I was about 10kg lighter than you when I got serious about my diet 8 months ago. I had already been working out pretty consistently for a few months prior to that. I lost I think 5kg in 2 - 3 weeks if memory serves me correctly. I was shocked at how quick that was, but I didn't put a single gram back on even with a regular…

Truth.

Yup, spot on.

I totally agree with the poster who suggested the calorie counts might not be right. I see things all the time in diaries where you just 'know' intuitively that it's a vast under-estimation, and although I'm sure it's not deliberate you still end up only cheating yourself! Definitely cut out the processed food, and eat…

I was only noticing last night how much harder it is to keep my abs locked when running - maybe because as Pu_239 suggests we use our stomachs more for breathing when running?

This is probably one of the best success stories I've read and although I started with less to lose I can relate to so much of what you say, and how you feel about yourself now. Bravo Shannon, bravo :)

bumping so it's on my list. Thanks!

All over but double-chin and upper chest (not boobs) were where I noticed it first.

Interesting! Thanks :)

Sure, but wouldn't this depend on what the diet is made up of? A hypocaloric diet of cereal and fruit would surely bring on hypos...?

Ok, I can't comment on your blood pressure but I CAN comment on your pre-diabetes, having been through the blood sugar rollercoaster for years myself. You already know what to do. Cut at least one of the bowls of cereal, and replace it with something almost entirely protein-based. I rarely eat cereal anymore, or fruit. Or…

Lol, atta boy!

Not necessarily. I stipulated a 1lb a week intended loss and MFP automatically set my daily limit as 1200. But I can never eat that little - most days I'll eat back at least half my exercise calories or I get too hungry.
-
I agree with this. Surely it's about variety? And being sensible? To be frank, OP, I'm not sure that the tone of your opening post is really going to help a sensible/serious conversation about this. You sound awfully cranky about it.

Honey is higher in fructose, which is the 'baddie' for risk of diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, etc, if the current research is anything to by. I did a complete fructose detox last year and was recommended to pure maple syrup, which is mostly sucrose and generally less harmful, if I remember my facts correctly.

bumping - thanks for the idea :)

Yes I was thinking that given most of my workouts are PT sessions with a mix of strength training and short bursts of cardio, the burn according to my HRM doesn't obviously include the ongoing burn from my muscles recovering (and most of the time I'm only just stopping being sore from one session when the next session time…

Ok wow, that's taking nerdy to a whole new level :) But thanks!

Oh cool, thanks Dan! Maybe I should have just come straight to you first rather than post here :-) And when I'm not actively 'working out' but still obviously moving around and not in a coma, should I still subtract the 1 calorie per minute? You're right that that's actually a miniscule amount - presumably that 1 calorie…

Sorry, forgot to come back to this. Usually I'd go for camping with day hikes, but also keen for a challenge such as carrying everything on my back.

Melbourne here. *waves*

Ok good advice, thanks Dan. I'm more of a 'glamper' than a camper, to be honest.
-
I'll certainly try to bring him, depending on his schedule. He loves camping. I think it's a 6 person tent - a dome, so we might need to borrow something smaller and easier to carry.
