This. It is really that simple.

1400 cals a day is perfectly reasonable. Besides, the more you exercise the more you can eat. Trust MFP, they are doing this for years now and they are doing it well. I never thought that I can loose so much weight so easily, and here I am, from 26 % BFI to 19 without pain and being healthier then ever.

One day of junk food has no impact on your progress, still not a good idea...at least isn't a good idea for me, because the junk food just act as kryptonite, for real, and I end up in at least a few days of serious binge. Maybe it's just me, but this is what I just realised, from my almost two years of weight loss journey.

I am 49, was chubby and sedentary for all my life, lost in 2013 58 lbs, now I am the very proud owner of a " six-pack".

I am doing this since January 2013, with 1200 cals a day. That's totally sustainable, I lost 58 lbs in 10 months, feeling no hunger at all. Now I try to maintain this, so I do the same 1200 with very few cheat days.

Wow! Just wow! You left me speechless! Amazing achievement.

I can tell you my story: my only thoughts were to log everything I eat and work out hard. I wiped out of my brain that I want to get rid of my fat and I wasn't even think about that, no scale, no nothing. I weighed myself for the first time after 5 months, and I found out that I was 35 lbs thinner. Did the same for another…

Please enlighten me! I see that this topic is at "food and nutrition", but I cannot believe that this could be serious... If so, I so want a diet based on sweets and icecream...
I accepted the fact that the journey is never ending. I can always be better. When there is no end point, there's no rush to get there!
The greatest answer, this is what I've learned since on MFP. I am not that young (49), was big all my life since a toddler, but now my bmi is 19.5 and bf is 19.7, I have…

Whenever I see a Mcd hamburger, or even the lights of a KFC, I think that eating those is at least 60 minutes of hard cardio...do I have the power for those minutes? If I do, I can eat a hamburger, if not, I just have a glass of water.

I function at my best only in a challenge, and really need to drink more water. 1'st of May is near, can we start a new challenge, anyone?

I was overweight all my life until 2013, when I reached my weight goal, losing 57 lbs. Since than, your struggle is mine, too, and for me, maintaining is harder then losing. I discover myself all the time looking at food and seeing just calories. I eat a chocolate biscuit and immediately count that I have to fit that…

To answer, we need some more info, such as weight, BFI. If you do have fat on your belly, you need some cardio to lose it, and work in the meantime on your abs.
-
This is one of the first important things you have to learn when starting the weight loss journey. Forget about the scale, and I mean it. Your best friend now are the mirror and MFP.
-
After losing more than 57 lbs, my feet shrunk two sizes

This is The place to be if you really want to change the way you feel. If you just follow the many advices you have here, sooner than you think you won't believe what you accomplished. Just have faith in yourself, and try to follow the rules. I myself am 49, always been chubby, and now I'm slim, fit, and have a 6 pack, if…

This. Your metabolism is increasing slowly, but since then you'll be used to smaller portions, and yes, you will eat very often. I lost some weight myself, I reached my goal and now I have to eat every 2-3 hours max, but my calorie intake stays somewhere around 1250 net.
-
Down 58 lbs in a safe and easy way, think for yourself.
-
Ok, so if we all agreed, who's posting the challenge? I'm in as well, but I don't know how to do that. Let's make a group perhaps!
-
This is the way for me too, and I successfully shed more than 3 st of fat this way.
-
This. That's the best part of MFP...you can eat anything until you fit it in your calorie goal.
-
I so envy you... I'm from Romania, Eastern Europe.
-
The same here. It was such a long and hard journey, I really want to maintain for ever, and MFP is such a big help.
-
Me too!

Chocolate...lots and lots

Nothing special... just plain yoghurt and corn flakes...

I'm just curious what have you done since your original post...Have you continued your diet and exercise? second, I just want to say that I lost 51 lb in about 8 months, now I have 112 lb and I am 5,28 feet tall. Now some people call me anorexic and too skinny...which is simply not true, isn't it? So don't mind what people…
