It's very common to get more hungry after exercise, it's exactly what's supposed to happen! Which is one reason some suggest that exercise can be counterproductive to weightloss, I think Time had an article about exercise making you fat some time ago. One way of countering this is to change what you intake, find foods that…

Once a month isn't too frequent, I have at least one gorge a week, I tend to save it for a Saturday night :) But then last night I hate a 1500 calorie bar of chocolate and overate by around 4000 calories in total. I do make sure I still track everything. BUT, and there is a but, there can be psychological issues for…

Because people don't understand that being fat is about disease, addiction and a lack of education. They believe that if you're fat you're lazy and stupid when in actual fact it's more likely you are ill, have an addiction or are uneducated when it comes to nutrition.

Don't cut them out. Fit them into your calorie and macro allowance. There's no reason at all to cut out any kind of tasty snack.

A calorie deficit does mean fat loss. If you do not lose fat then there's something wrong. Don't start playing strawman, I didn't say a thing about not meaning muscle loss. Re. bodybuilders, not the best of examples. Yes prep can take months but we're not talking about a drop from 20% BF to 15%, we're talking about maybe…

I said "you should be seeing weight loss in the first day or two really, unless you had a nice diet to begin with". If you are overeating and then drop a reasonable amount of calories then you should see results in the first day or two, especially if cutting out processed foods. If your diet was only a few cals over then…

All wrong so far, you should be seeing weight loss in the first day or two really, unless you had a nice diet to begin with. But here's a few observations. 1. You're not at a calorie deficit. If you were you'd be losing fat. So either a) your maintenance calories are wrong or b) your food input is wrong. 2. You macro…

Oh and quit this program. You already said you hate restriction, you don't see this as a long term solution which immediately rings alarm bells, not withstanding the fact these guys are suggesting 30g of carbs a day. I wonder why they need to promote themselves on Groupon because as we know, all the best trainers and…

If you have serious metabolic issues or are extremely obese then there's a case for ketogenic intervention (or for various autism disorders) but unless you're in one of these three categories it would be criminal for anyone to suggest you should go onto 30g of carbs a day. I know exactly why trainers or 'health…

Oh good lord why did I just post that link, these forums are mad enough as it is without people jumping on that, not understanding it and now gorging 90% of their food at breakfast. Sweet Jesus. Just for clarity, EAT WHENEVER YOU LIKE.
-
There are actually studies that show that people who skip breakfast may be more prone to obesity. Eg http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/early/2013/06/03/dc13-0316.abstract However, and this is a BIG however, these are correlation, not causation. So the study is useless. Other than as an academic bit of fun.

Lol. More hogwash. I don't even know where to start but you do know that insulin is a protein right? And that protein itself is insulinogenic? And that you need insulin to spike and clear to create and feed muscle? Eat whatever you like before bed. Indeed there's plenty of evidence to show carbs before bed are massively…

Utter nonsense. Eat whenever you like. Don't eat too much, don't eat too little. It really doesn't matter when you eat, it really doesn't. And this 'body goes into famine mode' stuff, urgh, I just wish people had some science or learning to back up their spurious ideas before stating them as fact. It doesn't help anyone to…

I stand corrected! Secret doors!!!!! :)

I don't actually count water as I'm not that anal but if I were to, then if my food had enough water quantity in it then sure, I'd count it. If I was making a pea soup which had 3 litres of water in it then yes I'd count it. I wouldn't do the same for steak because the water content would be negligible and it'd be…

So many crazy people out there. Water is not water if mixed with whey protein? What does it become exactly? Anyone that believes this, I would love to hear the science behind what happens to the water when it's mixed with protein and how your body processes the water differently? What are the new pathways created? Does the…

Ignore scales for body fat readings. My scales have that feature and I check it every now and again. It's ridiculous. I know my body fat is 11%. One minute the scales say 15% then literally 2 mins later 17%. Use callipers. Much more reliable.

There's no scientific definition of what a 'clean' food is. It's also extremely subjective and often changes according to one's agenda. The term is actually ridiculous. I think many consider it to refer to foods that are low in calories and added chemicals. The more calorie dense a food is, some might say, the less clean…

All fast food options are healthy, as long as you don't eat too much of them. Keep the amount you eat in check and go for whatever tickles you.

Going low carb or keto is crazy unless you are using it as intervention for some kind of metabolic or medical issue. If you're at 50% body fat then fine, if you have ADHD or autism then fine but otherwise don't do it. Yes you can lose significant weight in the short term but you won't sustain it, much will be water weight…

Awesome story! But must say, LOVE the sleave!

People who guess or give advice they're not sure of... :explode: Of course you count it as water. It's water. Same as if you add water to oats, or to juice or to a smoothie and so on.

No, MFP is a bad method, you want to eat the MAXIMUM calories you can and still lose weight, even if the weightloss is very low. Here's why. If you eat 1500 cals now...in a month you will stall. So you'll have to cut even further, or add more exercise, a month later you'll ned to do the same again. Before you know it…

Up the carbs. Eat a nice big bowl of rice tomorrow. Up the total calories to 1650 as well. Don't weigh yourself the day after. Then go back to your 1200 calories. See what happens over the next few days. You will put on a little weight but should see nice results after the refeed. To be honest on such low calories (too low…

So much broscience. No, it's not important for weightloss or for metabolism kickstarting (whatever that actually means). If a person wants to because for them, as an individual it helps them control calories/cravings/makes them feel better then superb, eat breakfast. If it makes them think their metabolism rages like a…

In answer to your question, is it calories in/calories out? Yes. and No. If your maintenance is 2500 and you drop 500 for a week (barring any major illness or allergies) you will lose weight. Now here's where it gets complicated. There are two things to consider. 1. Metabolic adaptation 2. Composition. First, your…

What a crock of absolute b...let's just call it utter nonsense. I won't even get into how ridiculous the concept of 'mind over matter is' but perhaps you might want to look at some more recent research on cognitive science and the science of free will and habit. But even apart from that, an addiction is an addiction. This…

Sensible advice on MFP? who'd have thunk it? Yes, hit your macros, find your calorie maintenance level and then go under it by 100-200 cals. When you stall drop a tiny bit. Have a refeed every so often, have a nice day where you add five or six hundred calories to a meal. Maybe every couple of weeks or again when you stall…

It's not difficult, just eat lots of lean meats. Chicken, turkey, indeed depending on fats (which should be relatively high in the diet to compensate for the low carb levels) you can even go for less lean cuts, nice fatty beef mince for example. If I were to go lower carb I'd eat plenty of steak, chicken, lamb and add veg…
