  • you look fantastic! I'm going lifting this afternoon and you've inspired me to do it with a smile!
  • you look fab!
  • No I don't think so - as long as you are stretching out nicely afterwards...if you get any twinges try and do some sit ups and upper body work to make sure you don't get injured but basically that looks good to me. Also it might be worth following a programme like one of the Run Keeper programmes (which are free) or one of…
  • There's a really good article in last month's Runners' World (UK) about breathing and running...breathing doesn't come naturally while you are running to lots of people and you kind of have to train yourself (and your diaphragm muscles) just like you have to train your legs! Practise breathing deeply and slowly from your…
  • New Rules works really well for me too - and it doesn't take that much time!
  • you're both very, very cool!
  • you can get from the German Amazon (in English)!
  • sudacrem ...if you're from the UK, it's a nappy rash cream but it works beautifully!
  • Well done you - I can really see the difference, you're looking way healthier and stronger....good luck going forward
  • Good on you and good luck with it. You get a taste for sugar just like you get a taste for salt....I cut back like you and I found I was getting terrible cravings then after a couple of weeks they went away and I found that things that hadn't tasted sweet before (like milk) suddenly tasted really sweet. It obviously…
  • PS: I don't know whether you guys are American or English but there was a really good article in last months English Runners World about running and weight loss. :)
  • Hi there - I've run for a long time but I've lost quite a bit of weight over the last 6 months and it has definitely made me a lot faster (I've taken 14 minutes off my 10km PB) so loosing weight makes sense for a runner (obviously within reason). I've found that changing the quality of what I eat helps a lot - I make…
  • I'm doing a 10km too (it's in 2 weeks time) and for the last two weeks I've been following a programme on Runkeeper, it's free and I think it's quite good, it pushes me but it's not crazy. Good luck!
  • I've been using one of the Run Keeper programmes (off their website). Obviously it's not as good as a buddy but if you commit to it, it does get you out on the road and mixes things up so you don't get bored. Plus it's flexible and you can do them anywhere (AND its free!)
  • depends how you do it....someone said to me 'you know what you've got such a great figure now you should show it off'. That was really nice. My trainer was a bit more brutal she said 'you've got to get rid of the fat person's clothes or you'll just be tempted to fill it out again' (And then she said 'I forbid you to wear…
  • That's a great time, I'd be thrilled with it. Also you now have a marker, a PB, something to beat....
  • I've struggled with anemia a lot but I have now sorted the problem by changing my contraception to the Mirena coil - it's impregnated with hormones and after a little while you pretty much stop having periods (and therefore stop loosing blood). If it's an option for you I definitely recommend it as I always found it…
  • I've just come back from Amsterdam and I bet they do a really good marathon, it has that human sized friendly give it a go feeling to it. I reckon if you make four hours you are a fast runner and not a plodder anymore - not that I've ever attempted a marathon or would have a chance in hell of getting near 4 hours!

  • Have a look at the Run Keeper app, it's free and if you go on to their website they have a lot of training programmes that you can download onto your phone, I'm using the 10km in under 60mins one and its very hard but good :)
  • I smoked behind the bike sheds and never did any sports at all until my Dad got ill - my children were small (2 and 6 months) and I was having to do a lot of driving to look after Dad so I began running as something that would get me outside and not take too much time. When he died I ran the Hastings Half Marathon in his…
  • apparently it is - according the NROLFW women are more 'quad dominant' - but apparently that isn't a totally great thing and I can't remember why now!
  • I agree, and even worse I find myself doing it too - I look at all the overweight people in my local town and think 'oh well I'm not so bad, I'm not fatter than that person or that one, so maybe I'm ok' when, like you say, I'm only borderline Normal/Overweight on the BMI chart
  • I felt like that when I had low iron levels (anaemia). it's normally women who suffer from this but when you go for your physical it might be worth getting your blood iron levels checked out. Good Luck!
  • yeah, definitely. I think because I am lighter I find it easier to run and move around so I'm getting fitter. I always thought that you got fit to lose weight, now I realise that you lose weight to get fit... and it feels great!
  • How do you do this on a veggie diet? I really struggle (and I eat eggs and fish)?
  • The RK running programme is really good - you can only download them from the website (then you put it on your phone). They've got several so you can browse and pick one that suits you. My one is spread over 61 workouts and mixes up distances, slow runs, tempo runs and speed work - you run with your phone and a beep goes…
  • Now that's very cool!
  • only one piece of peanut butter on toast after dropping the kids at school - normally it's two which always leaves me short on calories later in the day...
  • thank you for posting - I've got a 10km on June 8th and after that I'm going to give it a go.
  • OK that obviously sucks but it does prove what works. When you eat healthily, drink water, exercise and log your calories you lose weight and when you don't you gain weight. So if you want to lose weight, you know exactly what to do and you know that it works. In a weird sort of way it's quite inspiring! If you want some…
