Haven't tried Symlin, but I have been on Victoza for a couple of years. When I first went on Victoza my insulin dose dropped to just over half of what it had been pre-Victoza and I lost about 3-4 pounds over the first couple of months without making any changes to diet or exercise. I have had lows whole on Victoza but I…

I just put on four pounds while scanning this thread. Danger Danger Danger!!!!!!!!

Fiber One Honey Clusters are nice. Fiber One Original is sort of like eating twigs, but is greatly improved by the addition of fruit - and the fiber fills you up and helps with other things too.

I aim for about 130 - 150 spread out over meals and snacks. I think its pretty individual, though.

Out of curiosity I just looked up the calcium content of common foods. According to Harvard, it looks like dairy, including milk trumps vegetable sources of calcium by a mile. It appears you would have to eat over three cups of broccoli to get the calcium found in one cup of skim milk. Almond and soy milks are not…

A nice company dinner - made with care to a void the worst calorie disasters. Oh, and JUST STEP AWAY FROM THE CHOCOLATE!!!!

I lost a bit of weight on my last cruise. I ate most meals at the buffet. It really makes a difference how you view a buffet. If you have to eat some of everything, or if it is just an opportunity to stuff yourself on things you like, by all means avoid them. I like to treat a buffet as an opportunity to select healthy,…

Do you have kids? A house and yard to maintain? Aging parents who need assistance? Do you take night school courses to keep technically current for your job (or to get a better one)? Do you have any health issues that need monitoring or treatment? Extended family you keep social contact with? Do you do any volunteer work?…

"Fears are like underwear" - I thought you meant I should use clean, nice ones every day in case I get hurt and rushed to the hospital.....

From what you have described, I would say only - keep up the good work. Unless you are burning a lot with exercise you should be good at your goal. If you are burning huge amounts with exercise, you might want to think about upping your calories some on the days you exercise heavily (eat back some more of your exercise…

Give it time. There is an unwritten law that says that the first ten pounds will come from places you won't really notice or care about. By the time you have lost all 25 pounds at your goal the belly will have shrunk. Make sure you do lots of exercises to strengthen your core too - it will give whatever bit of pooch you…

Plain old skim (non fat) cow's milk for me. In cooking, on cereal or on its own . Started drinking skim milk as a (fat) kid and liked it a lot - still do. My biggest challenge is to remember that it's food with calories - not water to chugged by the liter.

This is great to see. You are wonderful.

Ah so! White Day!. Sounds like fun, I always give my husband special things on Valentines Day, so I understand today he is to get me something white - like white chocolate, or lingerie......

Well I was going to weigh in and say that no, you could not make scrambled eggs in a microwave, but I see a lot of people like them that way. I think they are terrible - not really a scrambled egg texture, more like the steamed egg wodge we used to get at the school cafeteria - I'd rather eat styrofoam. But each to their…

I took a look at your diary. I'm glad to see the changes you have made in the last few days. Earlier you seemed to be setting yourself up for failure: scanting yourself on calories while working out, missing meals- eating junk (Poptarts are junk) not eating veggies - consistently coming far under your macros in protein and…

I am interested to hear that some people are using Victoza on its own - that is, without an insulin as my doctor prescribes it (in my case, Levemir, and insulin analogue). I have had no complaints about it whatsoever - it has worked exactly as my endocrinologist said it would and without negative side effects.. As I…

Not a tiny bit silly. This is wonderful! You have set a great precedent - a lot of us owe our bodies a sincere apology. I think I'll start working on mine. Thanks.

I must disagree with you, jaygreen55. I have been diabetic for over 20 years and have, throughout that period, educated myself (and in some cases my family doctors!) on my condition and on the treatments, medications, effects of various medications, nutrition and latest medical findings that relate all of these. I stay on…

A free day or cheat day would kill my progress. (At my size and age I have very little leeway between losing slowly and not losing at all.) But there are some meals when I decide to set the strict diet aside. These come up every few weeks - a special occasion not just every Saturday or whatever. I still watch portions on…

I take Victoza along with Levemir. When I started the Victoza I was able to reduce the Levemir (an insulin analogue) by almost half - and I spontaneously lost 3-4 pounds (I was not dieting at the time.) It seems to have been a good addition to my medications.
-
I take an insulin analogue - Levemir, along with Victoza. Levemir is a basal insulin which does not have weight gain as a side effect and the Victoza has also helped curb my appetite some. Have you talked to your endocrinologist specifically about the weight issue? Perhaps a switch might help.

I think "bloatation" is a lovely word. It should be a word. It accurately and concisely describes a known condition and can be of particular use to those of us who suffer from it. I think we should petitiion Funk and Wagnalls, Mirriam Webster and Oxford to include it..........

Way to go Betty! I'm happy for you. I have been steadily reducing my meds and hope that by the time I hit my weight loss goal I will be down to ---- well, I'll settle for only one or two meds in small doses.....

My go to response is: One small juice box of unsweetened apple juice followed up by a protein plus carb snack (peanut butter or cheese on a slice of toast) if its more than an hour to a meal. The juice box is portable, readily available and gets me out of the hypo within minutes. Not to mention, its kind of a treat because…
