This is not a side but have you tried smoothies, I love to add spinach. They can be really yummy and another way to sneak in veggies. You can add all kinds of fruits and veggies.

Try the C25K program and it's okay to repeat weeks. Check out Running into Shape, there are some free podcast that have been very helpful. Good luck!
