Go ahead and do it and if you have to walk some so be it.

My best advice for any of you is to hook up with your local running stores. They often have training programs for beginners and group runs. In my opinion we have the best running community EVER in Wichita Kansas thanks to the owners of GORUN Wichita.

Get a Garmin watch. VERY accurate.

Take some time and figure out what you need bathroom wise as a runner. For me, I need to be up 90 minutes in the morning prior to running or I get some of the symptoms you have described. I have NEVER been one of those people to just pop out of bed and run. I need to be completely empty. If not, I will have blood in my…

Run 4 times a week with one of them being a long slow run. Do speed work in short bursts (fartleks) and you might get faster. Slow is OK.

I do! I have been running for 35 years. I am 51 years old and have done SEVERAL 1/2 marthons and am training for my first full marathon OKLAHOMA CITY MEMORIAL MARATHON at the end of April.

LOVE IT, but only in a class with a GREAT instructor. It helped with my staminia with my running. Sadly I can not work it into my Marathon training, but will come back to it after my race.

I stay in the same pair of shoes for 500 miles. I am a Brooks Ghost Girl and believe if it's not broke, why fix it.

This is all good advice but try to find out if your local running stores sponsor training groups. In Wichita Kansas we have a running store called "GORUN" and it has "paid" training but you get a lot for $125.00, including a $100 credit towards new shoes, socks, a shirt and most importantly scheduled group long runs. Who…

^^I Have that bottle. You might also find a group to run with that puts water out for runners. Check with your local running store.

You really need a solid base of running before you jump up to a 1/2. I have been a runner my entire life and have ran several 1/2's. The distance is "Mom" friendly. That being said I "slacked" this fall and did not train. I simply ran a 1/2 a week ago. BIG MISTAKE! My best half to date is a 2:12 well the one I simply ran…

I love spin and it is the one class that my husband and I take together.

I do that too. but lack of sleep does not seem to harm me. The night before a race I will take an Ambien. Last spring I ran my fasted 1/2 2:12 after not having slept good for an entire week. We had a death of a staff memeber at our school and it was very sad, drepressing and stressful.

I tend to eat more on the days I do my long runs. Are you a new runner? How old are you? I am not certain that 5 1/2 marthons in a year is a good choice. Break it up a bit maybe and do some 10K's or 5K's. I think you need to give your body some "recoop" time and mix things up. I have made your mistake and when I took the…

Get ready for TMI: I have to wait an hour after I have gotten up before I run. Just how I am. Would love to be that person that rolls out of bed and can run after only being up for 5 minutes. The hour gaurantees that all my bathroom issues have been addressed. On race days I actually give myslef a water enema to get REALLY…

Do you know about dailymile.com? It motivates me. You can friend request me. I am Natalie J. from Haysville Kansas.

I think the Doctor will make you take off 8 weeks before you can run. I too am a vetern 1/2 runner who would not consider 12 weeks enough time to train for my 1st full marathon. I think you should back out of the full and choose another one at a later date. It sucks that you have fund raised but there will always be…

Is your heart rate up? If so 600 is good. I could actually bump mine up to 800?
-
I work it hard in zumba. It is actually more challenging to me that running 6 miles. An instructor in my class once wore a montior to see how many caloires she burned. It said 900 for the hour! I use 600 calories for the one I created. Doing zumba tonight.

May I reccond Title9 Apparal to you, they have a bra called "The Frogger" that you might be itnerested in.

I am a seasoned runner that would love to join your group. I do atleast two half marathons a year and will be moving up to a full marathon this year.
-
If you have a solid running background you should be able to do a 1/2 in February. Just build it back up slowly, and maybe use the race as your peak?
-
see if a water tabata class avaliable. I went and I liked it.
-
Doing well logging my food. My mileage has dropped as I really do not train for races until January.

OK so here is a little about me. Perimenopausal weight gain is getting the best of me. I am a runner and the extra 10-20 pounds on my 5'3" frame are really interfering with my running. My current weight is 140. I have run 5 1/2 Marathons with my best race being 2:15. I want to improve my speed and/or take it to the next…

Can I join this group? I am 50 tomorrow!
