There is a book I read when I started realizing that it was the pcos making me gain weight. It was so helpful in terms of foods to eat and avoid and workout ideas. It also has info for other aspects of life including pregnancy so that would be helpful for you. It is called the ultimate pcos handbook and I got it on amazon.…

Im not in the same situation but I could use some more friends on here to motivate me... I am a yoyo weightloss type of person and suddenly realizing it is time to get myself healthy again cause I got out of hand for too long and gained it all back. Hoping to break the yoyo cycle but could use some encouragement along the…

I think it's just the regular metformin that she put me on... 500mg once a day.

I'm at around 1400 and I usually figure out what I am having for dinner, log how much I will eat before hand, and work the rest of my meals and snacks around that because dinner is where I eat the most. some people log a whole day's worth of food the day before and just stick to what they put in their diary without eating…

i'm an active logger... sent you a request!

I'm starting over again too... i lost 35-40 lbs maybe 4 or 5 years ago and starting around 2 years ago have gained back 25-30 of it. no fun. i've had a few times where i tried losing but eventually lost motivation. this is the highest i've weighed since i lost the weight and i don't want to get back to where i started so…

it all depends on what exactly you are looking for out of your heart rate monitor... when i was searching for one for myself i found the website heartratemonitorsusa.com very useful because they have a compare button that shows the hrms you choose to compare side by side listing its features

you should do some research to figure out which fruits are higher carb vs. lower carb... I try to avoid things like pineapple, bananas, oranges, apples (4 of my favorite fruits) and go for strawberries or other berries that are low carb/sugar because of my insulin resistance.

hello poster, although many people responding to you seem to be talking about how calories really is the problem, i understand where you are coming from. I too have problems with carbs because of my insulin resistance from PCOS. Do you by any chance have insulin resistance? If you're not sure you could always go to the…

you should definitely be talking to a doctor about this, not asking people on the internet

i was on topamax for a few months for migraines and it was a similar experience to this poster's... i didn't lose any weight or have any change in appatite, but it made me very very irritable and it made my face break out in painful cystic pimples. it was an awful experience. edit to say just goes to show how medications…

low carb is working for me... i try to stay close to 100 net carbs most days but on the weekends i am a little less strict about it. i don't lose as much in a week as most people without pcos would, but i am still losing at least a little bit each week. i also do at least 5 days per week of exercising for around an hour…

well, since i am a doctor i can't say for sure the reasoning behind what is happening... but when something like this happens to me it usually means the birth control pill i am on is no longer working for my body and i have to go to the gyn to switch to a new one. i wouldn't worry too much... just go see your gyn and see…

since you put in that you exercise already, you wouldn't add your exercises to your log because you are already including those calories that you can eat back. i personally set it to sedentary and add my exercise calories in because my workouts might vary from day to day and some days i won't exercise so i will have less…

I have PCOS... i'm having success with a lower carb diet, hardly ever eating bad carbs and focusing more on 100% whole wheat carbs... i try not to eat more than 100g net carbs a day... net carbs are total carbs minus fiber... and i work out for at least 45 minutes about 5 times a week. i mostly do cardio exercises for now

you should talk to your doctor... could be something to do with your blood sugar levels. i have insulin resistance from PCOS and if i don't eat often enough my body feels like its going to collapse and eventually i get the shakes.

i have some of the same issues... when go through the same situation of "oh i will just walk on the treadmill" turning into "i should be working out harder" i just up the speed and do intervals of running and walking to boost the workout. its usually these days that i end up having my best workouts. if your mind is saying…

this is wrong... iced tea, coffee, and tea all contain caffeine which dehydrates you, not hydrates you... you are actually supposed to drink MORE water after drinking these items rather than use them to substitute water.

I'm hoping to be able to wear a t-shirt and shorts without feeling like i'm bulging out all over the place when i sit down this summer. i'm much more comfortable in a sweatshirt and i'd like to change that.

its impossible to make them completely disappear but they fade over time. I used palmer's massage lotion for stretch marks to help mine fade faster. they are still there but they are almost the same color as the rest of my skin so they aren't as noticeable.

have you considered going to a therapist who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy and/or eating disorders? it might be very useful if you haven't already done this!

find a therapist who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy or one who can help with your relationship with food... they may be able to help you change the way you use food as a crutch. sound's like you were just talking to your prescriber about your problems instead of a therapist.

it is probably mostly water weight... i don't see how you could gain 3 lbs of fat in 2 days! drink a lot of water for the next few days and the water weight should drop. just use this as a learning experience... don't go a whole weekend off track. maybe just let yourself go off track for one meal next time around.

i like to know what i am going to eat before i eat it to make sure i stay within my calories and macros. i learned the hard way that logging things after i eat usually leads to going over in one or the other, or both.

i usually try to stay close to my goal, but allow myself to have something that i wouldn't normally eat like a piece of cake or pizza

i'm in my mid 20's but would be happy to be friends!

i really like some of the lean cuisine flavors... but have not been eating them nearly as much since i started using MFP because they have a lot of sodium and more carbs than I am looking to eat for a lunch meal (i don't usually have them for dinner)... but if you are really into them here are a few of my favorite…

i eat more often through the day, too... if i go too long without eating something happens with my blood sugar and my body feels like it is about to collapse... it just happens all of a sudden and doesn't go away until i eat something... so i eat a small breakfast, a small lunch, and a somewhat bigger dinner with small…

when i feel those emotional eating cravings i try to avoid them by coming on this website and reading through various message boards... not only does it keep me from actually eating and pass the time until my next meal, but it also motivates me reading what others are saying about losing weight.
