  • Look into Garmin. I have been a Fitbit user since 2013 and 15 months ago upgraded to the Ionic. Well...it’s dead. Never been in water either (though it can supposedly track swimming). It’s had a lot of problems while it was working too (example: distance was way off for 11 months...and yes my stride length was manually…
  • The Fitbit adjustment is: Fitbit Calorie Burn - MFP estimated calorie burn = +\- adjustment MFP estimated calorie burn is based on your activity level and any logged exercise. When you log an exercise on MFP, it will be sent over to Fitbit and replace what Fitbit thought you burned for the time frame. Be sure your start…
  • What’s your activity level set to? Basically MFP breaks down what it thinks you will burn into hours and mins. So when you sync what happens is Fitbit sends your calorie burn over, but what it sends to MFP is only from Midnight to that point in the day. MFP then adds estimated calorie burn based on your activity level for…
  • I love to exercise. It’s fun. But I also am aware that the more active I am the more fuel my body needs. Learning to adjust your calories based on your activity is important to weight maintenance IMO. I gained weight in the first place because I didn’t know how to do this. MFPs method of adding extra calories for activity…
  • I eat every single one that I get. Lost over 120lbs doing so and my rate of loss was always reasonable for where I was at in terms of weight (around 1% body weight loss per week until I hit the last 10-15lbs).
  • This app and Apple Watch don’t play well with each other. MFP isn’t getting the correct calorie information for it to do the math correctly. I switched to Apple Watch from Fitbit and while both devices give me similar TDEE estimates the adjustments were hundreds of calories lower with Apple. Basically you should see extra…
  • I could be wrong but I think she said that in another thread. Edit: Okay she doesn’t say she is eating half, but she feels that MFP numbers are way too high. here it is (looks like the OP posted it the day after she posted this thread):…
  • Since I started logging food/counting calories and such: 2254 Current Streak of logging into MFP: 311 Over the years I have tried various other apps. I am actually currently using another similar app to track food, because Apple Watch doesn’t work well with MFP. I still use the forums here though.
  • Gain weight = possible. Increased sodium and carbs can bring water weight with them (temp gain). And then of course there might be a little extra weight from the extra food in your system (also temporary). Gain fat = Not likely if you really have a 750 calorie a day deficit (1.5lb per week rate of loss). Being over will…
  • If it’s the only way for you to do your business than that indicates that your body has become reliant on them. Doesn’t matter how often you take them. If you can’t go without them there is a problem.

  • Could it be the coffee? Some people do have reactions like this to coffee. I’d set up a doctors appointment and in the meantime maybe drink tea instead of coffee to see if anything changes.
  • This thread may be of interest to you: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p1 Loose skin is going to vary depending on the individual. I lost a lot of weight and only have a small amount on my lower abdomen. At my leanest it was almost as thin as the skin on the back of my…
  • It really depends. Mild cramps I just take something for the pain. However I also can get cramps that are bad enough for me to faint and hormonal migraines when not on BC in which case workouts are the last thing on my mind.
  • I had Mirena for almost 3 years and never experienced any hunger increase. I actually got to my lowest adult weight with it. It ended up going through my uterus and into my abdomen just before the 3yr mark (the pain was horrible). I had to have it surgically removed. Other than that though I loved it. My doctor has asked…
  • Most activity trackers are not giving calories on MFP based on steps walked. It’s a calorie burn comparison instead. MFP estimates a certain number of calories burned in a day based on your activity level setting. With an activity tracker linked you start to see additional calories when you are exceeding what MFP…
  • I didn’t start taking any until I had lost 50lbs. The only pictures I have from my heaviest are me in the hospital (laying in a bed or sitting in a wheelchair) after my the birth of my first son (csection) and a picture I took of my old Drivers License (it had a picture from my heaviest on it...as I lost weight people…
  • A chart I found online would put you at about 160 calories for that walk. A calculation I found: 0.57 x weight in lbs = calories burned per mile However since I don’t know how many mile you covered it could be anywhere from 120 ish calories (2miles) to 191(3 miles).
  • That’s totally up to you. It comes down to what weight you are happy with and can maintain in a healthy way.
  • It’s a total calorie burn comparison. If you have your activity level on MFP set higher than your actual activity level you will lose calories. It’s adjusting down to correct the assumed activity calorie burn you told MFP you would do. This can even happen on a Sedentary Activity level (I used to be so sedentary that a…
  • Definitely. I used to use EAS Lean 15 which they discontinued and replaced with their EAS Advantage line. The powder for the Advantage line does not like to dissolve. Even with a blender I had chunks. I currently use Optitmum Nutrition Protein Energy and have it on auto ship to my house every month. On of my favorites is…
  • Just because it can check your HR doesn’t mean it actually uses it in the calculation. I have a cheap one that only cost me $3 that I bought for curiosity. It can monitor HR, but doesn’t use it for it’s calorie burn calculation.
  • Both of what you’re describing are using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. It’s not known for it’s accuracy. According to one manufacturer of the handheld devices they can be thrown off by hydration levels and if you have eaten recently. I have 2 devices that use this method. A scale and a handheld device that I hold to…

  • I am not sure about the Versa, but my Ionic gave me a lot of trouble. I would have to reset it every couple weeks for the smart watch features to work and I had some issues with its basic tracking. It’s the first Fitbit that has given me so much trouble and I ended up switching to Apple Watch. I do miss the social features…
  • Not all activity trackers are good at tracking. I’ve even had some from Jawbone and Misfit that would only pick up 60-80 steps for every 100 steps taken. Over the course of a day that adds up to a lot of missed steps. Try doing a step test. Walk 100 steps and see if the tracker picked them all up. Maybe look into a Garmin.…
  • Well from my understanding is that the more out of shape you are the harder the tasks are on your body and as a result it takes more energy to do them. As your body becomes more efficient at the tasks you are presenting it the less energy it will require to do it. Now I could be wrong and this may just be another fitness…
  • Yep. Not the greatest progress pics, but: March 2015 to April 2016 to May 2019 If I remember correctly I was a size 10 in the 2015 photo. 2016 I was a 2 (some brands a 0...pancake butt as well). 2019 I am in between a 4 and a 6 (been working to build my glutes to cure my pancake butt).
  • That’s insane. Even a family membership to our local YMCA is cheaper than their “special” price and that includes access to an indoor pool. I think I would really enjoy it...if it was actually affordable, but they just seem really expensive.
