  • It's hard to put on muscle at the same time as losing weight, but it's possible. "Toning" generally comes from losing fat, making the muscles you already have more visible. Protein shakes isnt a miracle product. It contains high concentration of protein, but not much nutrients. Focus on a good balanced diet with enough…
  • What is low calorie to you? I make a carrot-cake oatmeal for about 250 kcal per serving. Finely grate a carrot. Mix oats, carrot, cinnamon, water, a splash of milk and sweetener (optional). Let cook for a few minutes till carrots have softened. Take off the heat and add vanilla whey (optional). In a separate bowl blend…
  • Lemonade, custard/curd/marmalade, chutney, bread rolls, rhubarb liquor... or microwave with some sweetener and top your oatmeal with it. The tricky part is that rhubarb usually needs alot of sugar.
  • IMO the trick to really good home made iced coffee is vanilla essence (not extract) and to make sure the drink is absolutely ice cold. Ice cubes help too, but mostly for the "im drinking iced coffee" feeling. :p
  • On maintenance I eat about 1600 kcal. 1000 calories a day is fine short term. Do pay some attention to your vitamins and minerals though - especially the fat-soluble if you're mainly eating veggies....but most of the storages take some time to deplete so once again short-term you should be fine. If we're talking long-term…
  • You could try increasing your intake slowly, maybe just 100 kcal more. For a week or a month depending on how you feel. Then another 100 and so on. Also try to remember that even if you do gain a little bit one month you can easily lose it again - you have before. On the other hand the best thing to do would be to quit…
  • I was gonna join in on the very interesting conversation about who knows best... but instead im just gonna say this: Don't overcomplicate things. See what works for you. Try not to overdose on added sugar.
  • Have you seen a physiotherapist? Perhaps strengthening your back could help ease the troubles and in the long run help you be more active.
  • Well.... uncooked beans are extremely cheap. Just cook a biiiig batch and freeze in portion sizes. As for what to bring to work. Is it possible to bring prepared frozen meals that can be eaten cold and then just let them defrost slowly through the day...
  • I have to get behind skinnytaste.com here. Definitely not boring recipes. Everything is calculated and the serving sizes actually make sense to me. You can search for "brown rice" on the site if you wish, but there is also so much more to see!
  • Eat normal healthy food for the rest of the day. There is no reason to starve yourself - it could trigger another binge. That is a tip some of my binge-eater friends got from their doctors, to keep eating as normal and try to figure out what to do the next time you feel a binge coming.
  • Grats! Good job. =) Now, how to make the rest of the world realize what we know? It would just save so many people sooo many years of self destruction and self hatred.
  • Eating a VLCD for a set period is no problem for most people, especially the morbidly obese. Alot of people will find the motivation and strength to continue once they see those first pounds melting away. There are many ways to go from point A to point B. This is just one of them. As you get closer to your goal and the…
  • I think I can be a little harsh sometimes. Usually it isn't about the person(unless they're really creepy). It's more that I'm startled when random people talk to me. Especially if they start giving me compliments, I usually think they're pulling my leg. I do still take being hit on(in a non-creepy way) as a compliment. A…
  • I usually fail... but I think a good way of thinking in a situation like that. If you're at your kcal limit and you have cravings - allow yourself to go a little over limit, but by eating something healthy(like how you ate the yoghurt) instead of giving in to your craving. Another trick is to occupy myself - exercise is…
  • Make your own. Find a really thick and creamy greek yoghurt or quark if you can find it. Mix 200g yoghurt with 100g frozen raspberries by hand for a few minuters until the raspberries start to break down or soften. Sweeten. Eat. Yum =) ..or just sweeten, flavour and freeze the yoghurt for 30-60 min. Yum too. ^^
  • Is there a substance in this specific part of the skin that isn't found in any other food?
  • stationary bike - fiddle with my phone, read or study, sort out my workout running - the app Zombies, Run! it tells you stories and makes you run from zombies while you're at it if I really want something fun i do intervals of some sort(running, jump rope, tabatha etc) doesnt get as boring when it keeps changing
  • Because it does work. You will probably lose quite a bit of weight doing this and you will feel lighter, cleaner and less bloated. It's completely natural - you're barely eating. Doesn't mean it's the most healthy way to go about doing it, but it probably does work. As for detox or not detox I think that is up to each…
  • Being asked, in the middle of a deadlift set, if I need the plates laying next to me. Please, wait until I finish my set atleast. It only takes a minute. =( It's sort of hard to talk when I'm trying to keep my form right and abs tights so I don't tear something. lol
  • I don't think weight is what really stops a person. I was fairly skinny but still with the mind of a fatty. I was about 120 pounds and I just couldn't run lol. I could walk faster than I could run... So I really think it's just about practice and technique... and mind set.
  • My absolute favorite drink is highball glass filled with ice, white bacardi, a generous splash of lime(and a wedge ofcourse!) and fill up with sprite zero... its like a fizzy daiquiri... the only thing i like more is a real daiquiri or a frozen strawberry daiquiri. oh... and you didnt REALLY party unless you lost atleast 2…
  • It took me until "Zombies, Run!" app was released to enjoy running. After that I couldn't get enough of running, gathering meds and gadgets and saving people from zombies. I also enjoyed running much more when I went to the states(Im from Sweden). In the states everything was so new and different so wherever I went I knew…
  • I usuallyweigh myself first thing in the morning(well, after I pee) on mondays. Ofcourse you'll weigh more in the evening, but if your diet is consistently about the same every day and you always weigh yourself on that evening it shouldnt matter. Bottom line is always weigh yourself at the same time, not in the morning…
  • First off: If your measurements are going down even if your weight is going up, i wouldnt worry too much. However, as mentioned, it takes time to gain muscle but if you never lifted anything heavy before you might gain some easy muscle right at the start. But it's most likely water weight. Especially if you weighed…
  • To be fair. You're supposed to eat it as topping on yoghurt(or milk - bleh!) and on top of an already full bowl of yoghurt it would create the small mound. Your bowl looks to be just a bowl of cereal, nothing else? I totally agree anyway. Weigh your food... AND cereal can be pretty calorie dense and useles as a filler...…
  • I disagree. Nutrition is, imo, very complex. There is so much to know about it and so much that we still havent figured out. However, there's little reason for the average person to know ALL of that information. Losing weight, and staying healthy is, on the other hand pretty simple and pretty much boils down to the points…
  • Suck it up. Stop asking yourself and start telling yourself. Basically, in the back of your head there's a little evil person asking "should I really have chicken for dinner today?" or "Perhaps I should go for a walk?". That voice needs to change to "I AM having chicken today" and "I AM going to go for a walk"...and so on.…
  • The article does have alot of valid points though. Im sure you've all overheard or even been in a discussion with someone that goes something like this: - Im trying to lose weight so I'm eating alot of fruit. + Just be careful not to over eat it, fruit contains calories aswell - Yes, but It's fruit. + But it's still…
  • A battle between 2 beliefs on the forums tonight it seems... It's like bringing up politics or religion..
