a bad day. I read that stress causes an increase in cortisol which slows our metabolism and…
  • I wouldn't say that 40% carbs is low carb but its lower than most countries recommended carb intake which I understand to be 45-50%. I think 40% is a reasonable amount of carbs and would help people lose weight without really trying.
  • Your post got me thinking about ways to visualize our losses For those of you around the 40lb mark I found that these things that weight 40lbs: a 15-foot canoe a 3-year-old child an average human leg a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier five gallons of water For 60lbs I found: The average sized Husky 240 sticks of butter 3 of…
  • Well I just lifted half of what I've lost and I wouldn't want to carry that around for long! I'm definitely going to try to find some heavy stuff and lift it all tomorrow. And so that explains why my bf keeps picking me up so often these days...because he can now!
  • #2 'cause it made me chuckle

  • Its very difficult to work out where the problem is when we're not quite sure what your calories and macros are because you have to quick add calories and not sure your burns are correct. If you think you may be eating too little then try increasing your cals for a month and see what happens (it can take a while to see…
  • You can hold a lot of water when you're working out. Many people report gaining 5 or more lbs in the first couple of weeks. Personally I have found that when I workout consistently my weight either stays the same or goes up a bit and it stays like that for as long as I keep exercising. When I take a week or 2 out my weight…
  • I read that white was better nutrition wise but I'd have to get Googling to tell you why
  • I think the wrist measurements thing is flawed. By the time I entered the healthy weight range my shoulders and hips were looking really boney and when I reached the mid range for healthy weight people were saying I was starting to look anorexic. My wrists are 5.5 inches so that should make me a small to medium frame but I…
  • I'm 5'4 and started my journey at 167. I have 5 young kids so I'm not sedentary either and I found 1200 cals was too low and made me ill once I started exercising so I wouldn't suggest you cut that much. I was doing JM's 30DS and using MFP's calorie burn estimations. I was losing around a 1lb a week eating 1350-1400 cals a…
  • Have you been doing vids for a while? Could you come up with your own suitable routine if you know a lot of moves? I got bored of the videos and do my own thing now which seems to be working well for me
  • I'm 5'4 I think...who knows, I could be 5'3 lol. I've been here nearly a year. Started out with dancing, moved to Jillian Michaels workouts and now I'm doing my own circuit/strength stuff. Theres a couple of pics in my profile that show how far I've come although my journey is far from over. You can do it too! I'll be…
  • If you have abdominal separation there are certain exercises that you can do to try and bring them back together but there are also exercises that should be avoided so it might be worth googling
  • Sometimes I just hold the weights beside my body and other times I hold each end of a dumbbell up over my head to one side and then bring it down diagonally across my body to the other side of my body quite quickly as I lunge and I can feel it working my tummy muscles. Its quite challenging to stay balanced. I lunge…
  • I have any c sections with my 5 but since I got into strength training I have found my tummy muscles doing funny things! Sometimes it feels like theres a babys foot moving about under my ribs in there and its a weird sensation also quite often when I'm laying down and my partner has his hand on my tummy he asks if I'm…
